L925 is year older, screen is half an inch smaller, noticeably lower resolution at only 768P screen, back facing speakers (One M8 is front facing), half the amount of RAM, no expandable storage, much older CPU/GPU, less-metallic, no wireless AC, and no IR blaster . HTC One M8 is a better phone in almost every way than Lumia 925. From a specs and design perspective, the closest other Windows Phone to HTC One M8 is the Samsung ATIV SE. Closest Lumia would probably be Lumia 930. To be honest, Windows 10 Mobile is slightly faster opening apps on my One M8 than my brand new Lumia 950. Both running same 10586.63 builds right now. Most likely due to M8 less demanding 1080P screen. Anyway, the phone is just so good.
mehmet gurdal ?? Well, ALL Windows Phones with same screen size have very similar user experience if thats what you're commenting on. Using my L950 gives me exactly the same user experience as my HTC One M8. Only difference is feel of the phone in my hands and camera quality.
Lol I remember when I got my 900 and 920, and reviews were complaining how heavy Nokia phones were. But I loved my heavy, solid bricks....but I did miss SD storage. I then moved to the 925, which was light, until I slapped the wireless case on it, lol. So with my 950, I have built in wireless and SD storage, and it's light but still feels good in the hand. I have to say, MS is the first to sell me on a light feeling phone. Other light phones always felt flimsy (especially iPhone), and it always seemed everyone was rocking an otterbox, but I have a light case and tempered glass protector and the 950 feels just right :)
I agree with you Jerome Vet. The capacitive buttons at the bottom of lumia was a advantage and a signature phone for Nokia and windows. Now the on screen buttons takes away some space of the screen.
You can control the maximum brightness in settings...same thing for the colour temperature of the screen. You also seem to be confusing the terms "build quality" with "aesthetics" which are very different.

Stumbling apon this video I think my next phone will be the lumia 950 XL, an upgrade from my iPhone 6 Plus. I still have about 6 months left to pay for my contract but if I upgrade early I can get a 25%+ discount on the charges.Will need to do some digging into this phone as I love its design. have you actually touched the Microsoft Lumia 950XL? I did today when I went to find out more about it. the Lumia line was already doing metal before apple, Google and Samsung started about 3+ years ago with the Nokia Lumia 925, they also did it with the Nokia Lumia 830, 930 and will be doing it with the Microsoft Lumia 650.

( 25%, 50%, and 100% ) the colour comparison is bad, obviously the 950XL has a way batter screen , even if het 1520's screen in already amazing. I currently have a 1520 and getting a 950xl soon. ( there is only one thing I hate ! , that's the removal of the buttons on the bottom of the screen. )
@Tech Trinkets Lumia 1520 represents what Nokia stood for in hardware, Beauty and brute hardware, coupled with an amazing software experience in WP8 by microsoft in fact it was so good it topped the gaming smartphone benchmark in Basemark II by Rightware, beating the more advanced Galaxy S5 and GNote 4 in the process, apart from iPhone 6 at the time not forgetting its epic battery life, the Lumia 1520 still remains the best windows phone in the market today the Lumia 950XL should have had the Mclaren 3d touch in order to be more appealing, it just looks meh honestly! I had the Lumia 1520 and decided to go for the small 950 and I think the 950 is better even if the built quality is not, the reason is because it was the ATT version which was the cripple version of the 1520 with no wireless charging and 16GB of internal storage. If you have the crappy version then I'd reccomend the new lumias.
I love my Lumia 1520 and I think the same the both of them are great, they are not the newest but they still being better than the newest ones, iPhone and crapsung are just normal ones, and of course Windows 10 is awesome

I did speed comparison on HTC One M8 for Windows (running Windows 10 Mobile Build 10586.29) and my Lumia 950 (running Windows 10 Mobile Build 10586.0, launch build) and the performance in opening all the apps and cortana was about the same. However, keep in mind the One M8 was using a later version of Windows 10 Mobile (through Insider Preview). Although I think it had most to do with 950 having a more CPU demanding QHD OLED vs 1080 LCD screen on M8. The real performance difference for me is multimedia and probably gaming. For example, M8 could not playback a 4k, 50 Mbps, 30 fps video smoothly while the 950 did it with no problem. I do not game a lot on my phone, so I can't vouch for that although the M8 handled every game I remember throwing at it pretty well (while getting pretty hot in some cases).
The 950 are like fillers for the already existing windowsphone community. This is no competition for Apple and Android. However the upcoming Surface phone, or whatever they call it, could be a real competitor. Give me full desktop applications and Im in :D

950xl still has some glitches I prefer the 1520 because it runs windows 10 smoother and the battery lasts a lot more than the 950xl. Although the 950xl has the best camera.

With that said, the 950 camera is better then the noisy mess which xperia z5 as well as any other xperia phone is infamous for. On the other hand, windows 10 is a con. Which is worse or better? depends on what you prefer more.
I wish. I really want to see sony and microsoft give a real fight to samsung and apple (only if you consider apple eco system). The only one who tries at the moment is lg with g4 and v10. Kudos for lg for trying but from my comparison they fall a behind but they are surely breathing in samsung neck - i can't wait to see what flags lg will offer next year. I would love to say the same about sony and microsoft but they are not trying and they fail to bring a truly competitive flag and truly correct their infamous dna problems. As a sony fan for playstation, walkman, cameras i would love to see sony truly fight but i i kind of lost hope for them to be honest. I'm curious to know what they will announce in the future, at ifa 2016, but i'm not really excited anymore. Sony mobile need to get inspired more from the sony computer entertainment empire and learn how to succeed as business.

Lack of apps, that's it, honestly you will have a much happier time using a Windows phone for it's software, it includes SO much more out-of-box than any Android or iOS phone and is just more enjoyable to use. If it had the app support then it would be much better than Android and iOS.

Microsoft look like they were designed by 12 year olds so now I have to go ebay to find the traditional Nokia which are built to last unlike the Microsoft.
It may not be the popular opinion, but I greatly prefer the design on the 950XL. I use the 1520 daily, and before that used a 635 which had a case nearly identical to the 950/XL. I found the 1520 and even the Lumia 900 before that to be elegant but less easy to hold due to the smooth rounded edges. The 635 was amazing in the hand and I'd hoped they'd carry that over to the next flagships (though I also liked the way the 635 was a bit beveled so that the buttons didn't get caught in side-gripping car mounts.). I also found that the backing on the 635 was impressively hard to scratch in a drop, moreso even than the 1520/900 style. And it would have been simple to replace that backing if it had ever gotten seriously damaged. So I totally get the observation that it's not nearly as elegant as say a Galaxy or iPhone, but I've also rarely seen one of those that wasn't in a case that made it uglier or bulkier or both.

I find default screen setting on Lumia 950xl to be to yellowish. After adjusting coolness it is much better and sharper.
