Can you imagine hauling in and building all that in the light of tallow candles and the lamps of the time? It beggars belief they managed it. Astounding. Brilliant find!

Fantastic joinery in that wheel. Imagine building that above ground and transporting it to assemble down in the mine, pitch black. Routing the water and all the other rods and parts. Just amazing!

Great Googly Moogly! That is some serious Jules Verne type stuff! I can't even imagine thinking about how much engineering and effort to run the Box Launders for Water to power not one but two friggin HUGE waterwheels underground. I mean, they had to excavate the voids the waterwheels would be built in, dig out all the channels for lifts, rods, chains and what ever else they'd need to make all this happen.
Truly this is a hugely significant find for Mining Archaeology, not just in the UK but in the whole world!
Grats to you all, well deserved and earned!

Years of exploring, writing and excavating has now paid off and we need to get the museum up and running so that all the wonderful finds and exhibits can be seen . I urge people to have a go at your underground tours which are great. I hope Al is alright as he seemed under the weather last video. I can't wait until next week.

Utterly spectacular and in such beautiful condition. It's nearly unfathomable to imagine the whole of engineering of this wheel. Really really cool.
You mention that it turns/operates counterclockwise. If you move to the other side is it not then operating clockwise?
I've always been impressed with the Laxey Wheel, Isle of Man, built almost entirely of wood in 1854. It's 72.5 feet in diameter, but totally above ground, so lacking in the underground aspect.

Congratulations, as far as industrial archeology is concerned this as you say is a once in a lifetime find, I can imagine that the WOWEEEEEEEEE when you first found it was so load it could be heard on the surface, Cwm Ciprwth waterwheel is in the next valley to me, it is about the same size and age but it is cast iron, still impressive but on the surface, so your find to be made of nearly all wood and built so far underground is a huge testament to the craftsmen of the day and such an important artifact, because it is organic I am pleased your team have discovered it in time to record it forever and for everyone to apreciate, thank you for sharing.
