Love your videos. Very informative. Thank you for taking time from your day to make them and explain all the details! Extremely helpful. I feel like I’m working with you! 😅
Thanks for the content, this is super educational! Two questions for you: 1) When determining where to place your fasteners, do you take into account the joist layout first? Or do you work your joist hangers around the fasteners afterwards? Have you run into any issues with joist spacing as a result? 2) My house has an exterior gas line routed for a grill where I'd mount a ledger -- is it acceptable to drill out a hole in the ledger board to fit around that gas line?
What do you recommend for installing a ledger board on a home with T1-11 siding? I cannot remove the siding and install GTape behind the ledger board or install metal flashing as the T1-11 cannot be cut since it is part of the shear wall assembly. Any recommendations for fastening and flashing the ledger board in the situation?
I’m putting a ledger board up to hang a lean-to roof. On the interior of the wall I have two 2”x6” boards at the top of the wall to screw into. I was going to install lag bolts, but wondered if the ledgerLOK screws would hold it structurally? There will be little weight. Just roofing. It’ll be. 20’x36’ roof and I will have posts every 8’ across.
Hi! I will be building my deck this summer (new house). They installed a 2x8 ledgerboard during construction and its covered by metal sheeting. This board is 12' , but my deck will be 14ft. If i screw a 14ft to the 12ft using ledgerlok , do i have to screw to the existing board AND through the house framing ? Thanks!

What fastener do you use when it comes to a brick house?

Same question on the joist layout - worrying about interference with hanger fasteners.
@@don_chuwish @derek brameyer --- He is using flat head LedgerLok's. These sit flush with the wood not interfering with the joists.
@@uofudavid Still have to worry about joist hanger nails hitting them though.

Great Job, BUT WERE IS YOUR MEMBRANES UNDER THE LEDGER ?
Good stuff Doc!
Thanks for your service From Tahoe
Nice Hat!
What did you put between house and ledger frame? Tape? Did you use any flashing, for water support?
Yes. GTape and metal flashing and tape on top of the flashing.
No spacers, and ledger flashing?
Every 6'' ugh.
Great Choice of advertising St Jude’s 🎚👍
