That was my number, too. I came to education as a second career. Most stories on YT are about teachers who leave in the first year or two. The middle number like yours is rare. You made the right choice!
There are many companies that value educators. The key is to learn about them, their industry, and show your ability to assimilate. If given a performance task, consult with someone AFTER you do the work or reach out to Carrie for a professional consultation. She shared honest advice that helped me make a big impact during my performance presentation interview!
Hi Carrie, I am looking to break into ed tech. I am very interested in what you have to share. I am a certified reading teacher and elementary school teacher with years of experience. I have been researching ed tech companies such as: Newsela, Schoology and other literacy based software companies. I also have a background in sales as well. Unfortunately, I am 60 years old and I wonder if ageism exists and do I even stand a chance. I believe I have the experience, and the passion to make a difference. Thanks for any advice
After 18 years in education I am looking to leave the classroom this summer. I am exhausted and just can’t do it anymore.
LOL! Same.
Were you able to make the switch? I'm just starting. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

What about we older ex-teachers who don’t have tech skills or the time, money, and aptitude for them?
Thank you!
I'm the author of EIGHT DAYS IN AN INNER CITY SCHOOL please talk about the out of control OCCUPATIONAL LICENSING that's why we have teacher shortages
Do these companies require you to have taught for a certain amount of time? It's only my second year but I can tell this isn't what I want to do.
What is the average pay for working in this field or with these companies?
