And they wonder why people are angry at the entire police force after what happened to George Floyd. I remember a lot of stories how cops brushed off a lot of crime like a guy who went into extra length to find his bicycle thief or they literally threatening a college kid who reported thief on campus along with evidences because he's doing vigilante justice even when the evidence was rock solid and he went to the police. No wonder the stereotypical donut munching fat cops never stop being relevant

      @ARockRaider 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

@@saimanno4078 that's rarely an option and people feeling like several hundred dollars for a few MPH over is extortion are not totally wrong especially when you find areas that are designed to catch people going to fast, it's even less of an option when you aren't in your home town when you get said ticket.
I have personally seen plenty of places where the speed limit is way lower then it should be, or where it suddenly drops by 20+ mph in a single change.
and if that isn't enough for you look up "civil asset forfeiture" and see if you can ever trust a cop again.
to top THAT all off even the cops tell you to not talk to them about stuff with out a lawyer.
honestly I hate how that's where we are in the US at least but that's how it is, living as if it isn't would be silly.

I was car hunting. Went to 5 different lots and was ignored at all . Why? Because apparently single women don't buy cars. Too bad for them. I had the money for a highend car. A lovely female salesperson ended up with my commission. I ended up with a great deal, especially after my tale of woe.

In my state in Australia, there were a couple of women who sold cars only to women. It was their biggest draw card. Great to deal with. I just cruised the second hand car lots, wrote down which ones seemed reasonable, and they helped me narrow it down and get the one I really wanted. Well within my budget. Didn't have to deal with patronizing, except in my first run through the car lots. Though to be fair to the salesmen, here in Australia women have been buying cars for decades. The attitude is, though, that we don't know our metal unless it's attached to a ring or a handbag.

And yes, being told that the car I want isn't the car I need is flipping rude af. No, I don't want some cutesy little buzz box my 50kg dogs won't fit in. Your personal story reminded me of one time I was working at a restaurant and had to deal with a mad customer. How the restaurant worked was that you take your order, walk down the line and pay. During this particular incident we were slammed with phone orders, and were in the middle of wrapping up a rush. This guy comes in with his family and takes his order, when he comes to pay, he drops some cash into our tip jar. As we were still trying to do catch up with the phone orders and the rest of the rush, it takes the usual amount of time for us to get to his order (about 10 minutes, which, during a rush, isn't bad). Anyways, he comes stomping up to us complaining that we are taking too long and how we have bad service. We apologized, tried to explain that we just had a rush and that his food was almost ready. When his food is ready, we bring it to him as was on the ticket. Moments later he comes stomping back, even more angry because we made a mistake with his daughter's order.... cross referencing what he says with the ticket, we find that we made it according to the ticket, but the ticket was wrong, not much we can do but offer to have the issue fixed. He demands that we refund his tip (something we can't really do, because he placed the tip in the tip jar and we don't touch it til the end of the day), then proceeds to reach into our tip jar to pull it out. All the while yelling at us for being shit at our jobs. Luckily my manager has a word with this guy, trying to get him to place the blame on him rather than us (great manager, and great friend). Luckily that appeases the guy enough to return to his table and not bother us again.

We went to a Honda dealership and negotiated 4k off the price. Mind you, it was near the end of the year so I'm sure they wanted to sell off their stock. And also, I didn't even come in to buy a car; I was getting my older Honda fixed up. It would have taken 2 hours, I was already looking for a car but wasn't really ready to move forward on it, and the guy nonchalantly suggested a test drive as I looked around their renovated show room.
All in all, I'm sure whatever commission the old coot made was worth the negotiation for something spur-of-the-moment.

    • @kos2919

@@kos2919 This is true. A place I worked retail at had an unofficial policy that we don't give discounts to anyone who demands them. If you think you deserve one, you don't. If someone was nice and genuinely interested in the item, they'd be more likely to get a bit of a discount even though we didn't usually do them at all.

Loved the car story. My wife was a force to be encountered at a dealership. I needed to replace my older car, so we went to the dealer when they called with a used model I requested. We went in and took a test drive and decided to buy it. With the price firm, next was the rest of the pitch.. where my wife had an ace. On to finance. With our excellent credit they offered 15.9% for 48 months. My wife spoke up and simply said, "No, the finance will be 5.3% for 36 months." The look on the finance officer's face was priceless and about to get better. He explained the customer does not get to tell the dealer the terms of the finance. My wife spoke up again turning over the ace, "We are pre-approved at the credit union." "Do you wish to match or take a check?" Face of the finance officer "Priceless". Man I loved that woman. She did my taxes, set up investments, savings, etc. Unfortunately lost her to cancer. She will be hard to replace.

I was offered 9.9% financing at a dealership when they told me it was already "a dog of a deal" for them. They had dropped the price a few times because it was on the lot a LONG time.
I only negotiated a measly $100 off a 20K deal. When I told them I had a better deal at my credit union, it became 6.9%. When my mom offered to finance it for 2.9%, it became 4.9%.
I really enjoyed writing them a check for the full amount, knowing they wouldn't make anything on financing.

NowTV do not produce actual smart TVs, what they do sell are cheap ~£20+ dongles/smart boxes. I tried to inform the customer of this, but of course 'I was wrong as her friend had one'.
In the end I decided not to fight ELK's self imposed ignorance and convinced her to buy a TV that actually exists, which did the same things she wanted. But it was still £200+, over ten times what she would have paid had she listened to me.

"Do we look poor to you?" "I'm sorry; I was just trying to help you find a truck in the price range you specified." ...also, wow. "I don't care if your baby lives or dies?" Do they really think that's going to make the salesman want to sell them anything? I am baffled that telling people he knew that you overcharged him made them come to you. But congrats!
I genuinely don't know how people expect being nasty will get them what they want. I do know that once you start having to be snippy at the custoemr, though, the sale just isn't happening. At least, when I'm the customer. I, too, once went shopping for a $30,000 pickup truck. I was willing to budge upwards, but the dealership wasn't willing to budge downwards on ANY of the list prices they had. They tried showing me a dumpy one that was close to my price, but wouldn't have passed an honest inspection anywhere in Texas and was genuinely not any fun to drive. I started to walk away, and their line to try to get me to stay after I told them that I just didn't have what they were showing me in my budget was, "I don't think it's a matter of price; I think it's a matter of expectations," implying that I was being unreasonable by walking away from the "deals" they were offering me. Remember, they were not budging from the listed window-sticker price. On anything. Even the dumpy used one they tried to talk me into that I wouldn't have taken at HALF the price.
I told them - by now, the salesman had asked me to wait so his manager could talk to me, and the manager was being just as condescending - "Well, I expect that I will not be buying a car from your dealership, now." And then I left. Godlings, what did they think telling me that I was wrong about how much I could afford to spend was going to accomplish? I am unsure why they thought I had money I would be talked into spending when they didn't even make an effort at negotiating down the price and I flat-out told them what my limit was, which they were still a few thousand over. Sure, fine, they can't or won't sell me something for my price range. But when I politely walk away, they try to tell me that I actually can afford what they're asking and am being unreasonable by walking away? Yeesh.
Title story - It must hurt that somebody you have a good working relationship with is trying to screw you over. :(

Dark Fluff - 2 true stupid criminal stories. 1. I used to work at both locations of a steak restaurant. At the one on the East part of town a man comes in and fills out a job application. Later this same guy comes in with mask on and tries to rob the place. The cashier recognizes the voice. This idiot put his real name and actual address on the job application. 2. The day before I started working at a gas station it was robbed. They took beer, cigarettes, and lottery tickets. Really stupid move. They drove a very distinctive truck. Later a customer told the gal who was there during the robbery. They only lived 3 blocks from the gas station.

The dealership should have backed the employee. It wasn't that long ago where there was forced child labor and they had to work in horrible conditions for pennies, slum lords etc some people really don't care about anything but making money. I get wanting the know how much the dealership paid, butt he dealership also gets credits and other stuff. Besides that, there is a thing called over head, the building and its employees don't work for free. I'm sure the "lawyer wife" doesn't work for free even though her job is something that isn't tangible

i go upsold on my first new car that i chose to buy, still have it and love it despite its minor issues qualitywise. the guy seeing my age mid 20s was told by me i was looking for the hatchback version he went for SE not S and sports package wheels. it was a minor upsell that i only realized later on but it was happy with it. he was a bit sneaky but was a good car salesman at that Ford dealership. he could've suggested an SES but didnt. still a pretty good interaction/transaction with the salesman.

I love buying new cars. I always went with my Dad to the dealerships. We were both 6' tall. Dad was 265 lbs & I was 165 lbs. Once, we went to a dealership after I had done my research; I already knew which car I wanted & what was the MSRP & the invoice price. As we got out of Dad's car we saw all the sales guys sitting in front of the dealership, just chilling. I told my Dad, let me do all the talking. So this one guy gets up & asks if he could help us (the sales guy told me later that none of the other guys wanted to deal with my Dad, little did they know). Long story short, I said, I want to know your bottom line; I'm not interested in trade-in value or interest rates. What is your bottom line for a cash payment right now? I had financing from another source. He goes to talk it over with the GM & offers me a price of $1500 over the invoice price. I said that's too high; do better or I'm out of here with my cash. He goes to the GM & comes back with a price of $500 over the invoice price. I said I'll take the car if you buy me dinner. Deal done. When we got home with my new car, Dad said you lost out on that one. I said, "you don't eat at the same restaurants I do". The next day sales guy takes me to din-din & the tab was almost $600 (which included a $200 bottle of wine, that he wanted. I already knew how expensive the wine was so I didn't bother to suggest any- Tee Hee). BTW- My Dad almost busted a gut when I told him what our final tab, with tip, tallied. The sales guy would have been better off if he just dropped the price by $500. Yee Haw, Talk About The Art Of The Deal!

Lol, I walked on to a used car lot, looking at cars. I had $4000 flat to buy. Guy walks up, “what’s your budget?” $4000. We walk over to a really nice car for the price (I’m a kid, I saved the money up but was on a pretty crap income) it’s $7000. I say it’s a nice car, but not in my price. So when it becomes apparent that the sales guy couldn’t fathom that I was being honest with the amount I had to spend, I walked. Because I knew that there was no way they were going to be knocking $3000 off the price, and I didn’t have some magical money tree available to me to suddenly get more money off of.

The car sales story CB1 reminds me of my Grandpa. He is rude af the whole time to anyone in service. I've seen him bring servers to tears at least 5 times. Then he'll tip them like $100 on a $50 meal and they have no clue how to respond cuz he was the rudest person ever then he gave them their best tip probably ever. I can't stand his treatment of the workers but at the same time I know he's going to tip something ridiculous so even I don't know how to feel about it. I generally just try to ignore all his bs now.
