When my family migrated from Bangladesh after partition, many had settled in Allahabad, both my parents grew up there, they studied in St Mary's and St Josephs, many of my relatives have graduated from the Allahabad University, I used to visit this city every summer as a kid, Alfred park, katra, civil lines, sangam.... Since I never could connect with an ancestral house or land, this place filled that position. I definitely feel more connected to this place than any part of Bengal.

I was born in allahabad in 2001 and I am very shocked to see that it was so much developed back then. This much vibrancy on streets is more or less similar to that of today's. Most of the parts are almost identical, nothing much changed. This shows that development hasn't took plac at required pace here. Cast politics has lead to favourism of one or more divisions of society and little attention was given to infrastructural development. Pleased to see the amount of cultural events happening in those times which is missing nowadays The only exception is kumbh mela which became bigger and bigger over days.
A city wasted and neglected since the beginning of the 1990s. Had the ruling state governments and the central government of India taken good care of this once a prosperous and well cultured and well educated city, it would have been like today's Pune or Bangalore or Hyderabad. Lucknow, Kanpur and Allahabad could have been like Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune of the North India.

I was born in 1968 in Barauni, far away from Allahabad. I came to Allahabad in 1988. Today, in 2024, I am watching this film. There was no difference between Allahabad of 1968 and 1988. Today in 2024, a lot has changed but many signs that were there in 1968 can still be seen in Johnstonganj.

Allahabad was neglected because every finance minister is from Tamil Nadu and then it's Maharashtra and Gujarat who gave highest number of finance minister and RBI governor and as a result maximum development and government project went to their states.
Allahabad/Prayagraj was a decent city with best education infrastructure... Shifted along with family here in 2015 for school & higher education... sadly no govt did any better job here regarding infrastructure till the yogi govt in 2018 onwards. But reality is changing here on very fast pace since lot of development work are going on. City is going to host mahakumbh 2025 which will be bigger than ever as per the govt. 🤞💙

The country side graveyard still is there and i used to go there to fetch milk from a small family of milkmen who used to live there. I have seen all those graves and was amazed to see that most of them had died of common diseases that are still pervelent and we Indians to a certain extent are immune from them.
Whatever it is but atleast we got to see the glimpses back to 1968. Amazing to see how we have transformed ourself after British left India. We have built India back again.And this couldn't have been possible without education. Education shaped us what we are today. He gave to be grateful to our leaders who build some prestigious institutes. British have left nothing for us to grow. It was Education which brought Indians on the world map.

Main problem of India after independence was people living standards dropped vastly which forced them to believe in jugaad culture and see the world around them in short sight. As the result of it we are poorly organized and don't think systematically even till this date. 😢 it will take another few years for everyone to see our country as one and work on problems with long plan.
For example?
@@ashishmanoharsingh Roads, plots houses, colonies, infrastructure, electricity wiring, sewer system, education system. Everything is here and there, bits and pieces and doesnt make sense as a whole. If I may use my ADHD as a personification to explain our country's situation (Lots of potential but with chaos deep inside).

Do you know? Allahbad name has been changed by gov.. Now it's called *"Prayagraj"* .. Well, I like Prayagraj name more than allahbad..!
