    Not to be contrary but my dream would be to do all the tree eradication things to the pines (do away with 'em) and then plant nut bearing hardwoods. Now THAT would be an eco dream FOREST!! Yummy!

      You would eradicate numerous ecosystems to satisfy your taste for nuts? Sounds like something a lunatic would do.

      Yeah it would just put 1/3 of all the animals and plants that depend on them on the extinction list . Good plan

      It would certainly be better than a pine-only forest, but even better still is a forest with all native tree species.

      @@leedavis5907 Pines are allelopathic. They produce natural herbicides which prevent other plants from growing near them. That's why when I had two eastern white pines in my yard *nothing grew under them. The soil was bare under them.*
