Your mixed opinions on it sprinkled through the video really detracts from your ’wow it's so amazing ’ video title and conclusion. It looks good BUT, strong exceptions here and there and there too, was my takeaway from the video.
I will never forget seeing the creative designer watching your video on the verge of crying. After nearly five years making Cataclismo, and with all the fear involved in such a big release for us, listening to your kind words was utterly moving. Thanks for playing, reviewing, and loving Cataclismo!
Videos like this are perfect for you. I had this on my wishlist for a few months now, actually waiting on EA, but it does get forgotten despite all of the steam front page news due to big releases and whatnot. This video served as a great reminder that I had it on my WL and also an outstanding ovation, enough to push me to grab it especially since the price is more than reasonable.
Hooded Horse is what Paradox should have been as a publisher... let's just hope that they won't go into the same route as Paradox did, Hooded Horse has been amazing cycling between the usual "popular" concept for a game whilst also not scared of giving a chance to more of the quirky and niche concept
I have been playing the early access, and it is a winner. It sounds like it could be a jumbled mess of different gameplay styles, but it all smoothly works together and is far more than the sum of its parts. It is a clever concept that works well. I just hope it doesn't fly under people's radar, as it deserves success.
I would expect nothing less from the studio that brought the very fun Moonlighter. Seems a dynamic balance of subgenres will be a part of this game as well. I’m here for this.
I mainly play FPS games and stuff like that, this is my first “RTS” and man it’s so fun, sick art style, awesome sound track, fun gameplay and awesome little story with sick building
I was playing it all last night and it is amazing! The base building is ace. And many mechanics are really well thought out and unique. Absolute gem. And beautiful.
I have been playing this game for quite some time now, and I absolutely love this game. Its one of the best Early accesses I have played in a long time, and it is refreshing. I am a sucker for They are Billions, and this is a great spiritual successor to it. I am eager to see where the devs take this game and how expansive the campaing will get.
it's fun for sure, more types of enemies would be interesting being able to ctrl/shift select units would be good (atm you can drag select which is not always my go to) you have to reposition units often if the horrors eat the foundation they're standing on so perhaps even letting you a-move like in some rts games would be of some use (though I know the units auto attack once they reach a location anyway but my point is that sometimes you just want to "move" them because they're being chased and you need to kite), and I feel like sometimes you just get lucky and your defenses are so good you don't need to watch the whole night play out, and in that scenario a "super fast forward" would be desirable obviously this isn't their steam page but whatever, I would recommend this game certainly just for the endless mode alone. It's enjoyable and repetitive in the sort of way that lets you waste several hours
5:50 As a person who actually studied this I have to say this is stupid, and it's not what they do at all. It's as arbitrary as saying that 'adding more wheels makes the car faster'. I understand that if you're making a card game for kids, you need to make simplifications, but in a modern video game all about castle building?
Relax, it's a silly game mechanic to encourage beautification of your fort, otherwise people would most likely not add crenulations/merlons. Removing wheels does make your car go slower though 😂
More low poly, more washed out pastel colors. What happened that games went the way of vehicles. It used to be vibrant colors and things that popped and grabbed they eye and now its washed out browns, pukey greens, jaundice yellows - fifty shades of yuck. "but it's art style!" I hear people shout. More like low polly in hopes to cover as many low graphics platforms as possible for the biggest payout. It's a great idea and looks like a good game but they won't get my money because it's ugly as sin.
I like both those games and have played all three. Cataclysmo undeniably has borrowed heavily from this format of game, but has added many new mechanics and ideas that are very well thought through. The oxygen economy is new and the base building is extremely satisfying and intricate, not to mention beautiful. So much so, that they added a 'save as blueprint' feature so that you won't have to do something that works well twice. I've never seen that before. I'm only 12 hours in, but I'm hooked. I think you will like it because it takes what is good about those games and improves some of those elements. They are all good games though.
I haven't played that game, but looking at the trailer it seems like you're defending and building a main castle in Diplomacy. You're dealing with a slightly bigger area in Cataclismo, which I think adds to the strategy elements of the game.
I've played both and prefer Cataclysmo. The building of the fortress walls is all custom building from scratch, which has never been done better, imo. It is very satisfying and has many brilliant ideas and mechanics. DINAO is also good fun, just very different (and quite silly, it made me laugh a lot 😂. Cataclysmo has a more serious and almost horror fantasy vibe)
@@leoleo1035 from what I’ve read it’s actually easier to develop for console since it’s a fixed piece of hardware. Don’t have to worry about different graphics cards or amount of ram people have or anything else.
@@potato0fdoom267As the graphical fidelity of games continue to rise, requiring more and more expensive hardware to run, what are the chances that XBox and PS will be able to keep their consoles art a price point that makes them competitive against PCs? The industry as a whole has already compromised their console development efforts by agreeing to provide games able to run on both XBox X and XBox S and this has caused issues with several recently released titles being released unable to run on the XBox S. I personally don't see MS and Sony being able to continue to take the losses they have been on their consoles sales, hoping to make up for it in the games they sell and feel consoles have reached their performance peak at the $500 price point they have been at. Any not-insignificant increase in the base price could dramatically affect the calculus that makes consoles a viable business proposition and I just don't see how they are going to be able to keep up with running S-Tier PC games and stay at the price point they are at.
The rendering is very much 'shader art', almost anime with cleanly defined shadows and few to no gradients. The designs however are quite unique and interesting.
The thing I hate about games with troops is that you can't make your own custom troop formations. It never made sense to me. If you are the commander of troops you wouldn't tell each person what to do or have a set number of formations. Combat scenarios can be unique for each encounter so let me make my own formations! I'll still try it though
Oh i tought its some super surprise seeing the title, but then i saw its this channel where EVERY game is super upper duppa oppa mega hyper -.-* so it means absolut nothing. Game looks okay, but could still go eather way.

So what do yall think? Interested in this little indie gem that came out of nowhere? Let us know!
I am super interested but I wont play it unless it is playable on Steam Deck. Fingers crossed!
Looks pretty interesting. Will for sure try this
The brick-by-brick mechanic reminded me of Castle Story. Quite a fun little game, but it didn't scratch that deep strategy itch.
Heck ya

So basically this is a more complete Castle Story. That is so cool, I have been waiting for a new game to do this same building thing!

Imagine a game like clash of clans but with building like this as an MMO.

welcome back castle story
I’ve been playing a lot of it. First game in awhile that made me a little excited to get off work and come home to play

Appreciate the good work man gave it all to do this vid
Thank you for making this video. I can't wait to pick this up. I had no idea it existed
Very much reminds me of Castle Story, which had a similar building and wave-defense mechanics, but with more polish and features.

I have only seen a few folks on TH-cam playing it, and it looks amazing.
Moonlighter was a great game so will be supporting Hooded Horse on this one.
Thank you for the video. Been keeping an eye on this game.. pleasantly surprised to find such a unique game has a demo
wow this is a game I always hoped to play or build myself. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
This game is a tower defense with building that you need to do in a specific order every time.

CASTLE STORY!? Hello? What? I’m so hyped
Makes me think a lot about Castelstorie
Reminds me of Stronghold legends. I'm getting it.
Got a very They Are Billions feel to it with its own thing goin on. Will have to check this one out.

Interesting this seems like what ive been waiting for. Ill givr it a try!
