Dan Ryckert didn't review that game at all. He did play a ton of it though.
Who complains about a game having too much to do? Superstars didn’t have a lot of modes and that was the complaint about it.
I mean of course nobody in the comments has played it but the minigame issue might be a concern. But the critics always have high standards. I am sure this game will be fun and I think the new modes look good too.

@@matthewwilliams8244 In the video they state how the minigames are dispersed between modes, so there aren’t all that many free for all, 1 vs. 3 or 2 vs. 2 minigames, instead just having mode exclusive minigames.

With all the shiny previews, i was NOT expecting a 6/10 , then again these guys gave peak dragon ball sparking zero a 6/10 also so maybe this is their new way of telling us its peak

You guys celebrate when a game gets a good review and complain when one gets a bad review. Not everything can be great. Do you want them to lie to you or what? Just because they gave it a 6 doesn't mean it's stopping you from buying the game
This is a review where the score really doesn't matter - you have to actually listen to what he's saying, and when you do that, it makes a lot of sense. It's not just that the new modes aren't great, the new mini games aren't engaging and there aren't enough of them once you take away mode-exclusive ones. So I get it.
I feel this guy is lonely and Mario party is only a reminder of how few friends he has.

Based on the sound of things, If you haven't played a Mario Party game in years, you'll probably lean more towards IGN's score. This one seemed more like a honest review of someone that has been playing mario party often for years but the score doesn't really match what you said near the ending imo.
I've been out of the loop with who owns what, but it was wild to hear Rykert's voice come in for GameSpot.

Having only experienced Dan's shenanigans on Giant Bomb, its wild to see how good he is at reviewing a game.

Gotta disagree with your take on Imposter Bowser. You got two major conflicts in UX when it comes to Bowser in this game series. On one hand, you have classic Mario Party fans that enjoy Bowser in his antagonist role. On the other hand you have players such as myself who are heavy Bowser fans and almost always use the character (with the exception of adventure Mario games where he is expected to be unplayable). I really think this is the best compromise unless Nintendo can find a better villain to give the same impact of The Bowser Space. Personally I think Wart would be a great candidate for the role as the character had been dormant for years, but I doubt Nintendo would do that.

Thats what i thought w the “imposter bowser” too. Why didnt they just make a mecha bowser that got out of control and bowser joins the crew to get rid of the havoc it’s causing throughout the land. Simple and convincing enough.
Im a huge mario party fan but nintendo tends to leave something so obvious for the fans to be like “what? Why?” 😑

I think Nintendo Life is the best for reviews. And plus they talk like it is aimed at kids, whereas this dude was acting like this game was aimed at gen x

They just want attention by being the outlier score. Their production quality is getting worse (just listen to the mic) and have no way of attracting views except to be the annoying kid in the class that disagrees just to be the standout. Classic gamespot.

And this is why no one uses Game urilnalists for whether or not to buy a game.
For everyone's point of reference, the main mode here without motion controls has about as many minigames as mario party 1 (53. 58 with motion i think its the numbers) and most others were around the 55-65 marker even Super mario party. Superstars had more because they were all minigames that were made for board mode and were remastered and I hear they still gave that a 6/10.
Also important to note some if these minigames last a bit longer and have more depth to them hence the 90min for a 10turn game.
Mario party has needed more modes for ages in my opinion and Jamboree is delivering. The only thing its really missing is the classic minigame only modes like "Win 3-5 minigames to win" and stuff like that.
Definitely not a 6/10. I'd say a 8/10 at worse

I don’t get it. They keep f****** up the simplest game. Just make the games fun and simple. This game doesn’t need to be expanded upon. It needs a reboot. All they had to do was make it “fun.” It’s wild how they manage to make Mario Party not fun.
Please look up other reviews, not just this one. It's being very highly reviewed and celebrated as one of the best mario party's in the whole franchise
