Ex-ILM guy here. I love your stuff man. I worked for Volker Engel years after independence day and he has one of these ships in his office. I of course had to touch it 😂
Yeah, i did try a bit of sponging, but it was far to small in detail to make the look of the original model. It was a bit of a leap of faith LOL. Thanks for checking it out :-)
Cool. Thats what i did on my lindberg and it came out great. Try to use a thinner plastic bag on the smaller model with more crinkles, just for a smaller scale texture. Cheers for checking the video out. :-)
Yeah it was a bit of a wreck when i opened it up. Came together ok though, and the surface issues stopped me from obsessing over the details too much, which was a nice change. I just need to make a nice "Hippy Data" and im on it LOL.
Hi Stefan. Thanks man. It was a tricky effect to try and replicate. I dont think its the way they actually did it, but its quite close. Totally fun though :-)
I have the 5 foot shooting model that Will Smith shoots down. I got it from a defunct company called Icons back in the 90's. They gave it to me with a mothership as they owed me for a bunch of computers. The colors are a bit different than what you have but I like yours as well. The originals are more purple , bronze and blue.
Thats epic. A five footer would be just amazing to have. I also have the transport model from Icons, just waiting to get time to build it. I did check the colours and decided to go for a bit more of a sand/dust feel as in the sequence with Will chasing. I would love to see an image of the 5 footer if you ever get a chance. Thanks for checking out the video, and posting a comment, awesome stuff. :-)
Hi there. I just warmed the perspex up in warm water and formed it in my hands with a bout a 10mm droop on each side. Once it cooled down it was almost perfect. So easy it was silly. I thought it would have been far more troublesome. Thanks for watching Robert.
@@APmodels Cheers Andy. Mine will be coming in about a week or so. By the way, what background music is that beat music. I tried shazam to recognise it.
@@050572robert I make the music for all my videos, so i don't think Shazam will know it. Ive had a few people asking about the tunes. Maybe ill do a music montage of the last few years. Good luck with your build, its a great sized piece. :-)
@@APmodels wow man! i love it, thats great music!!! I just play your vids for the music now when fiddling with my kit. BTW, you got your middle claw detail on the front upside down, just in case you want to correct it lol
@@050572robert Im glad you like the tunes, im no musician thats for sure. And thanks for the tip on the "Teeth" I will definitely get those the right way. I cant stop seeing it now you mentioned it :-)
Awesome Spacecraft and paintjob. now the alien ship needs a crew! The lighting turns out wonderful.

Thanks man. If i had seen the original i would have touched it as well. Sometimes you need to feel the deal 🙂. Cheers for checking the video out.
I've done sponge weathering and texturing on smaller scale models but the scale of using a scrunched plastic bag is hilarious. Great result!

masterfull work!
Love what you did. I am going to do this with my Lindberg version and see what I get. Thank you,

Hi Andy - great video, awesome finish!!! Say I saw an SPV on your bench, can you do an SPV video-build video? Thanks SIG 🙂
AHH yes, the old SPV. It is definitely having a video, no to in depth but more of a show off vid LOL. Thanks for checking it out Darren.
@@APmodels Hi Please can you post some pictures? Thanks 🙂
Wonderful, and beautiful realization of your art. Bravo.
Thank you joel. It came out nice for a quick build. Thanks for checking it out. 🙂
I remember watching you open the box & trying to make it all fit, killer job......Now waiting on the ''do you want to see them'' diorama.

Bloody brilliant solutions for the access hatch and man that Paintjob is genius. Cool idea with the Plasticbag. I´m such a fan of your work.

Well you rescued that kit for sure. Are you aware every knock, slap, thump on your workbench is translated into a shake on the camera?
Thanks for checking it out. Yes sir, I am aware, just keep forgetting to move the camera. I'll get it one of these days. :-)
niiiceeee
Did you have to bend of form the Perspex window to shape or is it flat?
