As someone who just started dipping their feet in the RTS genre, this is very informative for how to learn base building as a concept and then adapt where needed. These guides have been super useful for me!! :)
something that really helps is also scouting and head to the nearest cart with stone asap and collect it and immediately starting the movement speed research
Funny alot times i look into my library to see what world to go save this time and when i look for some vids to refreshen me on whats goin on.. there you are. Thanks again.
The start is not optimal 1 barrack is 4 houses which in turn is 8 more residents per day (20 in total). All this just for an archer on day one? 1. Delete all but 2 foot soldiers 2. Build a builder house and 4 lumbermill 3. Search the area with the soldiers for wood carts 4. build as many houses as possible Depending on how lucky you are, you can get up to 25-31 new people the next day The limiting factor in the game is the population. You should get them up as quickly as possible. You should collect as much wood as possible in the first few days. (2 new builder house and 8 new lumbermill on the second day) With a healthy mix of wood and food production you should build as many houses as possible and as many archers as necessary. At the beginning of the 4th day you should have a population of 150 with 30-50 archers. With the archers you expand in the direction of the first wave in order to intercept them as early as possible. After that the focus should be on Townhall II (with 5-6 stone mines).
Well I said for a good reason that this is my personal optimal setup. I've seen now many different approaches but I didn't optimize further cause I was already winning quite hard. Thanks for your ideas. o/
Many great tips, so Ty. The 3 swords man will help you to pay less attention to troops micro early on so don't delete them. Objectively you should not build the Barracks in the first day, it should go down in the 3rd day until third day the 6 troops are enough to keep your micro busy enough . In the first day most of your wood should go into building as many house as you can and also start the upgrades for builders speed. 80 wood for the Barracks is equivalent to 4 houses which is will be 8 population additionally in the second day so it's possible to start the second day with 25-30 population instead of your 15 population the second day. Also build your house in compact blocks of 5 by 5 houses with the fountain in the middle. Start with HHHHH HHHHH OOOOO Where H - house block(3x3) , O empty space(3x3) HHHHH HHHHH
Thanks for your comment and improving on my methods even further. Math wise everything checks out you say =) I personally just stopped optimizing once I found this method bringing me safely through the first 20 days reliably with almost no losses anymore. Love the method of getting even more populace via delaying the barracks. I started deleting my Swordsmen a while ago once I realized I did most of my fighting early on with archers. Efficiencywise maybe not the best choice, but fun should always play a role as well ;) Anyways - thanks for adding up your insights, did help me out too o/
Can you please explain the houses formation again? Kinda confused what you mean. I figured it was always best to build 5 houses in a U shape, then fountain in middle, then close it off with a house
