You are in the same place we were last year. My 3 had 75K on the clock and we had thrown some money at it to get there. For some reason that one needed the roller you pointed at every other year! The last one costing double as it was an upgrade (55mm shaft and bearings plus housing) and I had replaced everything in the pickup reel. Ours wasn’t a plus and we had a few customers pushing for film binding so we went for it. Decided on a new 4 plus with cam less pickup and 1000 speed box. It’s without doubt the best Fusion we’ve had (it’s our 7th) and is so nice to use. The pickup is the biggest upgrade. I’ve had a low bale count year this year at 10.5K but it’s worked flawlessly on everything I’ve baled. The intake is superb also. Biggest difference when chopping in big heavy or lumpy swaths run rings round the old 3. Those gearbox end bearings you pointed at that you keep replacing have been massively improved to double row jobs and the rotor shaft and bearings are bigger amongst dozens of smaller upgrades. It’s a great machine. Worst thing of course is the £1250 going out every month now it’s sitting in the shed doing nothing until May! Very big decision indeed.
David The baler is a credit to you. No scratches on the panels and in great mechanical shape. And it puts on barell rap . It will be no problem sell it .
How about buying a hs2000 and attaching it onto the 5500? You will have the best of both worlds. You will get two balers to every wrapper so keeps the payments lower and still have the best of both worlds.
I think u should thing about the kuhn fbp3135 combi with the 2 750 mill rolls of plastic as its cheaper way of nrf and the 3d wrapping also saves wrap the intergal rotor auger is a massive job with a great intake we run a standerd kuhn baler wouldn't change it plus john dolan in balidine is a pure gental man to deal with for kuhn
@@LuccaThornton-y9r I’d imagine it’s the 3d system that’s patented not the idea of using normal plastic.. mchales would have to come up with there own way of applying it like all the different brands of baler using barrel wrap. Anyways it’s only rumours here in the west of Ireland.. apparently there was a prototype baler out this summer just gone.
Hi Pat, if you've cash handy upgrade. If you have to go the route of monthly payments I don't know. It all depends on your bale count and by the sounds of it you are ambitious to grow the business. You mentioned trading the 550 for a Fusion. Look at all the options turn it up side down, but be wary of shiny metal disease and finance companies.
If you could pick up a 2020/21 model 3 plus with the camless pick up and a low Bale count you’d be laughing. They’re just a fusion 4 with the fusion 3 tech. Absolute animals to take stuff and actually seem to make a better bale than the 4s do.
First video of yours ive seen. Thumbs up and Subscribed! Rew up on a dairy farm in West Cork. Now living in Mississippi working in mining.
Thanks and welcome

I believe mchales are coming with there own version of using two normal roles of plastic instead of the barrel wrap
@TheMardigra from what I gather if they do that they will be in court with kuhn have that pattended

I didn't hear or see it I'm in mayo myself strange I suppose i cut ties with machale when I went kuhn
i’d recommend taking a look at a kuhn half of people trading in fusions go for a kuhn and haven’t a good word for the fusion compared to the kuhn

Do you do wrapping in the one location as opposed to wrapping with the fusion and if so does this work cost more?
New fusion 4 will take 30 foots, is a big time saver! Clean baler that!
Have a fusion 3 standard 2017 and it takes 30fts all year round 1st 2nd cut no problem
I would be trading her in if it was mine. and maybe try a Kuhn..

Kuhn fast bale 👌
