A good rendition of the story! A very accurate one, because this is usually exaggerated quite a lot. I mean its hugely impressive anyway so I dont see the point of not telling it accurately. Shame he wasnt a fan of Monty though. I suppose that's one of those subjective things that people will always argue about. Personally I love Montgomery. He worked hard to keep the men under his command safe. People always bring up Market Garden because they've seen the movie and think they know the history, when he wasnt even in command of the thing.
I honestly believe the part about Monty has been made up. There’s no evidence to suggest he said that. And there isn’t much reason for him to hate him.
On Wikipedia a Dutch historian points out that there’s no evidence to suggest he was even going to receive a medal let alone turn one down. Another story is that he was late to the ceremony so wasn’t able to be given the medal by Monty.
@@commando4481 interesting..you could well be right. Thank you! I was under the impression that most Brits and Canadians liked or loved Monty because he generally was popular with the men under his command. I had assumed Major hated Monty for being too 'cautious' in that respect, but as you say its entirely possible its made up too. This story is often exaggerated.
@@AtheAetheling I’m also a huge fan of Monty. My favourite general of WW2 is Slim but Monty is a close second. Monty was given a difficult job yet he always succeeded. Monty often had to fight the enemy in places where it was difficult to flank around such as Normandy or Italy and then there was the deserts of North Africa which was a logistical nightmare. And unlike the Americans and soviets who had literally unlimited men. Monty did not have that luxury since the British empire was fighting all over the world. Finally in terms of market garden it might not have been so bad had the American 82nd Airborne captured Nijmegen bridge in time then the Paras at Arnhem most probably could’ve been saved. But as per usual the blame is thrown at Monty when for Market garden in my opinion the blame lies with General Gavin of the 82nd.
@@commando4481 preach. When I was little I used to enjoy 'a Bridge too far' and I still respect some of it for certain things...but unquestionably it scapegoats Monty and coddles the 82nd, and has a number of other movie sins that make people who view it think they know what really happened. @@deweshgoenka6111 Patton's supplies were diverted to other Allied generals, to help them keep up. Allied high command didn't want any one general taking all the glory. That's to say, they were focused on politicking while fighting the war. Patton's inclination to aggressive & risky action still had him surging ahead of the pack.
It's the little details made me love this channel. like how these soliders hold the Sten.
This dude is literally a one man army
Yarnhub always coming out with banger animations, massively underrated
The animation has become amazing! Keep up with the great work!
Its nice to see someone who knows what they're talking about! : )
This actually understates this guy he also captured 100 enemy soldiers himself no bs straight up captures the battalion himself
Where the hell has hans got dancing lessons
1:51
hans got some nice moves 1:49 another dancing one at 5:38
He was awarded the distinguished conduct medal twice in WW2 the first time he declined it because Bernard Montgomery would have been the one to give it to him but he declined saying he was a blow hard then the second one he accepted he got a 3rd one in the Korean War for holding the line on a valuable hill position against waves of Chinese soldiers
This was a speed run for Léo Major
Really appreciate and really good work
Who wants to see yarn hub make a video about the tiger tank that destroyed about 9 T-34 tanks!
Nah i would love too but yarnhub is exclusively making vids of allied winning storys, since the broad public still believes that all germans where nazi and all such things.
@@emil-1609 Have you seen December 20th?

I always look forward to Yarnhub videos ! One the best things on You Tube !! 😁👍🏽
YEAH NEW UPLOAD, btw low chance Yarnhub sees this, you are my new favorite history TH-cam Channel, the narration and animation oddly compliment each other like chicken and waffles

No one:
Yarnhub: the drunk soldier named jar jar Binks
i was looking for this comment, just in case if someone beat me to it.
Anyone else amazed by the level of detail in their movement? Like the wine bottle, the bike tire, the swagger in his walk, and basically everything else.
Also this guy's not only a badass, he's a gentleman. Returning the officer's sidearm, letting go of his capetive.
its so cool that there a yarn hub ep in mine hometown :D
Dam the animation is getting really good. Keep up the good work yarnhub.
