The Corvette...the high bar of American sports car...was not competitive against Mustangs and Camaros in a road race... I've heard the C3 was terrible but it doesn't even compete compared to other models
All of the Capri's and Mustangs Roush built ran V8's. Merkur's used the turbo 2.3L engine. I was a crew member on a independent TA race team that ran a Roush built Mustang.

They were still running on an outdated chassis compared to the fresh designs of the competition.
The Roush pepped cars were not running V8's. They had the Turbo 2.3 4cyl.
