      Which size basket are you using in your video?
      I notice that you mention that you poured 40 grams of espresso for your Cappucino which is larger than a typical espresso, being 30ml…
      I’m asking because I have the same machine but am not getting great results using a single walled one cup basket with fresh beans that were roasted around 2 weeks ago.

      @@bradgoose i do not use my single basket. to much of a hassle. i brought the same machine a couple of months ago. and still learnig. as i like to use part manual mode. i use my double shot basket. i have the machine on double basket grind but weigh 18.5 and tamp myself. i have the machins set custom 2 notch up from single shot nit less than a double. i usually get 30 to 32 out. thinking of going down in on the coffee gram and do a 2 to 1. i like playing a little bit. even if i have to tip a little espresso out after being made it is better than that silly single basket. just ordered a 20 gram basket. i have had some really nice cooffee and some just nice. advantage is i drink late or capp so don't have to be quite as precise.

    I bought the impress touch and after 1 week and a half of intense dialing with different coffees and following the guidance of the machine, I returned it as all the coffee were sour. All of them. I think due to the lack of temperature that it was 168 F while in the barista pro that I have is 202 F. I will probably order the Oracle as the milk system is very important to me. The milk system in the impress touch was working quite well. Hope this comment will help. Maybe it was a problem in the unit I got and not in all the impress barista line.

      Hi Tom.I have the touch impress now some weeks too (because of your channel) and it tastes much more nuanced and deeper than the one I had before the very good Sage express. Its simpler freedom to push the coffee as forceful as you think is needed for that particular grind made me decide to push too hard I learned. The 10 kilo of the the Touch do give a better taste and listens more sensitive to the grind factor. The machine however makes me appreciate much more subtle but important differences in taste between different coffee beans. So much that I like to change from time to time to a different bean with its own grinding factor. And then I miss a memory for the grind setting for the different beans ;)

  • @slvrpltd
    @slvrpltd ปีที่แล้ว

    sorry for bothering again but i'm unable to dial this thing in. i'm through 3 different beans with the latest being just 1 month old (it's from a local roaster). i have to go dial down the grinder to 1 and it still says that the coffee may be to watery even though only a few drops come out of the portafilter. going up to level 4 or 5 the water for two cups runs through within 23 seconds. this happens with all possible combinations of filters and coffees. i've thrown away so much coffee grounds already, it's not even funny. do you have any idea what i might do fundamentally wrong?

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, you will need to rely on your own senses if the machine is giving the wrong information. If it's coming out too slow, you definately have to coarsen the grind. Do you use a scale? I'd aim for 18g in, and 36-40g out in 25-30 seconds. Adjust the grind until you reach that, taste and refine your grind adjustment. A video of your workflow would help. Cheers!

      @@TomsCoffeeCorner Thanks for that. I use setting 16 with 19g of fresh beans, but when I go finer or coarser the machine tells me to readjust the grind. I’ve wasted almost 1kg dailing-in.. Do you think it’s the beans, grinder or the machine itself?

    • @AdrianMace
      @AdrianMace ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Geefiasco I have this machine. If your hopper is less than half full there's not enough back-pressure for the grinder.
      Fill the hopper and let it dial you in from there. For the beans I am using at the moment (Medium roast) that ended up being Grind Size 12-13 which starts dropping around 5s and is a 30s shot (as timed by the screen).
      Beans still taste like shit though, because they're just supermarket brand. Waiting for proper beans to arrive.

    • @Geefiasco
      @Geefiasco ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AdrianMace Thanks for your response. I have since started using my Niche grinder and have the same issues. I see the first sight of liquid 3/4 seconds and I get a decent shot… if I grind a little finer I will just get tiny drops of coffee. Do you think it’s the beans I’m using or just an issue with the machine?

    • @1kyrill
      @1kyrill ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Geefiasco HI, you cannot fix the 19 gram with different grindings. It is just the amount you put in the machine. The machine itself does not weigh anything but pushes enough grind coffee with 10 kg force until it finds the right measured height of the coffee level in the portafilter ( the green line) The property of the bean determines how fast the water will flow through itself at that particular grind. I am still using my machine with different coffees to find my dream coffee bean and find real changes in grind between 10 and 16. If you stick ( what the machine design assumes) to one particular bean, the Touch will like only a very small band of grind which it likes for it preprogrammed length of time to brew. I do not like the preprogrammed time, I find it always with every kind of bean too many seconds making it watery and too bitter. I like and use the first 10-14 seconds after the first falling drop ( the machine starts 5-8 seconds earlier with counting depending on the kind of bean) which is many seconds earlier than when the machine stops. The last 8-10 seconds of the coffee without the earlier rest is "terrible" I rather replace it with hot water. To answer yr question, it are the beans.
