- He is a Hero, statesman, brave officer & a Pan Africanist. Maj Gen Paul Lokech is one of the best UPDF commanders who have earned the army huge respect on the continent due to his dedication & selfless service
His military career includes service in various leadership capacities, including two tours as the Commander of the Uganda contingent to Somalia, as part of the AMISOM peace-keeping force, where he performed very well earning himself a title of “Lion of Mogadishu” from Somalis.
He has also served as part of Uganda's peace-keeping forces in South Sudan. He was part of Operation Safe Haven (OSH), a UPDF operation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo intended to neutralize the rebel Allied Democratic Forces (ADF)

The general is a special one indeed. For I remember the 2009_2011 situation in muqdisho. It was one full of blood shed and wounds left by the ethiopian army that retriated.
The UPDF were dealing not only with insurgence but also an open wound in somali society. The retreating ethiopian army caused a lot of attrocities in the country and every family lost adear one In the war.
Apoorly trained ugandan army against awell funded terrorist group with pakistani tacticans and former jamhuria iraq soldiers and not forgetting the somali jihadist that came from abroad fighting in iraq Lebanon and Afghanistan. While by the time ugandan soldiers were being deployed in somalia the military was still fighting konyi.
Today alshabab is only aname and the best they can do is the hit and run they have been neutralised. And have lost much of the support they hard in the society and have been defeated both ideologically and also ground. The only thing that is keeping the the alshabab alife on oxygen support is the very Amisom soldiers. Who don't want to finish it off as it's there lifeline and bread basket

For your own information Updf is one the best forces, way back from their founders m7 and his few guys managed to defeat Amin and his help of 4000 soldiers from Libya and wen they took over and formed updf they managed to flash out kony and Adf from Uganda etc so just know that updf is a deadly force bt ranked very low in Africa and the world cz of politics
