I was born in Memphis, i miss Libertyland so much, i can remember going at night after a concert at the Mid South Coliseum. Just great memories. It's so sad to see it like that.😢
when I was a kid my sister use to take me and my nephew, her son, to libertyland ever year. We loved going there. It's ashamed the shut it down. The zippin pippen was our favorite ride.
Its sad how Memphis has just took everything away...only things left standing from my childhood memories is the zoo..mod south coliseum.. and Graceland...but libertyland was the best part of memphis

Oh and I don't know if you remember me, you were one of my friends "friends" and stopped in at the corner store where her and I worked in your old RX7. You still look the same haven't changed a bit. Wow! I miss Libertyland! Sad to see this place gone. I wished I'd gone more. I only got to go 3 times. 1st time in 79. Then 85, and 93. I had intentions going back as much as I could. Just wasn't in the plans. I guess there's no reason to go to Memphis now that it's so bad.
I loved this place, along with Opryland, Mud Island, Adventure River (though I only went once), and a little place called Lollipop Park, which was just a whimsical little playground. I doubt any of those things even exist anymore. I'm actually glad I left Memphis in the late 80's, though I was devastated to leave. My amusement parks are gone, my malls are gone, and even the Memphis airport is dying. You really can't ever go home again.
Back door deals and crooked politicians have sold Memphis off and now everything is going to Mississippi. Why is our 100+ years of history going to people who have no respect for Memphis Memories. The Rich get richer and the working man loses hope. Fight for the next generation.
Libertyland was Memphis's Disneyland. It gave children a fun place to go. In such a sad city for everyone really, Libertyland was a break from the sadness. Decisions made by a few have taken joy from the children of this city. And what they replaced Libertyland with is selfish.
I think jack belz or a rich azz person should buy and rebuild libertyland to what it once was because it's a punishment to little kids in memphis & shelby county when you see libertyland like this i had my 1st experience of libertyland in 75 and then again in 76 if a person wants to give back to memphis then give some love back to libertyland
How did you get back there? Is it easy to get back there? Did you have special permission? I wanna walk back them..with a few people just for safety haha
At the end black violence made metal detectors a must and even then it wasn't that safe a place. The truth hurts but that is true. It closed because of the tough crowd.
