Wagamama Rakia have been one of my favorite musical discoveries of the past year. They have a really unique catalog of music. Not afraid to genre bend and do it well

This group is an Alt Idol group. Alt idol groups still follow the normal formula of how idol groups are formed and perform in Japan but different song genres and singing styles are blended into their songs instead of them being straight pop.
A couple groups to look into if you want to keep going into the Alt Idol scene are PassCode and Broken by the Scream. With PassCode you would need to keep it to videos made within the past 4 years since they were a true idol group until then.

That's really interesting. Overall the way the music scene works in Japan is quite fascinating! :) Thank you :)

I guess they are an idol band so I suppose they don't play instruments but all dance and sing. Even though I don't particulary like the idol industry I think it's pretty cool how heavy rock and metal enter into the scene these past years ^^ I think it's a cool way to introduce people to new genres of music.
Thank you as alway John and have a good night!

Oh yeah, those are definitely a thing in Japan! Yeah the genres are colliding and some rock/metal is leaking a bit more into the mainstream these days! But i like it! Thanks for the thoughtful comment as always Passio 😊

They have a bunch of live videos on their TH-cam channel from a concert they did in Shibuya last year. They know how to put on a show.

Just a suggestion for the future.....
a band from Slovenia called SkyEye, and song is "Constellation". It sounds so much like Iron Maiden.

I guess you could pack Wagamama Rakia into the "alternate idol" drawer, if you want to categorize. "Alt-idols" are basically popgroup lineups (all of them sing and dance and the music is usually backing track or played by a backing band), often with non-pop music in the background and an attitude that definitely doesn't fit the traditional Japanese Idol image of purity and docility. BiSH is probably the most well known and overall best example of an "alt-idol" group, if you want to explore more in that direction. They call themselves "Punkband without Instruments". A fitting example I always recommend is GiANT KiLLERS live th-cam.com/video/j_TjkQuENXM/w-d-xo.html . Or if that isn't possible to upload, beautifulさ (pronounced beautiful sa) live th-cam.com/video/YGdF1nhcGvY/w-d-xo.html . Their genre catalogue reaches from straight pop music to metal and I think both performances fit the "alt-idol" description pretty well.
A few other examples of that kind of groups would be BiS, NECRONOMIDOL, Atarashii Gakkou no Leaders or GO TO THE BEDS, but these are just some of the more well known.
