OMG THANK YOU JOMA!!! This is exactly what I really need now. I've been feeling so lost, no direction, and lonely prepping for my tech interview 😭 Thanks, man!
Just seeing this makes me happy. These 'non-technical' sides that both you and The TechLead present to us viewers helps us grasp the reality of being in this industry not only as a software engineer, data scientist etc. but also as an experienced/aspiring developer who deals with day to day personal problems. Thank you
Joma is the epitome of "hard work pays off" and it really does, talent can only take you so far but if you're talented and lazy you begin to cap off and all the hardworkers behind you will start to catch up and out curve you in skill since you've become complacent in your ability. Always stay humble and have a thirst for knowledge. You are an inspiration and I don't think you know it.
Hey Joma. Even I got an offer from NAB today. Watching yours and Techlead’s videos was one of the best things I did to prepare . Thanks a lot bro! -Raj
It's awesome how you're so transparent man, it helps. I'm software engineer myself, but not in Silicon Valley since I've heard horror stories about cost of living and such, so it was never something I paid attention to.
Congratulations 🎉. So thrilled for you. Glad you got a Software engineering job. Can't wait for you to demystify this path as you've done with Data Science. Good one.
Thanks for putting these videos out. Especially this one. I’m recently making a transition from chef to Full Stack Engineering. It’s been stressful but when I reached out on Facebook to friends who code, I found out that I have way more friends who code than I ever knew. They e been super supportive and their words, including your stories have helped carry me through this tough transition. Keep up the great work! Glad I stumbled onto your channel.

Hey Joma! This video just came at the right time... 3 weeks down of my interview prep and job search and my self esteem is going down the drain... The more I study, the more I feel like I know nothing and start doubting all my skills and knowledge. Passing the phone interviews hasn't been a problem, but can't say the same when it comes to coding interviews... Thanks for assuring me that this is a normal feeling and it shall pass! And now, let's do another leet code exercise...
Today is my 5th day of Leetcoding, and I feel so depressed because of the questions that I have done. I just keep forgetting them after I have done it a day before. And every time I look at a new question, I feel like I don't know anything at all. Your video encourages me to keep going!!! Wish me luck to get an offer when I gradute.
Hey Joma, I watched this multiple times during the beginning of my job search 2 months ago, after being laid off from COVID-related restructuring. You gave me a good way to approach my LeetCode grind. Like yours, my problem wasn't getting interviews; it was passing. After struggling hard and pushing myself, I too started to see the tricks and patterns for many of the problems. Well, I just landed a contract-to-hire job at one of my dream companies!!! And I'm gonna sign up for a daily coding problem service to keep my DS/algo skills sharp now that I know HOW to study, so even if I don't get converted, I'll be ready to interview elsewhere. Thanks for this video man, it inspired me. Happy Holidays, I hope you're enjoying yourself at FAANGULTAD :)
Even though I’m not a software engineer, your videos about career switching journey did help me to get through mine without feeling alone. I finally get the job I wanted for a long time, and I’d like to thank you for it. Love your work!

But, they almost combative and I end up feeling worse about interviewing. Yours though tend to be really supportive. Thanks for the help!
So fucking glad that u got that job, Joma! I know how it feels when you are unemployed, and just try to pass interviews. I’m looking for a job in QA without degree and without a huge tech background now and that's pretty hard, especially for you mental health.
Hey Joma, I just stumbled across your channel for the first time so I'm not familiar with your content, but I did take a peek at your recent videos. You get like 100k views on each video. You've got 277k subs and average 500 new ones a day. When I hear you talk about working for someone, it makes me a little sad. You seem to be on the cusp of taking off on TH-cam. I studied engineering physics for 6 years and got my degree, but ended up trying a Kickstarter project after graduating. That Kickstarter blew up and I ended up rejecting my only job offer after 9 months of interviews. It's been 5 years since then and I'm still working for myself and so happy I made that choice. Maybe you need to pay bills in the meantime and TH-cam isn't cutting it. Totally understand. But I hope you can maybe negotiate less hours so that you can focus on TH-cam and build something that pays your bills while you sleep. The freedom is life changing. All the best, Thomas

Those who don't have time to watch the video, here is what he says. Train your memory on programming exercises and you will get a job. FB, Google, Uber etc will hire people with a good memory.
Well to be fair, it's eaiser said than done. It's pretty much impossible to memorize all the leetcode problems. It's true that you will start noticing patterns once you are familiar with them. Your statement would be more true if you said "FB, Google, Uber etc will hire people with good patterns matching skill".
Pretty much, when they have to actually start implementing efficient solutions and understand the little things you don't get with leet code then it starts to go dowhill
Yeah, I get what you mean but I still think we need these programming exercies to actually improve our programming logic. My take away on this is that if you can do the hard stuff then, you won't be having a hard time doing the easy stuff. I'm only 1 year plus in Software Engineering but somehow my logic skills is far more better than a colleague who has work 2+ years.
Congratulations, Joma! Its really awesome to see rhe whole process and how you finally made it! Wish you the best on this new chapter of your life. One thing I can say is that Swe is awesome! Btw, I really admire how brave you are to quit your job at fb on the first place!
