My husband, sister and father agree about left handed people being misrepresented. My mom and I are both ambidextrous so some things work best right handed and some things work better left handed. Go figure!
I've been watching videos on rolled hems for 2 days, but felt something was missing. I had an image in my head from years ago of the needle going into the top crease and somehow, it rolled. All the other videos show them rolling it twice by hand. I'm so glad I kept looking and found this one! I'm assuming you are sewing with one strand of thread?
That's why we're asked to share. It helps their algorithm. I certainly did subscribe. Super great tip. I'm off to an interview so I sped up the video to 2x. That way it's fully seen. Hope this info helps....
Very clear demo thanks. I insert my needle for the lower stitch, in line with the turned edge, i.e. not as low as you show, and the result is a finer thinner roll.
I liked your technique, very nice. Not many appreciate what a hand sewn rolled hem can do for a garment. Thanks for sharing! I have. Been sewing for a long time now and use this technique myself. I use a shorter needle for hand sewing, when I can. It encourages smaller movements, shorter stitches and less stress on the wrist. I also avoid starting a knot on just one layer of fabric when possible, I think having more layers helps with thinner fabrics. I’m left curious on how you start off again on a rolled hem after you’ve run out of thread in the middle of a hem. I think that would definitely be helpful to see. Great content!! I hope you continue to do this!
This is awesome and perfect timing! I am working with Chiffon and will be taking my garment with me and do all the hand stitching carefully. Thank you!
I tried this and it's the best method, Thank you! Neat and fast, and I'm a total beginner! I decided to make a scarf for a formal event I have coming up. I couldn't find the colour I want in shops, and everything online is above what I'm willing to spend, so I thought, how hard could it be to make one?
I paint silk scarves and I want to sew a hand-rolled hem using silk thread. Is it all the same with habotai silk 10mm(momme) and silk charmeuse 19.7mm(momme) as what you showed here with the cotton?
It's so comforting to watch a fellow lefty do this. I don't have to "translate " movements. Thank you
This is the best tutorial I’ve ever seen on this technique. I especially love seeing a leftie sewing. We’re seriously underrepresented.

thank you so much! very much appreciated :)
Same here from a fellow lefty. I’ve been sewing for 50 years.
I bought couture silk panels from a bargain warehouse to make gifts, and this video is perfect for me. Thank you! ❤

Yes it’s one strand of thread. I like to wax the thread with bees wax to give the thread strength. Xx
Thank you 🙏 so much for this excellent tutorial ❤
I believe one strand of thread is use; I'm relieved I thought to hem something was difficult 😌 🧵
Beautiful demonstration ,your voice is calm and soothing, not rushing just perfect for tutorials.
thank you so much :)

Thank you from Truckee California. I'm fixing the fray on garters for irish Gallagher kilt socks. Smile.
As a fellow leftie, this tute is perfect, and I will be sewing a rolled hem for a scarf I am gifting to my aunt. Thank you so ever much!

It's very helpful. Thank you so much!
Thank God, YT showed me your channel. 😇
thank you so much! i'm glad it's helpful
Do you do back stitches every now and then so that the whole hem doesn't unravel if the thread breaks

When you’re finished stitching, do you press or steam to avoid a sharp edge?
normally there's no need to press it, but you can judge if you need to like if the fabric is wrinkled.
Thanks for the video. It's lovely. Is this hem suitable for a circle skirt?
yes absolutely!
did anyone else go "ooooooo" when she pulled the thread and it rolled? lol
xXX👍👍👍
Fiiiirst
hahahaha :)

Looks nice, unfortunately it's not that useful for right-handed sewists.
Is it not just the same process but in the reverse direction? Straight up, diagonal to the left, straight up, diagonal to the left, etc.
Thank you SO much for this video 😊
I handsew all my dresses and trying to find more (quality) advanced techniques is tricky ❤ 🧵 🪡
