I think this might be the only Baton Rouge tourism video. Thank you for going off the beaten path in Louisiana tourism, very cool. The mounds site I don't think has barely any signage or information, I feel like it should have some panels or something saying at least what you guys said here. Also, there's a bus boycott mural I believe down by McKinley. I could see more videos including Southern/Scotlandville, Alton Sterling, Mid-city, Garden District, and the Lakes and Perkins overpass

Great info I learned a lot. I moved to Baton Rouge in 2014. There is a lot of historical places I did not know about and will be sure to visit. There was on place I was disappointed that you didnt mention. There is a Historical Black College that was not mentioned. HBCU's are important as well. Maybe next time.

This was fun! I know you'll never run out of things to talk about when it comes to a city as old and rich as New Orleans, but there's also a lot of charm in these more off the beaten path locations. I knew nothing about Baton Rouge until today. And your own personal stories, not to mention the vibe you have together as friends, adds a ton to the experience. Thanks for another great video! I've been telling lots of people about how delightful y'all are. (I'm a Midwesterner, so that's an honorary y'all.) :)

Love your vids. I live in Skibbereen, Ireland. Major Andrew Power Gallwey, a Skibbereen native, served with the Union Army in the Civil War, died in Baton Rouge and is buried there. I have seen a pic of his headstone. His brother was the second casualty of the war, fatally wounded when a cannon exploded at Fort Sumter. A long way from home.

Well the stadium is known as Deaf Stadium and visiting teams can and have gotten rattled by the roars from LSU fans. Downtown Baton Rouge back in the 1970?s was my play ground, it was a lot different back then. The casino river boats can move and they use to have to sail at different times. They changed that regulation due to the traffic on the river and due to how high the river level would sometimes get. They decided for safety reasons to let the casino river boats stay docked and not have to sail anymore but they are still able to leave the dock and sail the river.

Casino's in Illinois also have to be over water. Harrahs in Metropolis had boats for years. Now we have video poker in every bar, convenience store and truck stop around. Go figure.

My kids ancestors on their paternal grandmother's side were Natchez but after diseases and colonization they joined with the Muskogee Creek people. The Muskogee Creek were where Baton Rouge got its name from their Red Stick band as opposed to the White Stick band. This was documented in the battles Andrew Jackson involved himself in because he was something of a meddling psychopath. If you visit other Native sites please ask a Native person from that tribe or people who are descendants of the tribe. There are 563 federally recognized tribes and we are not homogeneous. Most tribes vary greatly in beliefs and traditions. People don't know about the mounds and they weren't respectful of them because they were dedicated to creating a new country and erasing the people who were living there for 12,000 years.

@@FreeToursbyFootHQ The impression I got honestly, was, if you want to go somewhere, and you can't go anywhere else, try Baton Rouge. It felt empty and passionless. I watched the Garden District tour months ago and it felt like you wanted people to visit there. Kinda waiting for the craziness to die out so I can. This didn't. It may just be me, but I am thankful that awareness of BR as a location is getting out there.

@@jdpitt6 Hi Jeremy. I guess the off-hand remark at the start of the video wasn't the best choice of works. I don't think this video felt empty and passionless. I will say that though both Andrew and Robi have spent time living in BR, they are not experts in aspects of the city like they are in New Orleans. Also, this is more a road trip from New Orleans video and the idea of the video was to bring awareness of the city to our audience (which is mostly focused on NOLA).
