I'm a former costumer for theater and I've created more bespoke items than I can count. (What I'm trying to say is I have experience.) But I've never seen a tip so great as yours to place tracing paper under and over shear fabrics. Thank you!

Glad it helped. I can't cut chiffon without tracing paper, and I love to wear chiffon blouses that I have cut and sewn to match. Instead of throwing old patterns away that I've drafted on tracing paper, I save them to use when cutting.

Oooo these tips make me fear cutting and working with chiffon a lot less

I'm really happy about that, Ceola! That's the goal. Industrial methods are SO much easier to use than the home sewing methods.

Thank you for showing the corner! Every tutorial on rolled hems, I’ve found, only showed the edges. I can finally see that I haven’t been doing corners wrong, I just need more practice.

This is great! Thanks so much. I've only seen two of your videos so far, but I've already learned a lot, and I'm applying your techniques with good results.

Thanks, Megan! We have another mask video about to go up. And after that, it will be how to sew an invisible zipper. Easy to do, professional results every time.

Wow! That’s all. Once I saw this video I was wondering why I didn’t think of this before? As I use the same ‘idea’ when applying bias tape to a neckline, where I stitch it on folded double and then fold back the edge and stitch it down in the edge. Thank you so much for sharing this technique.

Thanks for your comment. I learned this trick from a Jefferson Univ. professor who was instrumental in having me hired to teach there.
I see that you are the founder of the Dutch Couture Academy. Congratulations! VERY impressive!
I think we are on the same path. The world needs what we have to offer. Far too many are sewing for a living, handicapped by outdated, home-sewing methods.
I worked in industrial couture and sportswear in the industry, then wrote eight textbooks (because I couldn't find any that presented how the industry sews) over the 30 years I taught at Jefferson and Drexel Universities in their continuing professional education programs. My program attracted design room and other professionals - we have a number of fashion designing departments here in the Philadelphia area. I asked my students for their input, as I wrote my books and classroom tested them with my students, to make sure what I was writing and diagramming was understandable and of use. Their input was invaluable.
I'm especially proud of "Grading to Fit," which presents custom and other grading techniques; and "Copying a Man's Shirt," which provides the shirt making techniques used in industry, adapted for use in the home. See more at LaurelHoffmann.com
      Regards, Laurel

The chiffon blouse...you lined it with what and did you line the entire blouse. Thank you. Another great lesson.

    • @laurelhoffmann1594

I did NOT line the chiffon blouse. Instead I made a matching solid color shell from silk and wore that under the blouse. Thanks for keeping in touch. We have much more coming. The next video will show shopping in Philadelphia's fabric stores.
I will be teaching a master class for the Association of Sewing and Design Professionals in October at their annual conference, this year in the Baltimore Harbor. www.sewingprofessionals.com/Conference-Instructors

Nothing stops a virus. The Pandemic is a hoax.
But, I do appreciate learning how to cut fine fabrics and hand roll hem a scarf/blouse. I have many fabrics I haven't touched for that reason. Not wanting to ruin them. Now I can enjoy them this summer. Thank you.
