Should i get a new tensioner? we have high mileage on this car.... a kit was twice the price of a belt and tensioner ordered seperately.... usually it is a better bargain...🤔
My supplier is a good place.. they sell to most of the shops out here.... what is the torque settings on the Crank Bolt and Tensioner?? I am going to order/buy a Service manual for this car...

Crankshaft bokt at 123 ft.lb then the tensioner once you set it at the right tension, the bolt at 21 ft.lb..the kit i used before with my car comes with tensioner i ordered from rockauto and i use the acdelco brand. I usually recommend new tensioner the second time it gets the timing belt. If your car has around 200k km and never been replace and yeah do the tensioner and also do the waterpump since you already there. The water pump replacement if im not mistaken you need to move the alternator bracket to access some bolt. Hope that helps

i don't order from Rockauto...i live where we don't get delivery..rural area so trucks don't drop off ...and the time to get it is too long...plus the shipping costs add up...i get delivery 3 times a day...one day at most to pickup....a 20 minute drive ( i drive my son halfway to school anyways that direction )...or i can drive into the city and pickup same day ( less than an hour drive )..i can return without hassle if needed..for free ( except my time and fuel but still a better return option ) .i can get it delivered here if needed at fair price... and have different price levels most times..same parts as Rockauto except they don't sell you the really bad brands...as they cater mainly to repair shops but sell to consumers too... our car is really old and high mileage...i will order the tensioner most likely... i'm going in to get another part soon... we are trying to spend only what we beed on this vehicle right now.... water pump can wait.... i have more important repairs still needed on this vehicle and my other 4 vehicles i have for daily use.... i been wrenching over 50 years on anything with wheels 2 to 18+ and own many more than the 4 i mentioned..lol
      thanks for the Torque numbers...

I have a 2008 Hundai Elantra and I recently got the heads re-done and i was trying to put it back together but the Timing Belt Tensioner bolt fits a little small, you think they gave us the wrong heads?

After the head rebuild was there any protective coating on the head? Maybe paint on the thread? Maybe you just need to clean it or maybe re thread?

Advice: Lose all bolts you can, then remove parts easier.

You turn bottom shaft with belt on than the top belt that's dump 🤣 no matter how many times you try with belt on other one will turn with it unless you take the belt off

No, all timing belts coming marked for directional, so what? you have to put the belt in a way that you can read the letter, cause the belt or engine rotates clockwise, or to the right. you forgot to show us where the middle of the tensioner was at the moment you turn right the crank bolt. Also when you turn on the car, that tensioner needle will tight more and it will not be in the same place. also, the music is so, so, so stupid. remove the music, you scare people with that stupid loud music.
You use the same old tensioner and did not replace the water pump.

Water pump is driven by the alternator belt on this engine....and the tensioner is ok if not worn out....

When you tighten the tensioner bolt it locks the tension...you hold it as you tighten and recheck..it can't move if installed correctly
