I like your idea of using the Joy-Con mouse as a supplemental menu UI navigation tool in addition to a pro controller. Maybe they will give you two styles of cursor control, gyro and/or optical sensor kind of like the PC Gyration 3D air mouse.
Well the thing is that the switch is a hybrid system so the mouse has to be an optional thing so you can play it in any style. Metroid prime remastered gave us, tank, duel stick, and pointer. Metroid prime 4 would look similar but with a mouse option
The reason Nintendo showed off the new Mario Kart game is because... Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was sold in quantity of almost 65 MILLION UNITS!!! That alone is enough to be the BEST selling game on original Switch console with more than 1/3 attach rate! That's freaking insane for a game that's basically updated port from the Wii U version. Excited, but sad that we have to wait to incredibly long to find out more. We knew all of what was shown about the system already (save the MK footage).
@@groudonor12 No, that was about the same. The OG Switch was officially unveiled in Oct. 2016 in a trailer comparable to the one we just got, then a full fat unveiling with details and software in Jan. 2017 (3 months later). I believe it's fair to assume that there won't be any more console generations moving forward, unless a major leap in gameplay is achieved, which is most likely not going to happen since gaming as a whole has reached a ceiling, name it performance/fidelity/visuals. The current industry is defined by subscription models, less significant hardware gaps between iterations, more business/corporate-focused, less creativity/innovation. Conceptually speaking, the Switch 2 at its most basic essence -I want to add that I utterly hate the naming they went for- is to the Switch what the New 3DS was to the 3DS; same gimmicks, same gameplay concepts, just improved performance/power, regardless of the scope of each system, it's from a logical perspective the same scenario. Perhaps we're entering a whole new era of gaming, where companies like Nintendo and Sony would just refine and improve upon their previous hardware or iterate on their already established formulas/concepts, and add a quality of life feature here and there.

I'm also hoping they have more second party games to appeal to the Western gamer. Kind of like Red steel, mad world, devil's third, and the conduit. The Nintendo Wii add a lot of cool third-party exclusive games that were more geared towards Western gamers for a console that was considered to be for casual gamers.
The thing I'm most excited for is the ability to use the joy-cons as a keyboard mouse. I'm hoping this is going to make it possible to play popular RTS (real time strategy) games such as command and conquer and Warhammer 40K dawn of war!
I'm glad that they just showed Mario kart on it because I would rather them have bigger and better surprises for the Nintendo direct they will be showcasing does april. Let's see what awesome exclusive stay have been cooking up for us.
C'mon, we all know that the new Mario Kart looks almost indistinguishable from MK8 😅 You had the same reaction I did, wondering if that was a new or not, debating whether that was a new track, then coming to the realization that even if it was new, you certainly can't tell by just the visuals! But yes, it's new. It just looks like it could be any other MK8 course though!
I still think it’s possible we get a Switch focused direct before April and we just MIGHT get another glimpse of Prime 4 then before April. And then when they show it off in April they can show how bonkers ot looks and runs on Switch 2 hardware (still believe it’s cross gen release)
I think its pretty easy for my to see Prime 4 playable with a mouse in a non-gimmicky way. It IS an FPS and they always play the best with mouse controls. Thats also the kinda game that, yeah at SOME point ill play it portable, but the first time is gonna be glued to the tv and mouse controls are nos issue and will feel perfect then (IF all that is actually true)
Mouse functionality would be great for point and click games or just pc games in general that are overall worse experiences with a controller. I think for a lot of games, console mouse functionality might be a really good option, even if it’s not quite as good as actually playing on pc
Really excited about that mouse like function. Especially when it comes to rts games. And with Microsoft bringing more games over i would love to see something like age of empires of starcraft on the switch 2.
I wonder if we'll see metroid prime 4 in April or maybe it will get it's own mini direct in February. Xenoblade X already got it's own and DK launched today so it's not like there's anything else left for switch 1.
There is stuff for Switch 1, Prime 4 is a Switch 1 exclusive, Pokemon Z-A, the new Professor Layton game that we still haven't seen yet. Prime 2 and 3 Remastered gotta come along before 4.
@ItApproaches well I said there's nothing else other than prime 4. However I did forget about professor Layton. Pokémon is usually separate from everything else and will likely fall in a pokémon presents.
What if the gimmick is not just having a mouse but using two? They showed both joycons sliding at the same time, why have two mice if you only need one? Nintendo doesn't really do redundancy, the current joycons have different features on each side for this exact reason, even the new C button is only on one side, there must be more to this.
I heard that the power of the system could be just shy of the series S in docked mode that's really good for handled device and a nintendo console. Oh one more thing I think the switch 2 is the first handled to have DLSS
I'll always remember how for two f'n years you kept predicting it was gonna be announced in 2021 then you pivoted and said it was gonna be announced in 2022. You also kept saying you were the first person to even talk about the switch successor (not the pro. Clown show for years never forget.
Biggest fail is not showing a game that clearly could not be done on Switch 1. First impression could be it is a Switch Pro for casuals (ie, no power upgrade).
Graphics didnt looked much better but prob the new mario kart is 4k so that needs a lot of power even with some upscaling. Also track looked much bigger. But its a bit vague that almost nobody was certain if we looked at a new game or not. Already had people that think its yust a upgrade of current switch not the next gen switch

You had the same reaction I did, wondering if that was a new or not, debating whether that was a new track, then coming to the realization that even if it was new, you certainly can't tell by just the visuals!
I'm happy we finally got to see it but I don't feel excited and I don't know why
I was wrong.
Looks fine, just need the meat and potatoes (the games of course!), it just feels good to have confirmation now :)
Rob would choose Wii U 2 over Switch 2 ten out of ten times. All day baby all day.
I missed it, I hate myself.
Apparently its a new Mario cart game its got new cars can play about 20 players etc
I think its pretty easy for my to see Prime 4 playable with a mouse in a non-gimmicky way. It IS an FPS and they always play the best with mouse controls. Thats also the kinda game that, yeah at SOME point ill play it portable, but the first time is gonna be glued to the tv and mouse controls are nos issue and will feel perfect then (IF all that is actually true)
race car / toy car
they already have motion controls which is vastly superior than a mouse
Disaapointed we have to wait for April, but at least we don't have to have rumor videos about the system anymore.
I'm just thinking about Prime 4 😭
sucks that we have to wait till April to see Switch 2 games but right now I'm just relieved the console has been made offical
Same. Sigh of relief
That’s 3 months away the days always go fast it will come by quickly I’m just happy it got revealed today
Yes that is a new Mario Kart the kart models have quite a few changes.
Id be surprised if we had to wait till the holidays to get it , But the 64 did come out in September 😄, So anything could happen
We want switch 3!
Biggest fail is not showing a game that clearly could not be done on Switch 1. First impression could be it is a Switch Pro for casuals (ie, no power upgrade).
Id be fine with playing Metroid beyond like a PC, with the joy cons. One as the mouse/aim pointer and the other as the Strifing stick.
Its new, 24 players now from 12
I'm getting 3ds lx vibes from this
Graphics didnt looked much better but prob the new mario kart is 4k so that needs a lot of power even with some upscaling. Also track looked much bigger.
But its a bit vague that almost nobody was certain if we looked at a new game or not.
Already had people that think its yust a upgrade of current switch not the next gen switch
It’s probably Mario kart 8 because it doesn’t utilize the full screen
