You can fight the undead or join them in the missions. It would be awesome if they release modding tools for this game. A lord of the rings mod for this would be sick.
I gotta say, i almost never find games truly "funny" but the opening scene really did make me laugh. Great overview, you are becoming my go to for rundowns on new stuff.
Ive got about two hours into it now as well. It's fun! I agree the cutscenes make me chuckle a bit then i find myself checking texts after a couple of minutes. Gameplay has been really smooth, I like the upgrade trees, it seems like there is enough depth where every mission isnt a repeat of the last. Proper pre-planning seems to be the key to success.
Don't think of this genre as a child of RTS. They're a child of Impressions Games’ Pharao, Caesar & Zeus style city builder games. They have just moved the city building in the direction of defence and warfare instead of maintenance and disasters.
I’ve been wanting to check this out, I’m usually abit iffy on these kinds of games cause I feel they can either be way to deep and it’ll be a game I either never crack the surface of or a game I spend way to much time experimenting with. Or they can be kinda shallow and repetitive. So far this one looks really good.
I really wanted to like this game, but it's just not doing it for me. I expected something similar to the old Stronghold games but to me this is far less enjoyable. The enemies just being a blobs, the way collision causes everything to just blob up even more into traffic jams and how lacking unit controls are makes it not very enjoyable to me. The one thing I say is interesting is that you can just sort of ignore the way the devs intended the game to be played and not build walls, just build a huge economy and build hundreds of units which you use as mobile defenses. The game almost works better that way, but the unit controls are bad enough that it makes that style less enjoyable. The pacing of the campaign is also all over the place, which I suspect is because the game is pretty shallow.
cutscenes are brutal. Can't stand them. Need an option to skip each line of text. I think I have the first cutscene maybe 3-5 minutes before committing to just entirely skipping every cutscene for the rest of the game. Other than that it's a ton of fun
They lied, diplomacy is an option in the options menu and you can initiate diplomatic relations with various enemy factions.
@Machoman50ta not a lie, its an achievement even
Diplomacy is an option

Reviews indicate the devs have quite an attitude and that difficulty ramps up far too quickly (on easy).
How do you mean?

It's currently on sale so I was looking for a review. So thanks, though I think I'm going give it a pass for now.

Yeah but with bigger numbers of opps which is always fun to watch attack the walls, I love AOE2 and this game is really solid
