- The Sefer HaRazim ( Book of Secrets / Mysteries) is an ancient Jewish book of angel magic dating to the 3rd or 4th century CE. It was discovered in the Cairo Genizah in the 1960's in fragments and was edited together over the course of three years by Mordecai Margalioth. In the text we find descriptions of the seven heavens, angelic military formations, and magical spells corresponding to the various heavens and angels. Sefer HaRazim is an interesting combination of both Merkabah mysticism (in which mystics 'descend' to the throne of the Divine through the palaces of G-d) and the sophisticated technologies of Greco-Egyptian magic. This episode explores the text in depth, several of the spells, angelic names and the long-standing impact of this kind of angelic magic on later traditions of magical practice.

@Irish Jester what I meant to say is, the Greek work Pharmakia is translated as "sorcery " in the new testament. But obviously Pharmaceuticals share this etymological root. And utilizing radio waves and EMF, and electricity would be "invisible forces" to the ancient mind. So who's to say we dont live in a world of sorcery to the mind of those who wrote these ancient texts?

Not true at all, In fact this is the speciic reasoning behind cleaning your mind of sexual interests and other temptations that do not apply to reality. In so many books on the subject from the last century or so, going to about the 1850s ish golden dawn productions, you find references to old texts such as these (as is such a thing could be looked at as easily as a high grade science text book from a college. It is very helpful to know that so many of the books both actually exist, and have documentation in some form to be found in our modern digital era.

Judaism and magic have had a long relationship. Indeed, the Sefer HaRazim is older than the Babylonian Talmud! So, it seems to me that if someone were doing both they could appeal to a long tradition.
ESOTERICA in terms of Judaic magic I found it clear in the Hebrew bible but a knowledge of the Hebrew depths that greatly. Sacred languages often have more the one meaning and in the the power of the word becomes more apparent.

I recently listened to book of Jasher and of Jubilees. Both mentioned that after the flood when God perceived that certain evils we're coming again to men, that the angels were instructed to teach Noah ways to protect and drive the spirits away, to guard, and heal.
Reading through the comments has helped me greatly. I've been in search for this kind of content wondering if it's true and for some reason I've been drawn to it. I'm very intrigued by the whole subject. For 5 years I've felt this pulling toward the Torah and hebrew teachings but I stayed away due to my upbringing. I'm not afraid of it anymore and I'm definitely going to keep learning more about it and practice it more. I'm glad I came across this video it's been very helpful.
Jewish tradition teaches that there are two complementary aspects of the torah that was given at Sinai. Commonly called the oral and the written. It’s vital to learn the Hebrew alphabet and hopefully to even read and understand Hebrew in order to begin to receive these traditions. A very deep understanding of the alphabet is necessary in order to begin to scratch the surface of these secrets.
For somebody beginning to have an interest assuming they’ve already learned the five Books of Moses (in their entirety and not in a Christian translation) I would recommend the book of proverbs from the written torah and the ethics of the fathers from the oral.

It’s a fascinating and important text and I personally ordered it because of my interest in the hermetic tradition. The interface of mostly forgotten Jewish practices with ancient occult ones is incredible. But because this is ultimately a hellenist text it leads away from the torah not towards it. Make sure you understand that distinction it’s very important.

Thank you for this! The Quran is full of wonderful elaborations on so many historical events that people completely miss out on by excluding it from their relevant literature.
What I find absolutely astonishing is how it seems that Sumerian looks like it's the ancestor of all languages and going back through old Hebrew works and Sanskrit works and ancient Mesopotamian works I find that we actually have done a pretty good job documenting our history all the way back to the very beginning and the world is a very deep beautiful and scary place.

@@TheEsotericaChannel nothing fancy lol ive used ETCSL from oxford and looked at images of some tablets and tried to translate them but for now I can only get pieces of words and haven't been able to piece a full sentence put completely. I'm saving up for a sanskrit to English dictionary and a few other books, the pali language is also something interesting to me and who couldnt love the art and methods of the Japanese written language.

I suspect the Cairo Synagogue Ben Ezra’s Genizah fragments might bring to light some additional magickal texts or even some ‘Zadokite’ Dead Sea Scroll like material as the Damascus Document (CD) which turn’d out to be a copy of the Serek Yahadim (‘Rule for the Camps of Yisro’el for All the Sons of Light in the Last Days’) - sadly only 20% of Solomon Schechter’s fragments have been translated & publish’d so far - which certainly contain valuable mediaeval copies of dozens of rarely known writings ...

Angels are indeed strong. They never abide to anything but their creator. Since they were created, they have their sight point down, never up, towards god. None of them ever saw god, not till the day of judgement. Asking help/wish from anything but god is indeed magic, be it angel, demon, dead and living human and animal. I have a question about the horse racing one. Say there are twelve horses. Twelve men who know this spell come the night before, each at different times, obviously, and bury a plate beneath each lane. Which one wins? They can't all win. I seriously doubt there are actually that many people well enough versed in this spell to do it, much less all at the same track, but I am still curious as to what would happen there. Around the 4:00 to 4:20 min mark, when discriebing mysticism. Sounds like how I envisioned possession to be. And am curious if this is where the Masonic tradition comes from?
I grew up going to Jewish day school. We did a lot of prayers. One thing that has struck me from looking at your videos and remembering prayers from when I was in school and in synagogue for the holidays is that a lot of these spells remind me of prayers. Obviously theres ritual, but prayers have ritual too. Is there any thought that spells and prayers are actually the same thing or sprung up from each other?
As a pagan, spells and prayer are very close to the same thing, I imagine it's the same for any faith. It's a method of requesting a change in yourself or the world through your higher power. When it comes to Abrahamic faiths I especially see rituals that are far heavier in prayer than anything else.
Prayers are used to request changes from God directly (spells are prohibited in monotheistic faith).
Spells from magical prospective is to call some spiritual and powerful entities (by their names, symbols...) to help you, using your internal (intent, faith, emotion...), natural (herbs, stones, metals...) and astrological energy to achieve that.

Interesting video. I have a somewhat related question that I think you might have input on given the topics of your videos. Im really interested in the Book of Enoch chapter CVI and its description of Noahs birth. Noah at birth is described as follows: “And his body was white as snow and red as the blooming of a rose, and the hair of his head and his long locks were white as wool, and his eyes beautiful. And when he opened his eyes, he lighted up the whole house like the sun, and the whole house was very bright. And thereupon he arose in the hands of the midwife, opened his mouth, and conversed with the Lord of righteousness.” I cant help but think this description is a metaphor for the Amanita Mascara mushroom, since its also white as snow, red like a rose, and has “hair” on its head that feels like wool. When consumed, it also makes the room brighter. Is it possible this description is a metaphor for mushroom?
It's an interesting hypothesis but honestly I couldn't say one way or the other. The symbolism(s) at work in many of the these ancient texts have valences that are truly difficult to understand from the point of view of the author. I will also say that there is no doubt, to my mind, an anti-psychedelic bias that operates in academia which I find to be unhelpful. That said, for me, I try to follow the evidence the best I can and when there isn't enough for me to make a conclusion I try my best not to.

I’m just curiously asking from an honest perspective, how come the priests are able to use magic, but “a witch” I not allowed too? Is it for power? Or for what is seen as evil to one group of people? We are all children of god, so magic and the life of one using such, what is the exact justification for murdering someone else with knowledge of magic?
Same what distinguishes someone with a “gift” from a witch, the person is convenient for that religion, contributes with cash or any political interest
