When I was 9, my step-dad got mad at me for throwing away the Fideo and meat my mom had made for me. He found it in the trash (milk had been spilled on it) and made me eat it. This amount of wastefulness reminded me of that moment. Sorry for sharing such a dark moment in my childhood but this was the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw this video. Philippines. In a very rural area, like- very far from places that you can identify as 'populous'. What I said is very extreme, but you will undergo actions borderlining those I mentioned if you do recreate those content-creators did in their vids.
For context, most of those living in rural areas similar to mine belong in the low-income class and the poor. Majority of jobs present in places where population isn't that..'populous'.. are labor and farming. Most are in the agrarian sector. However, income isn't always something that's constant.
By this alone, they themselves know what it's like to have something and to have nothing to eat, and they themselves felt the sweat and effort poured into gaining those yields and placing such food on the table.
Paired with a culture (supplemented by religion) that sees food as a blessing rather than a means, and the values heavy-set on respect. You are not allowed to play nor mishandle food as it is a sign of disregard and disrespect to those who have cultivated such food in the heat of the sun, especially if you waste them.
If you put those factors together, then throwing these content-creators in such environment would lead them to- eat every single grain and stain they served for themselves. Or else. You will have to finish what you served in your plate, as leaving anything behind (except bones or nonchewables) to spoil is both mishandling food and wasting it. If words will not get through you to eat what you served, that's where the 'beat up' comes in. Punishment, especially in isolated places similar to where I'm from, is still quite used. So when I say you'll get ass-whooped, you will.
