- Use your pocket knife to whittle. Simple and quick whittle, great for beginners.

Wood: Pine (1x), rip cut in half
Knife: Small 3 blade "cheap" pocket knife. I ground down the bevel to make it more suitable for whittling.
Proof that the knife doesn't make the carver.
Really awesome work with a really cheap knife. Well done!
Thanks!
Fun to watch. Thanks for taking the time to show the process!
Thank you Colleen!
Great job on the eyes & nose my hangup. Like your style
Thanks very much Darryl.
That is one sharp pocket knife!
A bit of time on a diamond stone and some stropping does the trick!
You have that knife amazingly sharp. All i use are folding pocket knives to whittle and you can see yours is SHARP.👍
Hey Juan! Cool that you use folding pocket knives - great to whittle anytime, anywhere. Thanks for watching 👍✌
@@WhittlingWoods the hardest part about whittling is learning how to sharpen a knife. Honestly that pocket knife you were using has to be the sharpest i have ever seen. I know knives by flexcut and others come sharp but what do you do when they get dull. And i like the nostalgia that goes with using a folding pocket knife😊
@@JuanGarcia-ig4zl Recently I pulled out a knife a had that could not even cut paper - put it on a diamond stone and then some ceramic stones, stropped it - now its whittling sharp. I just used it here th-cam.com/video/7XTbg3MWwIQ/w-d-xo.html
Thanks again Juan
The "experts" tell you that you need a good expensive carving knife or carving set. He busted that myth, with an $8 pocket knife .
Thanks! Even better try the Stanley 199 utility knife - around $6
@@WhittlingWoods that's what I whittle with now and I love it!

Great knife, wish I had one. Thanks for sharing your time.
Thanks. I picked the knife up about 10 years ago, I think it was around $8 new.
Looks like a rough rider. Nice knives and super affordable.

Thanks much Gene!
rough rider 282. I think. I have one like yours. love it.
Yes I believe it is a Rough Rider. I purchased it about 10 years ago. Thanks!
Cool !!!
:) :) :)
Thanks.
Cool carving, thanks
Thank you Tom.
Absolutely loved it!!!! I like that you use just a regular pocket knife that you beveled to the shape that you needed...I like that you used pine and are not hung up on basswood... I like that I can actually see every cut but you are making....
Glad you liked it Ron!
NICE WORK. You make it look easy, the sound i hear is like You are cutting into stirofoom, is your wood treated with somthing?
Thank you! The wood is just a piece of dimensional untreated lumber from one of the big box stores.👍✌
Please more pocket knife whittles.
You are in luck . . . I have one will be posting on Sunday 3/12. 👍✌
What is the model of your Rough Ryder knife...thank you for the vides.
👍👍👍
Thank you Roberto! I purchased the knife many years ago - it may be an older version of the RR Stockman👍✌
That’s either some soft wood or a sharp knife, or both 😂
It is a pine 1x from the big box store, pretty soft, but the knife is also sharp! 👍✌️
What wood? Balsa?
A 1x piece of pine. 👍✌️
Can you give a link to buy that knife
I bought it many years ago. It is made by Rough Rider.
