I have the 3.5 in my IS 300 AWD, and it is an awesome engine. It has smooth power delivery but good throttle response, so it is easy to drive either slow and smooth or fast and hard. However, the gas mileage isn't good. I only get about 19 MPG, mostly city driving, but no stop-and-go. I think the efficiency is really where the turbo engines come in. That engine from the LS enables it to get 30 on the highway while still delivering over 400 horsepower. Pretty remarkable - and I'd say it would get even better efficiency in the smaller IS.
Turbos do give you more power out of an engine and some efficiency (3-4 mpg) but it also is a consumable product that's will need to be replaced. I'd take an n/a v8 over a tt v6, and if you care for efficiency the Atkinson cycle will give you 25 highway.
This Lexus RC keeps getting more gorgeous, they did a fantastic job with this refresh design, inside and out it looks so stunning. Lexus is the future of luxury cars both in design and reliability!
We have one I love it, but I’m not big in the low profile tires , one pot hole throws off the alignment, I like the larger tires as they give a better ride, and help a lot with pot holes. We have a 2010 gs350 and it has the larger tires. A practical tire make a world of difference , especially in real word driving. Other then that I think it’s a great car.
Yeah. Wide, low profile tires feel great on good roads. just more enjoyable yo drive. Better grip, the car puts the power down better, more grip when braking. On the other hand, on bad roads its just annoying to feel every bump and pothole. Friend drives the same car(not a Lexus) with standard tires. Night and day difference.

LFA styling was from previous generation Lexus lineup. Lexus now is more concerned with having a polarizing design so you know it's a lexus instead of the run-of-the-mill designs.
Bought the red with white interior and triple headlights. Love the car more every day. Flew to another state to pick it up. It was the only color combo in the country. It also has a motor noise adjustment. You can increase or decrease the motor sound from the interior. The instrument cluster is amazing. My only gripe would be the touch pad. I don't really care for it.
Congratulations! The white interior is rare, and the triple beams seem to be less common as well. Touch pad is tolerable but not the most intuitive. To be honest, voice control is going to be the future :)

Her rules were no two doors and no trunk. :) When she drove the RC I assumed it was just for fun and we would be heading back to the Kia dealer. She gets out and said she found her car. Kia put their money into making a fast car. Lexus really does luxury well. Kia isn't there yet. Had some really shady dealers down here (So. Fl.) I dealt with 4 but nobody had the car. I was ready to just order it but they wanted me to come in vs giving their best price over the phone blah blah. 2 dealers sent me the invoice for the car we bought. One pretended he had the car which I checked inventory and knew he didn't. He left the Vin on. I tracked the vin. to NC I made a deal with that dealer in 5 minutes over the phone. They couldn't have be better to deal with. Flew up, paid cash for the car and drove it home. If we didn't go to look I would have never known this car existed. Not too many on the road. So glad we went. The red is such a standout on this car.
Lexus doesn't do turbos for one reason. Reliability. Turbos last about 3 years on average before major repairs start becoming an issue. Hence the drop in resale on BMW.
there is no denying that lexus is finally stepping its game up and making not only cars that last long but cars that are aesthetically pleasing. I personally prefer the earlier model of the fsport, i.e. 2015-2016 but to each is own. its a gorgeous vehicle. its finally audi tier in terms of the beauty.
Only thing that kept us from getting the rcf was that it did not have awd otherwise we would have gotten the rcf. The mark levenson audio is fantastic.
A 390-400 hp 3.5 L V6 twin Turbo would fit right in-between the 311 hp 3.5 liter V6 and the 472 hp 5.0 V8 This what I’m debating when I retire in 5 years (end of 2026). In the spring of 2027 I’ll need to make a decision on either a 2015-17 RCF or a 2018-20 RC 350 F-Sport. I won’t be tracking either one, which makes me want to lean towards the 350 FSport BUT I know when I test drive the RCF and feel and hear that 5.0 V8 rumble and kick ass power, the F sport will be 2nd choice.
This car is absolutely beautiful. The engine cover looks terrible though. I also kind of wish it had the dark chrome for interior trim to match the exterior.
I was expecting Lexus to bump the power NA or not. I have a 2015 RC 350 fsport and its perfect just needs to be bumped up to 350HP. Im not sure why lexus keeps avoiding an increase in performance.
If u want twin turbo get a bmw,Lexus Ls 500 or 4cylinder Lexus lol..Lexus does performance,but focus more on luxurious ride quality n materials! They make good all-around vehicles!
Heh, also named Kirk here. Just picked up a '16 RC 350 F Sport. Despite our similar names, I will disagree with you on a few points. I like almost every styling cue, from the headlights, foglights, and especially the wheels, from my model year than this refreshed one. That being said, the restyled (nonfunctional) side intake/exhaust vents on the front fascia and rear bumper are nicer, as are the smoked rear lenses on the '19 model. Also agree with you on engine choices. Would definitely appreciate something in between the 350 and the F. 50-100 more hp would make this the perfect car. Thanks for the vid!

Great review! I totAlly agree. They should offer a twin turbo V-6 engine. I used to own a 14 GS 350 F-sport and I wish they had at least 400hp in it. Now I have a Benz just bc of the turbo. Me I just want a little more punch. Even Genesis has their turbos or look at the Infiniti Q50s red sport those are around 400hp sedans... even for the GX460 I currently own for family and I feel it should have more power. Again thanks for the video! Hopefully they will offer more options on power.
Yes, turbo from the LS would be an improvement. Germans have much more low end torque than the LS, which improves fun factor. So I would like to see twin turbos from Lexus with more low end. Either that or come out with some kick ass electrics. Lexus just doesn’t seem to “get” performance like US or euro manufacturers. High revving NAs are good, but not that great around town. Also, LS twin turbo is weak, having driven one myself.
LS twin turbo isn't weak mate. It moves 4,900lb LS 0-60 in 4.6s. the RC weighs 3,900lb so I'd imagine a 0-60 close to 4 or less 😎 Yes I'm dying for Lexus to come out with EV.
It's all relative buddy. It's fast compared to a Corolla: Slow compared to a LFA. Your average car does 0-60 in 9s or so. RC 350 will do it in around 6s or faster.

For a Lexus salesman, you sure don't know a lot of stuff about cars you sell. Just a few things: outside mirrors, window switches and clock is different, 317 HP, etc.

Toyota has always been conservative when it comes to horsepower

We don't sell any...unless we get a rwd on trade. All LC and RC F and GS F are rwd, and we sell a few.

For a Lexus salesman, you sure don't know a lot of stuff about cars you sell. Just a few things: outside mirrors, window switches and clock is different, 317 HP, etc.
Nope. Still 311HP here in America. Not sure what planet you live on.
Also outside mirrors are the same as the UX, LC, LS, and ES. What else am I missing?
And I've never sold an RC. So I know quite a bit about a car I've never sold.
