I learned 'mai' in a high tone as a question word. 'Mai' in a rising tone I learned was silk. [as in the word game "Will new silk burn?"]Then again, I grew up in BKK. There could be some differences in other parts of the country.

I'm confused as to why native Thai speakers in this video are pronouncing the question particle ไหม the way it's spelt with one tone when we're taught as foreigners it's pronounced มั้ย with a different tone. I always heard native Thai speakers in Thailand pronouncing it มั้ย not ไหม when speaking. ไหม actually pronounced as ไหม means "silk".
ไหม is very formal, usually seen in a formal context. We usually use มั้ย as a spoken language.
Wait, what? "Don't mention it" is literally "Don't speak of it"?! In Thai if you're acknowledging someone's verbal thanks, "Don't mention it/You're welcome" is everyone's favourite Thai expression, "Mai pen rai".

2:04 ~ It's confusing when you have a male say "chan", swapping genders in the same example. Males should only be using 'phom' and females 'chan'. This will definitely confuse beginners and something you guys should have picked up straight away ...
These videos would be excellent but it's just absolutely insane how they have the guy say "chan" for I when it should be "pom" and I think sometimes I've heard it vice versa on these videos.
Is it just purposely confuse beginners to try to get them to use the incorrect terminology?

Why do you have a male saying “Chan”?? It would be best to keep the same gender saying the sentences with their correct titles, Phom for male and Chan for female. Also, having someone speak so fast is not good for learning … 🙏🏽
