Great video my brother. Glad to say vehicle has been upgraded with oil cooler to prevent this happening again. Also found that the Cat was blocked due to previous turbo broken and parts left inside. Due to high exhaust temps vehicle cut of fuel. The main thing is that the 🐐 of the Nurburgring new what to do in this situation and managed to safely get us to safety. Will be back my brother we go again with more upgrades

His lap in mine produced 134° C oil temp, my (first) lap right after, going as fast as I safely can (also overtaking much more than getting overtaken), produced 116° C. Also I had temperature markers on the brakes, and his lap was the first time those ever hit their minimum temperature :) So yeah, can confirm :)

I think I can explain what exactly happened with the car's brain. I think the car is determining where the "down" is by computing the angle of currently experienced acceleration in relation to the body. So when you sent it close to, say, 2g to the side, that angle was around arctan(2)~=64 degrees and so the car thought it's literally rolling over at that angle. Ford engineers never predicted someone will send it that hard haha. Amazing stuff.

    Great video as always!
Think owner should revise the tune on his ECU, if car was smokey at high revs means that it has too much injection time and/or fuel pressure, causing the EGT to raise quickly over 900 degrees. Car got in limp mode in the uphill high speed section after a while at over 3000rpm. Tune has to be properly refined to keep temperatures under control. Had similar issue on my car, solved it with a little more rail pressure, less injector opening time and different injection timing. 💪🏻
Diesel can be fast and funny if properly tuned!

If you're losing any coolant, it's the cause of white smoke because coolant is leaking through the cylinder head.

As soon as you said there was a lot of smoke I was thinking those EGT's are going to be climbing fast.
Throwing a load of fuel into a diesel is an easy way to make big numbers on a dyno but its also a very fast way to get very high EGT's.
Water meth or nitrous are two ways to cure it. Someone who can actually map a car without just doing a moon tune is the better way.

I would expect limp mode before engine cut off, usually engine will shut off due to fuel system related issues not exhaust temperature, I would expect the high EGT was as a direct result of the fuel system issue as in low rail pressure and extended injection duration leading to high EGT. Also if fuel injection limiters are being respected in the software, the ECU will reduce the torque output of the engine to protect the engine from overheating long before any fuel cut off would come into play....or at least that should be the case

Question: when doing the rev matching/ doing heel and toe technique, how much throttle input should you apply?
And does it slow down if you do the rev match, without the use of brakes?

    • @-BuddyGuy
      @-BuddyGuy ปีที่แล้ว +3

You can practice this without heel and toe, gear changes only, just won't allow you to brake simultaneously. The perfect amount of throttle is that which places the revs exactly where they will be in the next gear down when the gear change is completed. The point of it is the synchros will be spinning at the same speed as you engage the gear and there will be no clashing. You'll know you've done it right if the gear goes in like butter and the revs don't change when you clutch out. It will release dopamine in your brain so practice will be enough, your subconscious does the rest. It's typically a small tap for a split second and depends on the engine's response, and the gearing in the car. Start with small taps rather than mashing it.
