I don’t know why, but I just like this dude. Plays great, no frills and awesome demos. I don’t even care that he drives on the wrong side of the road, in the wrong side of the car.
Honestly I just bought this pedal from 30th street guitars in NYC and I had no expectations, the feedback in the store was crazy, but once I took it home, it was unbelievable. The sickest distortion sound I have on my board by far. And I only play through a Blues Jr., it literally shakes my whole house with the volume at 10 o'clock. Perfect companion to my old school Jekyll and Hyde silver 90s edition overdrive. Makes my strat explode. Literally.
Honestly I`m not a fuzz effect fan and i`m very skeptical hearing about fuzz pedals. But this Brian`s creation is the real masterpiece. I even couldn`t imagine how can fuzz pedal have such a brilliant sound and how versitale it can be. I`m pleasantly surprised.
Hey David. Yeah, great fuzz, eh? Yes, a review/demo is scheduled for the Albion along with a heap of other cool stuff in the coming months. Unfortunately I'm back on the road next week until the end of October so that will slow me down again for a bit. I need another me to get them all done..!
Ha, thanks! Normally, a good demo is an easy demo; and it's easy because the pedal has a very succinct message and that message is all rockin'. This would be one of those. Thanks again. :)
Thanks again for another great video Brett! This pedal is very retro in a good way: Sounds a lot like the Black Cat "OD+Fuzz" to my ear... and that too is a very good sound.
This is the best fuzz pedal I've heard. Also, Wampler is a pretty cool dude, I would love to buy a pedal from him. There is vid that he shows how to build a DIY attenuator for a hot rod deluxe. He is that cool. Regarding the FUZZ it's a call between this and the JAM pedals Eureka
Josh Scott from JHS pedals called Wampler a "genius". even when the fuzz is maxed out you can still hear notes with clarity and the sustain is incredible also
This pedal always strikes me as a hybrid OD/fuzz. With the switch it goes from overdrive to fat, wooly, big muff and germanium fuzz face had a baby kinda sound.
Yeah, if I'm not mistaken, Brian mentioned on a video something about designing it such that even people who aren't fans of fuzz will like it. And I must say, I'm liking it! I recently ordered a Rockett Animal, though, so it'll be a while before I can afford another pedal. Good luck on the tour! I'll be waiting for that Albion demo! Cheers!
Hey Brett, you always have the best pedal demos. Everyone else does the blues, but you bring Rock N Roll to the plate. Thanks! Your strat sounds thick, what pickups are you using by the way?
In fact, it does is. This is a Plexi Drive wih extra boost circuits (tight or big) before. I agree with you: does not sounds like a fuzz... However, it does makes a strat sound fat, unlike many other drive pedals...
It sounds great with single coil pickups and the volume on the guitar rolled back a bit. When I want more secret sauce for leads, I turn up the volume of the guitar. It feels great and sounds great.
Well, with all due respect to Blackout Effectors, let me put it this way: I loved the SST but I had no trouble sending it back. I will have a VERY hard time parting with this one. I think Brian has created one of the great fuzzes.
Yeah, this became my go to Fuzz. I have about three settings I switch between. One being a combination of Gain OD from my Orange amp and a backed off 10:30 am Velvet fuzz in tight with 3 o clock brightness and the two sound so rich because the thickness comes from both the AD30 Orange OD and the fuzz breakup and at the same time the tightness of the fuzz on the top. Plus this fuzz through a chorus is sick as well as adding a tiny reverb. :D
I can never trust Brett's pedal demo videos. Ive bought maybe 6 pedals based on his demos during the first year after I found the perfect pedal amp (Dr Z EZG 50). Not one of the pedals sounded even close to his audio. He has to run the audio through some type of compressor and/or program that cleans it up, polishes it and literally makes it sound better. After the third pedal I got based on how his demo sounded, I went back and A/B'd my actual tone with his video and only then, could I hear the buzziness, thinness, etc of the pedal.....and those bad qualities show up in the audio but they are somehow buried. I know all of us want to sound the absolute best we can, especially when we're representing a product. But it's almost like false advertisement, or dare I say, lying? Im not sure if Burg is aware this is happening, he obviously knows what programs he's using in his studio set up. I still watch his videos and enjoy them, I just wont buy any pedals based on how they sound in the videos, for that, I go to GearManDude, who HAS TO use the mic on a digital handheld camera from 2003 like the first ones that used memory cards lol They sound so-so but the real characteristics of the pedals are all there for you to hear!
Agree. But apart from few spices he does in Pro Logic regarding eq, compression and reverb, obviously cutting off noise between phrases there is much he's able to do with his fingers that most of us aren't. He is demon on guitar and seasoned player who know how to go with any type of pedal. With hand muting, volume knob gating and carefully choosing backing track and other fx that exaggerate tone of actual unit he can fool us this is some kind of holly grail of pedals, which actually never is. He is one of a kind, very talented for that. Can't think of any famous pro (Brian May, Clapton 😁?) who could sell us pedals like he is doing or better.
***** You might cringe then when I tell you I use .008s DETUNED 3 frets. :) But yeah, I use a really light touch and yeah, there is a difference in tone a little bit but I gotta do what I gotta do.
Cheers for the quick reply! Looks like I might have to get my first Wampler pedal then! ;) The SST is staying put on my board tho, love the fix'd fuzz side & you can't have too many fuzz pedals! :) I reckon you should keep it!
Awesome demo Burgs! You demoed the Blackout effectors SST dual fuzz about a year ago. Got that pedal thanks to your demo ;) Did you find the Velvet fuzz gave something different compared to the SST? Cheers!
Hey the Brett! I'm torn on which fuzz to buy. I'm after either the Velvet fuzz, or a Jam Pedals Fuzz Phrase. Help!! Mostly after the heavier hendrix spectrum of fuzz, Woodstock type tones, Machine Gun, etc.
How would you compare This with Caroline olympia fuzz ?? Which fuzz is best with small amps and bedroom volume and single coils strat ?? Caroline or velvet fuzz ?? Or other pedals perhaps??
Joe there's no stores around me to try anything. I live in a major city. Order everything online. I have no choice. If I don't like it I return it and yes I'm stuck with shipping price.
Fuzz is SUPPOSED to be abrasive. That's sort of like saying you want a triple malt whiskey, but not the 'bite'. It should let everyone know you have a fuzz pedal.
I have this and the Bonamassa. The Bonamassa sounds great but I have the limited copper version and it’s irritating that it doesn’t have an indicator light on it.
I just got one and its so muddy it's going back. I fooled with it for an hour with my strat with single coils and got it to sound kind of ok but with my HSH strat it sound aweful. Not for humbuckers way to muddy and most of the settings are muddy with single coils as well. sounds nothing like in this video. My swollen pickle sound way better. Only good thing about the velvet fuzz is that you can dial the fuzz out of it but whats the fucking point if the rest it sounds like shit. That's really the only thing the swollen pickle doesn't do is being able to really lay back on the fuzz.
***** Don't get your panties in a twist kid, if you can't run with the Big Dogs, stay on the porch... Oh, yeah, and buy yourself a good tube amp like the big boys...
Biker Tramp but his $50 fuzz pedal sounded way better, man! Clearly everyone else in the world is full of shit. Not him; the one guy who thinks the pedal sounds anything short of incredible.
Terrible fuzz. Does not life up to Wampler's claim of working on ANY clean amp. I tried a 65 PRRI and an EVH 5150iii on the clean channel. Farty sounding on both amps & tried multiple settings..
I don’t know why, but I just like this dude. Plays great, no frills and awesome demos. I don’t even care that he drives on the wrong side of the road, in the wrong side of the car.
😮
Your demos really help, thanks for all of them!!
I feel you man, that is a truly wonderful and incomparable modern fuzz sound!
I played it today!!! I love it because i felt like i was playing a super stage full of big amps!!!
Got one yesterday.Best fuzz pedal ever!
Hey David. Yeah, great fuzz, eh? Yes, a review/demo is scheduled for the Albion along with a heap of other cool stuff in the coming months. Unfortunately I'm back on the road next week until the end of October so that will slow me down again for a bit. I need another me to get them all done..!
This is the best demo of this pedal so far, vote #1 Burgs.
Oh hell yeah, it's a just a copy of a 50's tremolo so it needs just as much love as the oldies.
Ha, thanks! Normally, a good demo is an easy demo; and it's easy because the pedal has a very succinct message and that message is all rockin'. This would be one of those. Thanks again. :)
Holly S... I knew it was a good one, but wasn't expecting it to be THAT good!
Thanks again for another great video Brett! This pedal is very retro in a good way: Sounds a lot like the Black Cat "OD+Fuzz" to my ear... and that too is a very good sound.
Man that's so PHATT! Excellent demo, excellent phrasing. Thanks
Great job burg. My wife just bought me the last one of this pedal for xmas in effektpedaler in Denmark, now i cant wait for xmas!! :)
wow that is a great sounding fuzz!
"Explodo-Sag" That's it you just described it!
They may have sold out, a LOT of them have been delivered to the distributors over the last couple of months. :)
This is the best fuzz pedal I've heard. Also, Wampler is a pretty cool dude, I would love to buy a pedal from him. There is vid that he shows how to build a DIY attenuator for a hot rod deluxe. He is that cool.

Am gonna put this next to my Tsuchi Fuzz... Two of the best Fuzz pedals in the world!
Deceided to go with this instead of the OCD! Love this tone!!
Yeah, if I'm not mistaken, Brian mentioned on a video something about designing it such that even people who aren't fans of fuzz will like it. And I must say, I'm liking it! I think Burgs is the only one who could ever make me want a strat.
It's all over Europe at the moment, the UK not apparently - but Europe it is!
Hey Brett, you always have the best pedal demos. Everyone else does the blues, but you bring Rock N Roll to the plate. Thanks!
Your strat sounds thick, what pickups are you using by the way?
+Sam Moon Sam, that's a very kind thing to say, thank you. I appreciate your support and feedback greatly. Cheers. :)
Great demo! A fantastic sounding pedal and the "Tight/Big" switch is very handy! Got a permanent spot on my ever-changing board ;)
Feel this fuzz more like an over saturated distortion. Not bad, but expected more from this fuzz.
Excellent review, by the way.
In fact, it does is. This is a Plexi Drive wih extra boost circuits (tight or big) before. I agree with you: does not sounds like a fuzz... However, it does makes a strat sound fat, unlike many other drive pedals...
Oooh!! Sounds amazing man!!!
I got one! It´s a great pedal. Really great for soloing!
Sounds like a great quality box. i should try one.
It sounds great with single coil pickups and the volume on the guitar rolled back a bit. When I want more secret sauce for leads, I turn up the volume of the guitar. It feels great and sounds great.
Good to great hphns fills in the rest of the arena for the last trill sequence. Very intense....glad mine's here, it's board magic tomorrow.
Burgs for the win. Every. Darn. Time.
On my I-Mac the sound is way beyond the speakers and I don't perceive any phase issues, nice job.

that tone makes me want to go out of my house and dropkick the first person i see.

Yeah, hard panned. That was for the sake of the Eventide bit at the end.
I've got one, and it's my favorite all around fuzz. (I've got a few Skreddy's in the toolbox too, so there's very good competition)
you know it's the second pedal I bought because of you
You get such a fat sound from those single coils and the Tele. Ees de amp, senior?
I just hit 'em hard. :)
***** :)
***** The only way to play :)
***** You might cringe then when I tell you I use .008s DETUNED 3 frets. :) But yeah, I use a really light touch and yeah, there is a difference in tone a little bit but I gotta do what I gotta do.
This is a great sounding Fuzz, not a nasty fuzz like some others. The Joe Bonnamassa Signature Fuzz is great also. Great demo :-)
Yeah, definately reminded me of Brighton Rock from Queen Live Killers.
Brilliant demo, thank you.
This pedal sounds epic
Cheers for the quick reply! Looks like I might have to get my first Wampler pedal then! ;) The SST is staying put on my board tho, love the fix'd fuzz side & you can't have too many fuzz pedals! :) I reckon you should keep it!
check the dealer map on our site Joe /dealers/ :)
awsome sounds comming out of this small fella... nice
Awesome demo Burgs! You demoed the Blackout effectors SST dual fuzz about a year ago. Got that pedal thanks to your demo ;) Did you find the Velvet fuzz gave something different compared to the SST? Cheers!
Sounds great! Even a custom shop trem goes out of tune!
Sounds awesome, Burgs. Any chance of you doing a review of that Albion by itself? :)
I think Andy at PGS did a demo that had a humbucker guitar.
If I don't like it I return it and yes I'm stuck with shipping price.
nice stereo field you got there Burgs. Very wide.
Still cant get this in europe. Was spose to available on sep 1st but im still waiting.I hear mid November now.Really want to try it
I cant seem to find it anywhere unfortunately.Any european shops i check online say it will be november before they're in stock
I used an HSS guitar in my demo so you can see how it sounds with a bridge humbucker. ;)
marshall bluesbreaker settings and channel please?
I’ve been spoilt I’ve heard the Noel Cornet fuzz it’s simply unbeatable although the Velvet is a great sounding pedal well demonstrated Bret 😊
Nice, not as abrasive as many popular fuzz's. Its tonality kind of smooths out the rough corners.
Fuzz is SUPPOSED to be abrasive. That's sort of like saying you want a triple malt whiskey, but not the 'bite'. It should let everyone know you have a fuzz pedal.
I really want to try this thing out in person but I can't find it in the Chicago area anywhere. Anyone been to a dealer that has 'em?
How does this stack up against the Wampler Tumnus Brett?
This pedal sounds great for Hendrix type fuzz, but can it do a good Jimmy Page kind of sound? Thanks
Brett, the Velvet or the Skreddy P19? You rated both pretty highly and they're about the same price here is Oz. Which would you prefer?
that pedal sounds fabulous here, but when gearmanndude demoed it, it sounded shocking.....maybe its in the hands
How does it play with a wah.?
i dont understand why they dont make the leviathan anymore
Yeah ok, I'll get one.
How is the Velvet with humbuckers?
"Wank-a-thon." You're a gem.
Demo this with bass, please, Mr.Kingman?
Explodo-Sagolicious
What is it like with Humbuckers, Burgs?
Probably great, but I'm not sure to be honest; I didn't get past the Strat because I thought it sounded so good! Humbuckers can wait...
'Dave Gilmour solo type wankathon'.
This or the Ramble FX Twin Bender?
LOL. I have no idea what that means.
Hmmm... I wonder how it sounds with bass...
I think I like you more than Andy now...
Burgs is the guitar God!!!!! sorry Andy ill give you #2!!!!
That dog'll hunt.
sounds big muff-y
I bought a Dunlop Joe Bonamassa Fuzz. Returned the next day. Useless.
What amp and guitar were you using?
Useless? I guess it only works for Joe.
I have this and the Bonamassa. The Bonamassa sounds great but I have the limited copper version and it’s irritating that it doesn’t have an indicator light on it.
Sounds more like a distortion or op-amp fuzz. Not my kind.
Ammoon Retro Fuzz is a clone of this pedal. Very cheap clone with a great sound. Try it to see...
the pedal is incredible bbrett but your fingerrs and hands eh eh eh
That delay sounds really bad
I just got one and its so muddy it's going back. I fooled with it for an hour with my strat with single coils and got it to sound kind of ok but with my HSH strat it sound aweful. That's really the only thing the swollen pickle doesn't do is being able to really lay back on the fuzz.
You had to have been doing something wrong. Everyone else is raving about it.
***** What are you playing that through a $10.00 amp? Something tells me you are just full of shit...
***** You're an idiot
***** Don't get your panties in a twist kid, if you can't run with the Big Dogs, stay on the porch... Oh, yeah, and buy yourself a good tube amp like the big boys...
Biker Tramp but his $50 fuzz pedal sounded way better, man! Clearly everyone else in the world is full of shit. Not him; the one guy who thinks the pedal sounds anything short of incredible.
