Fantastic! clearly a work from the 1960’s. A gift to the ears. Anecdotally, this symphony was part of the program when Malcolm Arnold conducted Deep Purple’s Concerto sometime during 1969 at Royal Albert Hall.
Sadly only the Deep Purple half of the concert was filmed. I'd have loved to have seen Malcolm Arnold conduct this symphony and seeing the reaction of all those Deep Purple fans. If it had been five years later his extraordinarily powerful 7th would probably have been performed, a symphony which might have been more up their street.
I have a couple more by Thomson, but I believe they are Arnold's Sym 2 & 4. And those 2 symphonies alone cause me so much grief with YT over the claims made by Naxos (and other labels) that THEY are the copyright owners, of which, they are not.
@@jamesstuart5904 It would be great if you could upload these two other symphonies of Arnold under the baton of Bryden Thomson. By any chance, do you have also some Sibelius' symphonies under the direction of Thomson?
@@jamesstuart5904 Why don't you upload those Thompson recordings without stating the conductor, so that YT cannot complain, and then afterwards as a comment mention the conductor and orchestra? Won't that work to bypass the ridiculous false copy right claims?
