    ive watched a whole lot of rupert vids and for my money this IS THE ONE. Existence is fundamental to every conceivable thing. Without existence nothing exists! Existence is aware of itself. How do we know this? When I contemplate existence that is existence contemplating itself! It demonstrably is. Existence therefore is alive and conscious. It is self aware being from which all things borrow their existence (shining as everything) God.

      Without existence nothing exists. First if I am not convinced that there is no thing. The idea of nothing seems clear until examined. After all time is a thing and space is a thing so we would have to eliminate those things. . To exist is to stand out. To not exist is to not stand out. To not exist is to be outside of time and space which just happens to be where God was before he created the universe. There must be a frame of reference even beyond time and space.

I loved the way Rupert left the patronising quantum physics 'lecture' from the questioner as if Rupert would have no idea about it; until right at the end and then showed that his understanding is far superior simply by just telling the truth in about 8 words. No boasting or ego, just, the truth. Great answer.

      You got all that from that. I didn't get any of that from that. Just saying. Like bruh you assumed the questioner's thoughts, maybe even Rupert's thoughts...like man how did you get all that from the video and I didn't pick up any of it. Maybe if I watch it again...but see I did the same thing because while I was watching the video, I was thinking Rupert's patience was wearing a little thin with this questioner and was wondering how someone could be so clueless....but none of that really happened. It's all my interpretation. Maybe he is feeling patronized or impatient in the video, maybe he's not. But when I watched the video, all I see is a patient man answering a long question lol. Both of those descriptions are subject to disagreement as they are but from my own perspective.

    The assumption implicit in the question is that human beings are aware. Human beings are not aware; only awareness is aware. Therefore there is no distinction between a human being, a cat, a bacterium, a particle, or a string.

    • @michaelmcclure3383
      @michaelmcclure3383 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Moh Siy a human body is an object of awareness. Are you are aware of the body or is the body aware of you haha

    • @michaelmcclure3383
      @michaelmcclure3383 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Moh Siy it's more like without awareness there's no brain, thought or appearance of a body.
      Although the content of consciousness has no existence outside it's context, no particular part of the content is responsible for the whole. You are saying your brain and body are creating the entire universe? Are you crazy haha

    • @michaelmcclure3383
      @michaelmcclure3383 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Moh Siy you say awareness is beyond brain, then why would it be dependent on a brain if it's beyond it?
      Awareness doesn't necessarily have the limitation of being human, since its also distinct and capable of being independent of any content. The content changing all the time through the various states, waking, dreaming.. deep sleep.
      But the brain probably has some role in modifying perceptions. Since if its injured or effected by electronic instruments it can cause a change in perceptions.

    • @michaelmcclure3383
      @michaelmcclure3383 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Moh Siy that's quite well said.
      What you said reminds me of the concept of Niguna Brahman and Saguna Brahman. Saguna Brahman is like your idea of human awareness only its really the totality of cosmic manifestion and constantly in a process of creation and destruction, in flux. In that sense the individual brain is part of that and liable to change, along with perceptions and so on.
      Niguna Brahman is like your concept of non human or pure awareness, without change or fluctuation and therefore unchanging even if brain or perceptions change.
      You're right that ultimately (in practice) its not even possible to make such distinctions between the context of awareness and it's content, the cosmic manifestation, they're a seemless whole and only provisionally separated on order to get rooted in pure awareness.
      One very useful distinction here is Adi Shankara's conception of the four dasanams. In particular the distinction between Vivartha-Vada and Ajata-Vada. In Vivartha-Vada one sees the world as merely apparent, but in Ajata even that's not possible.. no conceptual distance at all between perceiver and perceived is possible. Ramana Maharshi for example was explicitly stated to be teaching from Vivartha-Vada even though he himself was in Ajata this was written down in a book by a close disciple and Ramana confirmed it.

    • @michaelmcclure3383
      @michaelmcclure3383 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Moh Siy you are really complicating it but i think you're saying the same with different terms. This can often be a semantic issue
      In the 90s i used to see a sprintual teacher called Ramesh Balsekar, disciple of Sri Nisargadatta
      Maharaj. Maharaj used two terms, awareness for Niguna Brahman or Brahman without attributes. And consciousness for consciousness of apparences Saguna.
      It was quite a koan in itself to untangle. Ramesh at that time used the term Consciousness at rest (Niguna) and consciousness in movement Saguna. Just to point out its one process, one Self
      When i met him I'd had an initial awakening and he said it was what Ramana called the I-I (No me in between) Four years later that led to a dissolution into the Ground of Being which was like going through the fear of death and disappearance into the deathless. It was an agonizing though liberating process.
      The order is this
      Separate self. I am ao and so
      1-I or Saguna Brahman.. Awareness witnessing apparences.
      And Niguna Brahman the dissolution or Awareness without content as no mind, body no universe nothing yet complete in itself without content. The unborn and Deathless Saif beyond description.
      This is why Ramana says abide in the I-I or Nisagadatta says abide as the I am.
      Because it's the same Self, Brahman in manifestation or empty of Manifestation Saguna Brahman leads to the Niguna state prior to consciousness of apparences or content.
      This is also the whole idea of traditional advaita. Abide as the witness and it'll naturally take one to the source since its already the Self or Brahman.
      Yes i highly recommend looking into Shri Shankara's four dasansms. It's extremely clarifying. It shows the whole spiritual process including karma, bhakti and jnana yoga. Everything fits in that map. Buddha's teaching and advaita fits in vivartha-vada for example...
      The other system thats worth looking into is Shri Vidya.. the origin of the tantric system To cut a long story short in 2002 i went to a place in India a Nadi astrology center and i had a reading.. they talked about what happened in terms of the kundalini which i wasn't familiar with. It's is more part of the tantric teaching. They said for example that this is Amrita.. which means Deathless.. the happiness of the deathless Self.. basically which comes once the Rudra Granthi has been unwound.
      Now in Shri Vidya they have three Granthis or knots.
      Rudra Granthi when undone is like a jump into the beyond. Where consciousness realizes it's independence from form and manifestation of all kinds.
      Vishnu Granthi is realization of Love free of attachment, or happiness without a phenomenal source. Its a great awakening in itself
      Brahma Granthi is disidentification of one's worldly or sectarian identity so one can freely enter into true bhakti

    Meditation means to ponder or have your attention
    focused on some object, image or ‘mantra’. You do
    so till what you have held in meditation disappears
    or you can say you the ‘subject’ and the ‘object’
    merge into a unity. When you ‘just be’ or are in the
    knowledge ‘I am’ only, you are both the subject
    and the object of meditation. It is the ‘being,
    meditating on ‘being’ and resultantly both cancel
    out each other and what remains ultimately is the
    Absolute.

I then walked around the corner so that I could not be seen and asked him, "can you now prove that I exist?" He could not. It means nothing can prove (directly) that you exist. Your existence is a fundamental part of your existence and can therefore not not exist. Your existence is self evident, it can't be proven as it can't not be. How could you doubt your existence, without existing to doubt it?

      @@sonkeschmidt2027 We all share the same world but perspective (and the knowledge of existence) are always isolated within the 'self'. So for a long time I thought the question was, "what purpose does this form of 'being' serve for the development of my consciousness?" But this question relies on the presumption that consciousness continues after the physical body we know dies. This cannot be answered while we are still in this form, so all I am left with is, "why am I aware of the now?" So maybe the only question to ask of yourself is, "what will I do now?"

    • @sonkeschmidt2027
      @sonkeschmidt2027 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@glossy81 what will I do now is seemingly paradoxically, as you ask the future what is happening now.
      What is it actually, that you are doing?
      And to resolve the paradox, you are thinking. Thought is the observation of will while it slowly manifests into action. From the brain into the muscles.
      You "will" your thoughts, your dreams into existence. So what is it, that you want most in your life? What is it that is waiting to be expressed into movement of muscles?

    Wow! However, I still would like to hear Rupert's opinion of "self awareness" in sub atomic "particles", or any so called inanimate thing. Or, take a character in a dream. It has existence in your dream, but is it self aware? Does it dream too? And if so, are the characters in its dream, self aware, and so on. Is every "thing" self aware? Maybe not like we are but in different ways in consciousness? Is self awareness the same as sentience?

      Existence is just is, it does not have a beginning nor an end. It's eternally moving in and out, you can think of it like inhaling/exhaling. However, that is just a metaphor, it's more of a state of being, but that state of being feels like an eternal cycle of change. It's hard to understand it without experiencing it within that state of just being aware of ones own existence and nothing else. Basically within that higher state, existence is the eternal state of bliss that God is, however to us it feels like an experience of cycles. We and the universe are reflections of God's existence, the inhaling/exhaling of it's breath. This connection between God, and Us is how we experience each other through existence.

      @Salvador Ambrossi The human mind, which is a localised limitation of consciousness, might be limited by the physical state of an individual body through which it is perceiving. But consciousness itself is universal and therefore not limited to a particular physical body. You are right however to suggest that consciousness is limited; because consciousness must = its content at any given moment. In other words, consciousness and the totality of its current content are identical. But then there's a higher, purer awareness still - the absolute ground of all being - which is beyond even its own dualistic consciousness; non-dual in nature, unlimited, immovable and unchanging.
