Always amazing. I did think about how to effectively communicate the non functional part as regards to timing, security, maintenance and likes..

Hi. This video is really insightful. I’ll be starting a business systems analyst role soon with no direct prior experience & This is the only video I’ve seen thoroughly explain how to ask questions. Only thing I would like to know is… are all these questions asked within that 30min - 1hr timeframe or are they spilt into several meetings? Do you have all these questions prepared ahead of time and do you take the stakeholders responses during the meeting or afterwards? I really wish I could find like a simulated work environment so I don’t show up completely clueless 😢

Hi, I'm glad the video helped. Knowing when to ask the questions will depend on the project and what information you're trying to elicit from the stakeholders. It's best to prepare them beforehand so that you have something to ask and also to ensure that you're confident in the scope of the meetings. It generally begins with: what are you doing now, what problems are you facing, and what do you want for the future, how can your work or process be better. There are BA courses that offer simulation projects to help build confidence. We also have a bootcamp which offers this as part of business analyst school.
