Are you sure it wasn't Rudyard interrupting? Seems to me that this conversation was among a group of polite guys excited about what they are talking about.
Your point about West Coast Buddhism and other assorted West Coast religions is the most profound part of this discussion. That little point about the transcendence of trans may be the single strongest explanation of the difference between those people and the rest of the US I have come across. The regional differences section is the runner up. It is totally true. Even in regions that most people, not just Americans, think of as unified and consistent such as the South, the differences 𝙖𝙧𝙚 civilizational in magnitude. For example, when the United States comes apart (which will happen in stages), there is no guarantee that Florida from Orlando south will remain attached to northern Florida, or even that central Florida will stay attached to the southern part. There is no reason for Northern Virginia to continue with the rest of Virginia. The same is true of the California interior and the coast, or more specifically, the big cities on the coast.
35:15: I've seen Rudyard do this in a number of other recent videos, too, but he keeps saying "ennui" when I think he means "anomie", which better fits the definition he's using (and coincidentally is a term I first encountered in another one of his videos).
He often says sentience, too, when he should be saying sapience. He's clearly well thought out and well read but coming from less of an educated background. Once people understand him as a 'hillbilly intellectual', they'll get him more and I think, he'll even get himself more and evolve into his final form
Rudyard isn't well studied and gets a load of info wrong in his videos. but speaks as if he's an authority. For instance he claims the north never "really" practiced slavery lol.
I think the desertification due to natural causes argument is more tenable (as opposed to the deforestation one), simply because of the assumed size of these landmasses. As a side-note to the conversation about Sumerians: Exactly the same thing happened with the Harrapan Civilization - where the Saraswati river changed course and gave rise to the Thar desert in India. After all, we're talking about very long timespans (centuries)
The Normans led a Latinizing crusade all over the world... not just England in 1066. When Britons from Wales and other places refused to be Latinized, they joined the Verangian Guard in Constantinople and eventually settled lands that are today recently won by Russia in Ukraine and have names like "New York".
All these discussions are very Educative and quite informative - especially for the N.American audience that lacks basics in.. well.. everything -, but for the rest of the world they don't push the envelope. For example none of the panelists explain - or even try - how and where / when the very first priests - so-called the ''Stars Readers'' - came to be. Who were these people that - before Assyrians and Babylonians -, knew how to ''read'' the stars. Because every single element of the societal fabric today is linked to that human dynamic. But than again, they - these panelists here -, are all educated in a (some) Anglo-Saxon society - be US, UK, Canada, AUS or NZ -, thus their core knowledge is limited to the first to third layer in historical acumen. Nonetheless good interview. Thank you for sharing.

You’d think stans of Rudy would enjoy being introduced to someone that Rudy HIMSELF both respects and genuinely leans from… but this comments section shows otherwise. learn something outside of your para-social relationship with Rudyard - here’s a chance to do so with one of the best
A bit harsh, but I tend to agree. He's often speaking off the cuff on things he has only a passing familiarity with. He gives way too much credence to certain self-proclaimed "experts" who are really hacks (Peter Zeihan is an excellent example here - he's a total hack, but Rudyard takes him at face value). It also irks me that he talks at length about the importance of biology in human nature (i.e. nature over nurture), yet he refuses to discuss biological race differences. But he's also very young, so I'm inclined to cut him some slack, in the hope that he'll grow and develop. I'll be very interested to see his perspective in 10 or 20 years.
I wish there had been more discussion on the " Latin American " phase . Any society that falls under tyrannical rule does not progress and it takes that society centuries to recover.

But I understand why Rudyard sees Charlemagne as the original modern west figure
I wonder if these two have looked into Gnosticism much. It seems they reference different forms of it (west-coast Buddhism, communism, transhumanism, ect) as if it's a different religion when it's just different manifestations of the same underlying parasitic religion.

A completely wrong and biased view of the Spanish Empire and its relations with the overseas territories. The provinces of Spanish America were far more prosperous (especially the major cities) economically and culturally than any of the Anglo-Saxon colonies until their independence. The great calamity for Hispanic America has been Manifest Destiny and the Monroe Doctrine. Southern Italy was richer than the north until Garibaldi’s reunification, promoted from the north.
