5 years of daily use on my $70 klarus xt, I much prefer a double walled webbing belt...mine is basically the same as yours but double layered. Fantastic belt...5 years of daily use on that as well, still going strong.

I started carrying a bandana in my back pocket everyday about a year ago. Normally its only ever used to blow my nose or wipe away sweat. However, last fall I had to use my bandana for one of the uses you mentioned. We were at my boys' little league football game and about 2 minutes into the game one of the other boys on the team suffered an injury. Somehow, he managed to RIP off the tip of his ring finger. When he rolled out from under the pile of kids he was holding his hand, screaming bloody murder and I could see the blood running down his arm. Being an EMT, I immediately ran out on the field, grabbed my bandana from my pocket and wrapped it around his finger until someone could retrieve a proper first aide kit from their car. Having a bandana wasn't the difference between life and death but it really helped being able to wrap his finger up so that him and his teammates couldn't see it.
Cody, I am a logger in the Tug Hill region of upstate New York. I carry and Emerson wave Spyderco Delica 4 every day in the woods. it has a deep carry pocket clip on it that I bought on eBay. since I started using the deep carry pocket clip I have never lost a knife, this is going on four years now. just something to consider if you ever want another clip knife. you won't lose a deep carry like you will a regular carry.
Cody, Consider the 4-way screwdriver which comes in Craftsman Screwdriver Sets. I have carried on on my pocket key ring for nearly forty years, comes in handy more than the keys do. A man carried his wallet on the left side if he is right handed so that when accessing its contents, he does not have to move the wallet from one hand to the other. On the same principle as wearing a watch on your off hand arm and not on your primary arm. I have carried my Streamlight Mini-Mag since it came out in the 90's. Still using the same one, some of the parts have worn out, but are replaceable and it continues to serve. I carry the small LED Strion in its small pouch on my belt now, even when off duty.
Just last night I was helping my dad load his side by side on the trailer coming out of the woods and I clipped My Surefire Backup flashlight on my hat like you do. I actually do it quite often. Thanks for a great vid Cody.
I have my Fenix Tk 16 for about a year now and I abused it really, really hard, and it never ever had any issues. Waterproof, dropped from 5 meteres broken glas and and and. It has one button for light on and another one for stob mode, perfectly simple.
Agree, Fenix is one awesome light company. I beat the pants off my lights and they all work just like the day I bought them, every single one is a Fenix. Nuff said!

Three blade stockman oldtimer schrade was my first knife. My dad and granddaddy both carried the small stockman. I liked the medium size one . But I have gone to a case stockman because I have a lot of trouble sharing and keeping the newer oldtimers sharp. Thanks for video !
I've been lucky with my Four Sevens so far. Several years of camping, hiking, SAR, working on cars, and even a motorcycle crash with the outline of it bruised into my hip, still works. Though if it does die, I'll probably look into your suggestions instead of pressing my luck.
I own 2 different Four Sevens lights, and have had them for 3-4 years, and I've never had a single problem with them, they both work perfectly. I now carry an Olight, and I don't have any issue with it, I click the switch and it turns on haha, no modes I have to cycle through to get to the setting I want because it has a memory on it. Whatever setting I want it to turn on as, it turns on to that lumen output, no problem. The only lights I've had that have just stopped working were Streamlights, both me and my brother in-law have owned several, and they all got to where they wouldn't turn on.

I have the same knife in camo, and I love it. I'm not in the woods as much as you unfortunately, so I added a clip since it is a little heavy in the pocket for my liking. I wear it everyday and use it everyday. I like the soft steel...easy to sharpen.
I switched to a lumamax because of your first edc video. I was able to buy one used 2 years ago and she's still running strong. It came with a broken clip and replaced it with a clip draw, that was 2 years ago and the glue is still holding strong.

i been carrying my Surefire G2 led for years and it still works like the first day i got it! not the slimmest flashlight but its a tank of a flashlight.
I used to use one of those instructor belts but the buckle kept making holes in all my tee-shirts and it didn't hold up so well for daily carry. I ended up buying an ares gear aegis belt. Best gun belt I've ever used. I would suggest them to anyone looking to buy once. And I can wear it with my skinny jeans too!

I have the same Victorinox Trekker SAK as you. I'm pretty sure the forester has a cork screw instead of the screw driver. I have had if for almost a year now and its awesome. The uses are endless. I did make one small addition to it I stated carrying a sewing needle in the with the tweezers in the slot I find it to be very handy for removing splinters that have broken off under the skin and just general poking and scratching things
I kept losing my EDC FourSevens Preon P2 flashlight, as well. So, now I use the T-REIGN Large Retractable Gear Tether, 48 Inch Kevlar Cord, with a rotating belt clip (also available with caribiner or Velcro strap). Been carrying the same light for 3 years now.
Wranglerstar - I have that same belt buckle. I bought it and the webbing separately, I run the webbing doubled and unstitched as my belt. You may find that is too much bulk but it has come in real handy rigging up all sorts of things for temporary situations. I can also cut off a short length to use as a patches or other gear repairs in the field. I used the same stuff to fix a hole in a canvas duffle bag, stitched in with a sail cloth needle and dental floss.
I also have the same pocket knife.. I agree, it's a good working knife, variants of it are currently government issue for the Swiss, German and US armies. Mine is the German version the handles are green with no tweezers or pick. I'll modify it so I can add those on, one of these days
If you want a bandanna that's different just go to a fabric store and buy a yard of cotton fabric in any color or print that pleases. Cut and hem to make your own personal handkerchiefs, any size you want.
There are far too may pocket dump fashion shows out there, but your practical simplicity makes this EDC video worth watching. Thanks for sharing.

Your can also use your belt as a quick rappel harness/sling with an attached carabiner or rope through buckle

I could not leave this message on the truck prep. You do so well at working through your topics of choice that I have to answer how long with the answer Ma Kelly (US History II) gave a pupil. Retired Deputy Sheriff here. I still have my Incandescent Sure Fire Executive that uses two of the 123 cells, and it still works like a champ at 14 years old.
I only have one compact carry weapon and that is a Sig p229 in .40 cal. but don't have a holster for it yet. I still carry my full size with a blackhawk holster.
Enjoyed this one. You have cut the crap and found what is important for you and what works. I respect your knife decision. I carry an Opinel #9 on a daily basis and love it. For fixed blade and skinners I have always leaned towards traditional Buck. As far as flashlights, I really dig the cheapo LED pocket lights you find in the checkout aisle of Lowes and Home Depot.I have these lights everywhere, I must own 20 of the things. They seem to work okay, a nice bright light. I can understand being a first responder or really depending on a good light this would not work for you. But for me it fits the bill. I also still carry a cheap Bic lighter wherever I go though I quit smoking well over a decade ago now.

Im not a big flashlight guy myself but I recently got an Olight S1 Baton Ti..About the size of your thumb and kicks out 500 lumens with a magnetic bottom..This completely got me appreciating them and carrying it everyday
Great EDC! That Vic was my first Vic. I find it is more of a designated camping knife than and EDC due to size and my one is semi-serrated.
My father always carried two handkerchiefs, especially when we were camping or harvesting firewood. He would fold one up and use it as a pot holder while cooking over a campfire or for heating coffee. He would carry a blue handkerchief in one pocket and a red handkerchief in the other pocket. His motto was "Red for the hot stuff, blue for the snot stuff!"

Good video. I would change the holster personally. I have a holster that is pretty fast on and off and doesn't slide around on the belt like that. Personal preference. Love your stuff, been binge watching all your ax videos and am getting the cold steel for a start, ax file and the stone. Thanks for the great content.

I have a similar one with a proprietary buckle developed for emergency rappelling/ EDC by a guy i know, who was special forces A team. He rapelled off a 100ft tower with it,
but designed it sleek enough for EDC jeans normal wear.

I carry a Schrade Old Timer too. I don't often need a big blade and the Old Timer will open boxes and trim wire just fine.
Good synopsis. I need to check in to a few of those suggestions for myself. However, and this is not a complaint, rather simply a fact; of the two Surefire lights I've owned over the past 12-15 years, both failed. Failures were usually in the switch mechanism. I still have the lights in hopes that I can patch them someday, but for now the one that has never let me down in over 25 years has been a mini-mag. Bulbs have failed of course, but the function and design of the light is solid.
Victorinox One Handed Trekker. I carry the same knife in an XL Victorinox Zermatt leather sheath. Really like it.
Great video as always Cody, I have gone to using camo handkerchiefs myself. I have had great luck with the latest generation LED mini 2x AAA maglight. I have an old nylon AA maglight belt slide sheath for it and the extra space in the sheath gives me room to put a pencil in with it both of which I use every day. I like your Swiss knife and would like to purchase one and try it out.
I noticed your handkerchief/bandanna is (probably) the American made "Have-a-Hank" brand! That double paisley teardrop shape is a sure give away. I don't know if you had the same difficulty finding American made bandannas, but at least around here (Connecticut) the Chinese made ones are the most common in stores. I just thought I'd plug the brand because I think you and I and most of your followers are of a like mind to always buy the American made option, even for something as simple as a bandanna.
Nice holster i really like it.......you are right about the flashlights, have a nitecore ea11 for a few months and it no longer works, warranty they dont respond to emails......
I carry a streamlight microstream everyday. Super small and very durable. It's been through the washing machine at least 20 times. It only gets about 2 hours or so out of a aaa battery but I usually pull it out many times a day and its only on for maybe ten seconds. And it's bright enough to be used in a defensive encounter with a handgun if necessary.
AGREED!!!!!!! I use my flashlight day in and day out and use it A LOT. I do not have the best finances these days so I was excited to see the price of Thrunite's lights vs Surefire...even Streamlight. So I bought one and for the first week or so was super happy. It then started acting up and finally died with in a month... I at first thought maybe it was the batteries so I held off sending it back until I could get some good Lithium or just another set of GOOD batteries. Well turned out that it was not the batteries but the light had died. I was however now passed the 30 day return to Amazon(Amazon is like their Canadian distributor or something light that ). I now had to send it back at my cost, not to happy since this was not an abuse or miss use kind of thing. The other thing that really bothered me was after reading the warranty policy the warranty only applies to the purchased light so if you have a warranty issue and they send you a new light....then that stops working you are no longer covered. I have yet to receive the repaired or replaced light sop I cannot comment on that BUT I can say from now on I will never buy another Thrunite and only be buying brands that just work...may not have all the bells and whistles but they just work and that to me is more important then have 10 different modes and brightness settings.
One hand opening saw on the Victorinox. The tip of the saw extends just a bit to allow you to hook the tip on something and open the saw blade. Made that way on purpose. I have the Rescue Knife and their German Army Trekker

Another great Victorinox product . They also make the best heavyweight , and middleweight multitools , the Swisstool , and Spirit . Quite compact in relation to their implement density / functionality . The Victorinox Alox knives , like the Pioneer and Farmer are very rugged , and usefull .
I always enjoy your videos and this another good one. If you would rather carry your Victorinox during non-working times this might help. For work I carry a generic 'Buck-styled' folding knife. I don't like to carry it in a front pocket, as it just doesn't fit right. A friend told me to put it in my back pocket vertically next to my wallet. Works well, can't tell it's there. Access is also easier than fishing for the knife in a front pocket. If you aren't carrying a wallet disregard the suggestion. The knife doesn't carry well in a back pocket without the wallet to keep it vertical. Give this a trial for a few days and see if it works for you. Thanks for all the work you do to provide some of the best videos available.
County Comm sells the Maratac AAA flashlight. I carry one on a chain under my flight suit and for EDC. Hasn't failed for a couple of years and works great. Just a thought for a tiny light that puts out the lumens.
The Victorinox Forester or Trekker , both one hand knifes are excellent. The additional tools are worth it, and if you want it as a clip on knife you can buy a clip conversion kit form swiss bianco and makes it the perfect EDC knife. Thanks for the video, that Glock holster is very nice.
I have always owned a rechargeable flashlight that is small enough to fit in my pocket & lately, I am noticing that rechargeable flashlights are harder to find & the one that I have now, the name has worn off so, I do not know the make nor model! It was purchased at walmart years ago, It is white & of course it is a bit dimmer these days & yellowed but, it always works! It plugs into any outlet & the plug folds in on itself & tucks out of the way when not in use. I really like it & cannot find it anywhere! I do like your holster!!!

Have you ever had a maglite? I've used their pocket sized flashlights all the way up to the 6D cell light and they have never failed me. They are beautifully machined,fully waterproof(I have tested this many times) and they are made right here in the USA.

I have carried the same Benchmade 730 in the right front, every day for 15 years. My double front Carhartts have a Strike Force flint/steel in the left leg pocket. A Surefire in the front of the inner, big pocket on the right leg with a Fluke Volt Alert behind (I work around electricity and have trust issues). A pen is in the outer right leg pocket. A cased note pad is in left rear with a wallet in the right. Both have the same narrow profile to avoid back problems. I have tried the Multi-tool on the belt but it has never lasted more than a few days. I carry a work phone and a personal phone ( different carriers ) and the Multi-tool starts to give me the "Batman Utility Belt" look and real tools are usually close by. At this point I feel out of sorts when I am missing just one piece. Where not prohibited by law or employer, I have my little "Austrian Friend" or a larger S&W.

I know this video is old but. I love your content. I run a surefire G2X on my AR and it hasn’t quit yet. I’ve had it only for a year so far. And it hasn’t seen much beating. But. Hope for the best right? Haha. Keep it up! I love the homesteading ideal of life. I’ve grown up as a hard worker. My grandpa has taught me everything I know. That's why I carry a camo bandana! I also carry a small swiss army knife and a small box cutter, a challenge coin and my colt 380. Suit and tie or jeans and flannel, its still the same.
I carry my grandfathers old Schrade single blade from time to time as well.
You should give Kershaw knives a solid go. A great company founded and based in Oregon. They have an incredible warranty program and the locks on the locking knives are superb, they've never once failed on my and I tend to be incredible hard on my knives from sailing to backpacking to camping and survival.
Hey Cody, you should check out Lens-Light. Im sure your LX2 is awesome but if your looking for another great american made flashlight thats super simple and easy to use you have to check them out. Ive had a Lens-Light mini for about 3 years now and its rock solid. It has a high: 300, Low:5 and adjustable beam so you can adjust from flood to pinpoint which is probably the best part. I also got my brother one when he joined the Marines. I got him the K.O. (the bigger version) and he said he loves it too. He told me he was doing a patrol once and dropped it while it was on about 25-30 feet onto concrete and figured it was shot. About an hour later he went back to get it and it was still on haha. They are built like tanks. There expensive but totally worth it. Just thought I'd give you a heads up next time your in the market. Awesome video btw!
Hey Cody, I know you stopped carrying clip knives, I had the same problem with them coming out of my pocket and losing knives. I started carrying a Walmart buck vantage with a zip tie in the deployment hole. I haven't lost in 3 years, and even if you do, it's only 20 bucks! Giver a try
I was amazed when I saw you had a Schrade Old Timer! My dad recently gave me his Old Timer and I love it! I also recently started keeping a handkerchief with me and I love it. Mine is pink haha! I figured nobody would assume I'm in a gang and it's my favorite color.
Some might think the tweezers on the knife are a little bit stupid. Last spring I was out hiking and put my foot in a covered hole that was hidden by last years dead/skeezy blackberry thorny branches, when I took my foot out the hole the thorns ripped right into my leg. Had to try to take them out with the tip of a hooked pruning knife as I didn't have tweezers, not too surprisingly, it didn't work and the leg became pretty infected, a pair of tweezers might have sorted that out in a few seconds (with some surgical alcohol), a handy (almost weightless) tool to have!!
I could not have stated the reason why I watch Cutlerylover any better than that. He comes across as so completely genuine that each video I hope that some thing positive (blessings) has happened for him and his family. Love your videos. I really find the EDC stuff fascinating.

That bandana story was pretty good! I had to laugh when you brought up the pink because I was thinking the same thing. They sound like they were a fun group to work with.
If you are willing to look around for a minute, you can get bandanas/handkerchiefs with nearly anything on them. I have one with a survival guide printed on it, got it at my hunters safety course.
Whats your stance on carrying/wearing a shemagh/keffiyeh? I'd likely not wear or carry one in town for fear of drawing attention to myself, but it's definitely an item with a lot of utility, and can be had at a very reasonable price.
I live in Canada so I can't even legally carry half the items you do lol but one thing you might consider is a slim wallet. You will feel naked and panic the first few weeks but after that breaking in period the space/weight you save is worth it, not to mention saves your back from sitting on the wallet all the time. I use a cheap Dash 3.0 wallet but there are definitely better ones out there. I'd also be curious to know what your key ring looks like, one of those 10lb janitorial ones?
The only other flashlight that I have they is as good as the surefire lumimax is the elzetta. I bought the surefire on your recommendation Cody, and it has been a brute! Great flashlight. Buy once, cry once.
Try the Cree range they rock less than £2 from Amazon all the way up to £20 for a torch you could play baseball with or persuade some one that no means no. I have them and they are tough, my grand kids play with them all the time.
My wife carries her dads who has been long pasted, it's worn down, you can see through it from being washed so many times, but it reminds her of him

I carry that same Victorinox knife. I glued on a nite-ize pocket clip to it though. It doesn't have as many features as some of your larger, heavier multi-tools but damn has it been handy.
I have a fenix pd32 and i think its pretty much perfect for my EDC. Minus the 2 CR123's you have to use...
I only use white or light blue handkerchiefs.

My everyday carry is simple. Leatherman sidekick. Great little multitool. Also a $ 10 walmart flash light. That way if I loose it so what. It works good. Solid little light. That's it.
Your knife is a good choice. I got my verry first Swiss knife at the age of 12, a simple one, just two blades, a screwdriver with bottle opener and a second one with a can opener plus a cork puller and an ahle.
I still have it in a drawer.
Then I bought myself what today is called "Evolution S557", with scissors, a plier, saw, file and several other tools because I started riding motorbikes, and Leathermans Tools were not invented yet. I carried it until I got my first, the original Leathermans Tool.
Only some years later I bought another Swiss Knife, because I was not impressed of the steel of the Leatherman. This time the "great Swiss Army Knife", one of the first ones of the shape you carry, today it is called "Work Champ", with fixable blade, file, saw, plier, Philips screwdriver and two flat ones, and so on. This one I carry now for literally the second half of my live, the half of 60 years.
The same time I found the "Swiss Tools", who are a lot more precise machined and made of a better steel than the original Leatherman large I used to carry at the time. The plier on these is as precice as a tweezer, and every tool is fixable. I highly recommend them.
I have two Swiss Tools, my first one that is about 25 - 28 years a real EDC, and a newer one that is 15 years with me. Its a slight different one, only one blade, but scissors.
Still wearing the knife and the Swizz Tool, because I am still riding motorcycles, and I am a working musician. I use the tool and the knife every day.
Ah yeah, beeing a big ColdSteel fan for a long time, I allways carry one of their knifes as a secondary blade. They have stunning, massive and realy sharp and useful folders.
I wear an austri alpin belt with a Cobra buckle it breaks either at 18kN or 9kN. The aluminum buckle is machined in Tirol in Austria.
i still like my pocket clip knife.. i did loose a benchmade after having it about 10 years... now i carry a sog twitch. so far i have really liked this blade.. the pocket clip is very sturdy...
Great video as always, thanks! Handkerchiefs are always a good idea, I prefer a medium gray, no affiliation (I think) and it's less hot in the sun! I used to carry a pocket knife with a clip but it's a frame lock, now I often carry a leatherman style multitool in a heavy duty belt sheath! Love that belt, please send me the info where I can get some!
I'm in the woods all the time and never had one of my knives get snagged out, even when going through some dense brush. Albeit I've never owned a benchmade, but I do have a few spydies, a couple CRKT's, and some Kizers, all seem to have decent clips that don't get snagged.
It's just all about where at one the knife it's located, and how deep it sits in the pocket. I generally take my Southard when I'm in the woods because I like the blade shape and I haven't lost it..yet.
I see you carry in your front pocket though, that's most likely your problem. I carry in my back pocket on my dominant hand side.
I just got healed up from slicing a nice gash into my left hand pinky finger from my knife carried on a clip. my nail my have caught on the tip of the blade as I was putting something into my pocket. I now keep my folder all the way into my pocket.

So true about those multi function push button led flashlights. I have yet to find one that last more than a year of lite use. So i went back to cheap old fashion non-led flashlights. They're big and you can't put them in you pocket, but they last and last. I got one in the car flicks on now just as good as it did 2 years ago. Those led lights could only dream of being as good 😂

No sir, it is not just about guns and knives for me. I've got my black hanky/bandana in one pocket and quite often put my GREEN, maroon, red, blue or camo one in the other, depends on what color underwear I'm wearing. Loved your edc vid as I am really growing doubtful of all the massive pocket "edc" kits that everyone and their granny are doing. At least one knife, at least one lighter, at least one bandana(usually black), at least one pen and pocket note pad, at least one flashlight, what else can you carry without having a Luke Skywalker utility belt?
Streamlight Scorpion best flashlight for the price. Rubber coated, simple operation, waterproof and reliable. Is there a pistol more divisive than Glock?
I agree I've owned several olights and thrunites and fenix lights and they are all broken I'm getting a surefire next well see how it stands up lol
I have much respect for this channel, so I'm a fan. I got to disagree on the flashlight portion of this video, Fenix brand flashlights are personally my favorite lights. They never fail, I live in Maine on the ocean, myself and my gear have gone through just about everything from -80 degree winters on a frozen island to 110 degrees on katahdin knifes edge. I dropped my e05 fenix in a stream while fishing found it the next spring after the thaw, swapped out the AA battery and It fired right up. I carry a PD35 daily and i've put it through a lot on job sites, it never fails. Other lights might suck like streamlight and fourseven but I'd take a Fenix to hell and back over a surefire.
Cody, ever considered a Coast flashlight? They are pretty reasonable and dependable from my viewpoint. Losing one of them would hurt a lot less than that Lumamax. And, while I think production occurs overseas, the headquarters is in Portland.
