Great match...
Compared to other professional sports, billiards is trailing the pack in presentation. I've noticed this announcer is getting better at what he does,
and I realize this video is a few years old. I appreciate that he mentions the handicap between Reyes and Runningen. That's a professional touch
to tell the audience this info. Other points of information for the viewer would be the size of the table, and the dimensions of the pockets. For example,
my home table is 8 feet, and the measurement at the entrance of corner pocket is 4 7/8" inches wide, and the side pocket is 5 1/4".
Also, the viewer is interested in the rules. When I watch One Pocket, I am unsure sometimes, why a player spots a ball, but my grasp of the rules is getting better.
Also, during One Pocket games, the announcer is uncertain of the score. This is easily solved by getting up out of the chair and walking over near the table, and
counting the balls that have been pocketed. Or have somebody go over and count the balls and report back. I think we should have this discussion to broaden
the viewership in this sport, and bring back public interest in the game. I used to live in a big city (San Jose, CA), and the pool halls there are "in decline" to put it
charitably. I enjoy this game, and would like to see a turnaround from decline to growth of this very interesting sport.

He didn't go to San Diego to play pool,,,,,he went there to gamble in poker,,,,San Diego has lots of poker clubs, usually everything catered in rich people houses, couple times I lost the tournament but made more in the cash games afterwards lololo,,,,lost some too lolol

Brutally honest but I have to agree.
I don't mind at all...Ray speaks clearly and he seems like a nice guy. I don't think it's fair to put Daniel in a spot like this, to make him tell his own friend not to commentate. Ray is perfectly fine...you guys are just being overly picky.

It's not even that. What annoys me about him, is he's constantly trying to one up the other commentators and thinks he's always right. Saying "See I told you he was going to do that" when you can clearly see that's what he's doing. Just those kinds of people really annoy me. Take 1:35:00 for instance...He halfway freaks out.

@ 33:46 , Beau is going to jump a ball to hit the 1ball. The announcer / cameraman switches the camera view EXACTLY at the same time the shot is taken, so we can't see if he makes the shot. WHY? WHY YOU DO THIS? C'mon man.

Did he touch the six with his cue? Why didnt he call it as it occured? The cue ball hitting the six was no foul. I dont get it.

@@rogerscottcathey I no this is an old comment but I just watched 1:35:20 my self and I don't get it either.
@@ronsnow2015 : I get it now. Because he nudged the six AND the cue ball subsequently contacted it, it became a foul. If the cue ball hadnt have hit it, it would be legal and they'd just reposition the six. That's why in Philippine games they mark ball positions when a shooter has to shoot over or near balls.

@@OlwagVideo It is cue ball foul only. Beau accidentally hits the 6 with his cue. However, because the cue ball ended up hitting the 6-ball, thus, it is a foul. Assuming that the cue ball didn't touch the 6, then it wasn't a foul even though he hit the 6 with the cue.

Efren is the king of inside spin
After Beau nudged the 6 ball, he kept shooting. If the 6 ball didn't interfere the cue ball traveling path, he was fine, because it was cue ball fall only. I believe after this incident, when same thing happens in the future, he will be experienced enough to stop shooting process and ask his opponent to put the 6 ball back.

Efrens great safes .....proved deadly to young beau who made the giant inexperience error of touching that 6 ball....an overall great match, I loved it.
that truly was a great match even if there were a lot of errors ,,, definatley the most easy shots missed by efren youll ever see ,,,,,,,,, I believe partly because those spotted cueballs are heavier and have less deflection ,,,,,, of which I am sure efren is well accustom to . and I looked and looked as we all did at the stick foul on the 6 ball and didn't see it move . but I am sure I did and only bennington could tell . I really enjoyed that thanks plus you have to give credit to benningtons safty play and run outs to get that good lead he was composed and when efren did miss he snookered bennington several times ,

It’s actually called the turtle rack. It’s a template rack like the magic rack.

the player came up to you about hearing you speak during the match. that's a way to say, you're too loud and are affecting the game. the guy made sure to speak louder when beau was shooting and said nothing when Efren shot. that's called sharking.

I think Beau is more interested in beating everyone. He's getting to the point where he really wants to be taken seriously in this sport.
+davids11131113 If he had set the bridges in a more stable configuration, it would have been easier. Someone should consider making a specialized top bridge that interlocks with the bottom stick for this extremely rare, extremely difficult kind of shot, maybe I will design one. I guess you could kluge one up by pushing a second head further onto the stick (drill the grommet if necessary) and rotating it to lock the top stick rotationally (not under a shot clock though, can you tell I'm an engineer ;-) ). It was a hell of a try, but too difficult to my way of thinking to get down without bouncing off, almost have to hit the object ball just before the table. I was less worried about the scratch than the bounce before the shot. I agree that he did play very well and consistantly, especially in some of those middle games, he looked near perfect and his safties (especially kick) were excellent. It was a fun match to watch.
+POVPOOL I would sure as hell take him seriously the way he played here. Thanks for posting this entertaining and informative match to watch. You guys do a great job, and deserve our appreciation, as does Alvin with Inside Pool, and the NYC folks, etc. These vids are invaluable to those of us trying to learn this ungodly complicated game. Me too Daniel! Hey I won my first 9 ball tournament just kind of a small scale thing at a private club with 4 Gold Crowns, but I'll take it! I had a couple nice break and runs and a 9 on the break so I'm trying.
David .... Congrats. I haven't entered any of the tournaments yet, so I haven't won any ;-), but I was just GIVEN a 9 foot Crown I table from a guy that's my team captain and used to own half a hall. It's kind of a basket case, but it's all there, except the pockets, so I'm in the process of lovingly restoring it! Can't wait to get it set up.
I have to do some wall mods to fit the thing. By the time you get a 5' cue clearance all around it, that thing is BIG! I'm going to see if the Diamond cushions will fit it, as I don't like the way the Brunswick cushions work, at all, ALWAYS short (take pretty much a tip follow to bank on), always kind of dead, at least the ones at our hall. I also want to get them cut long so I can cut pockets WITHOUT those stupid rock hard shims everyone always uses that screw up the pocket action, especially at the points, and make the pockets reject balls it shouldn't. Think I'll go about 4.5", tight enough to make me work to run out more than once a month on a nine footer. ;-) Cheers. Good luck in your next tournament.

An honest call of a foul against himself. He touched the 6 with his cue butt @ 1:35:02. Look closely as the ball moved sideway.
As shadmonk said, his cue touched the 6 while shooting the 5. It wouldn't have been a foul because they are playing cueball fouls only, but because the cueball came back and touched the ball that had been moved, that made it a foul. Classy move by Beau to call it on himself immediately.

Cue ball foul only, but having moved the six, when the cue ball collided with six it became a foul. If the cue ball had not collided with the six, it would have been ok.

Opponent plays very good too but can't handle the pressure, experience came in and boom., He made mistakes and the biggest one was when he made a bad shot hitting the cue ball and the six there. You can sit on the table as long as you keep one toe fixed to the ground. Some pool halls have adopted this " house rule" in order to keep people from screwing up there tables. However no organization or tour has this as an official regulation.
***** To me, it looked as though both his feet were completely off the floor. Have another look at where his butt was when he shot. Look at the way his knees were bent and how much of his legs above the knees were on the table. His lower legs simply were not long enough at that point to reach the floor. (imho)
First of all, I'm a baseball umpire and by nature we are rule geeks and try to use good judgment. IMO you can't say that one of 20 toes wasn't on the ground if you can't see his feet, additionally at the angle he was sitting if any of his 20 toes weren't on the ground then he would be very unstable, which he wasn't he looked very steady with a strong base, if he were off the ground he would fall forward and flop on the table when he tried to get up because he was unbalanced. Beau is very tall and very flexible. IMO if he called a foul hill-hill with four balls on the table later on in the match, then he would have called it then. By the way, I'm typing toes instead of feet because that's the wording in the WPA standardized rule book.
