I saw the ticket prices and parking charge, added lunch out and gave in, never thought of doing line side viewing - must be my age! Its been near 7 yrs since my last visit when I drove 78018 from Loughborough to Leicester North and back again! Loved that day and thanks to my family for the birthday present.
Does'nt need to cost a lot Steve. Street parking around Loughborough & a platform ticket to see the action there. A bit of research will get you along the line. Glad you enjoyed your drive, I did two trips on the 37 as I'd had enough steam working on them in the 60's Lol.
They also cancelled or postponed because are shame due to train strikes again can be difficult decisions causing any problems with national rail disruption 🚆🪧😣
Depends what you're after - if you're looking for a longer journey an more places to photograph then you'll certainly be pleased. However the timetable thats run on winter galas now couldn't work for those galas simply owing to resource constraints. Likely that you'd only get a couple of chances during the day to see guest locos as opposed to now where they're on about four up and back turns a day
@@PolishThatHandle346 Totally agree. The single line and shunting will bring its own constraints, like the existing southern end, not everything will run through to Ruddington. The double track section will always remain the main attraction for most but with added opportunities. It might allow us to see more 'main line' visitors arrive without being split for road Haulage & the cost involved.
You're right. I've donated to the reunification and support the main line connection but I'm beginning to wonder if we're just biting off more than we can chew. The 5.5 miles of double track is unique on heritage railways and the extra maintenance if the north section will take it's toll on the volunteers and the finances. Problem is that so much has already been achieved and promised it's got to happen now (shades of HS2??). All that said, I love the GC.

You're not kidding about the platforms hehe. I was travelling up and down the line and as always was a mad house. I need to find more locations along the line to get away from the crowds. I like Kinchley Lane but like you say, once too many people turn up it stops becoming enjoyable. Nice video.
Yep..... I'd rather sit up a tree all day (If I could still climb lol). I don't have an issue with people per see, just those with bad attitudes. Can't understand the 'All Day Club' at KL with a one way view but hey ho!! Glad you enjoyed the vid though!👍

That looked an impressive gala Brian, a great selection of locos and stock. Even a petrol railcar and a diesel bubble car sneaking in on the act 😂. A good selection of shots and locations too. Thoroughly enjoyed that. Cheers, Rob

Perfect weather for the video-good amount of sunlight and fairly light breeze.I like the way you set up on the tripod and dont turn the camera too quickly when you are following the engine as it moves from right to left of frame. Good use of the immaculate Blood & Custard livery type 1 coaches by the GCR but best part for me is 20 minutes in-can you tell me the location of the blue staffordshire brick bridge? Im clearing up the GCR bridge thurther north at Arkwright Town which has minor subsidence damage and a repair stamp showing 1966. It had it's girder lifted in 1973 and has left a zig-zag shape brick edge exposed above the horizontal slab. Im curious to see if this bridge also has the same zig-zag arrangement beneath its girder.😊
Yes, a perfect day for it but then it usually is, only had snow once I recall. I don't like excessive panning or zooming and often use two cameras and/or split clips but I'm glad you appreciated & enjoyed my efforts. The bridge you refer to is on Swithland Lane just north of Swithland box & near the Mountsorrel Branch..... 👍
