need help have pond one air pump fitting 18mm I need to adapt to 8mm air pipe any ideas? The pump came with a rubber tube that is about 18mm but can not seem to find a fitting for my large air stone that has a 8mm pipe.7
Hi, I have a playlist on making one of these th-cam.com/video/Owi_M1ON-oo/w-d-xo.html However the one in this video is just a www.tetra-fish.com/pond/products/filtration/waterfall-filter.aspx in a wooden box. hope that helps
Thank you for this video this is exactly how I want my pond too look! so I've pretty much copied the way you've built yours...just about too get my posts it 🙂
Could you tell me what filtration system your using now as I'm currently deciding what system to go with. I'm basically same looking pond as you but I'm doing a 8ftx 4ft x 4ft depth. I dont want to install a bottom drain incase it leaks... looking for something simple and effective.. alll the best
@@rodgie84 Hi, I am currently using a shower filter. It sits over a corner of the pond you can see it here th-cam.com/video/7FoK4j6jjK0/w-d-xo.html and saves me space and works well. I was running a large flow through filter. A larger version of my original one. I made this from a plastic tub th-cam.com/video/BI6o9lotEOE/w-d-xo.html but it took up so much space was great though even had a planter in the top.
Hi Kel, I was thinking about making a waterfall like the one you have in this video, my pond is 5x5 ft and 2 ft deep. i only have a hozelock easyclear 4500 that gives you a fountain but there is an attachment that you can run a hose from it. do you think it will be ok to connect it to the waterfall or do i need an external filter/pump. thanks steve.
Hi, It could work it all depends how high you are going to be pumping water, pumps have a head pressure limit and looking at hose locks site says it is around 0.5meters which isnt very high. however a smallish return pump in the bottom of the pond would also do it. If it was me I would have a go with the one i had as the worst that can happen is it doesn't pump high enough and you put it back to how you have it now and carry on as you are and buy a cheap return pump when you can. You can pick up pumps with head hights of around 6 foot pretty cheap.
Ha I literally have the same problem... my fish growing out of my blagdon infinity pool. Just searching youtube for ideas for the pond build. Yours looks great. Definatly think I'm going to use timber for the fame.
The Blagdon infinity pools are great little ponds they just don't really work long term for most pond fish. Mine is still going strong 3 years later th-cam.com/video/liJLK8FKSF4/w-d-xo.html
Hi , The filter is a tetra waterfall filter www.tetra-fish.com/pond/products/filtration/waterfall-filter.aspx the pump is an oase AquaMax Eco Classic 5500 www.oase-livingwater.com/en_GB/water-garden/products/p/aquamax-eco-classic-5500.1000079300.html.
Hi Gerald, The liner goes under the decking on the top so if it does overflow the water just flows over the liner and goes under the top and down the sides. I tend to leave the water inch or 2 from the top and i think it has only overflowed slightly once in the last couple of years. I also have a backwash on the filter so if i am about when it is getting close to overflowing i can just pipe the water down a drain with the turn of a switch.
Hi , Kel Nice pond set up , what did you paint the pond decking with , is it something special or just decking paint or fence paint , I was going to build something similar myself but was worried the paint might foul the pond water when it rained .
Hi. It is just Ronseal Fence life stain. Exterior stain for fences and sheds its been on 2 years and I have not had a single issue. just make sure its dry before you fill the pond and you will be fine. The rain does not do anything to it my waterfall is always splashing it and dripping into the pond from the filter box
Hi, I am using an 5500 LPH pump (1453.4 us GPH or 1200 Imperial GPH). I have got an 8500 lph one to put on it but I am having no problems so far with the 5500 so its staying on until it breaks :) Almost forgot I also have a 2nd pump in just to gently circulate water its about 2500lph
Elegant and serene pond. Great work! May it bring many years of enjoyment.

What about rain? How do you keep it from over flowing
