Bro this was a good clear instruction thank you. So many people add too much fluff to their vids when someone like me just wants to know what they need to get back on the road asap. 👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome breakdown! Just so people understand who are in between these two options, the adjustability difference cannot be over stated. It’s the difference between having to swap the oil weight, volume, cut new spacer length, remove and adjust gold valve emulators (if you have those). And then Gsxr forks: just turning a few adjuster knobs. I will be using a rebuilt set of oem forks for the track this year, but I’m sure I’ll switch to the Gsxr forks when I can, for that ease of adjustability and brake upgrade.
Thanks for the content. I recently picked up an SV1000. Did a fork rebuild and service, while working on it I figured out that both fork legs are bent. So I am looking to put GSXR front forks from a 2006 GSXR 600 / 750. What other GSXR parts will I need to complete the swap?
Thank you! The swap on the N models is just as straight forward as it is on the S models. However, if you want to retain the tall handlebar style. You will need to modify the GSXR upper triple or source a custom upper triple that accepts that style of handlebars.
@@PASSIONBUILT awesome thank you, do you know of the stock clocks will still fit? And do you happen to k ow of any places that sell custom triples? Again thanks in advance for all the help, it's greatly appreciated
With the N model you will need to find the special upper triple specifically made for this conversion for your cluster to bolt on directly. I’ve only parted out one bike with it and the whole conversion set sold very quickly. I’m not sure where the original owner got the triple from. Other than that, the N model owners usually make a custom bracket to adapt the cluster to the triple. I hope this helps!
Cool guide! I'm actually looking for parts myself to do the swap. Can the SV 650 rotors be reused? Afaik, they are 300 mm which would technically fit k4-k5 calipers, not sure if they would match with a GSXR or SV1k wheel though.
Hey there. The SV rotors will not work with this swap. If you’re interested in the parts from this conversion, this exact set will be available on my website next week. www.motopartssource.com
Have you (or anyone reading this) ever done a front end swap of a 2003+ GSXR onto an older GS from the 80's? I'd love to add modern forks/breaks to my '80 GS750 Cafe build, but haven't been able to find anyone who's done it yet.
No problem. Honestly, that is something I don’t entirely know. I’ve never put the 2 side by side to compare. That’s a great question that I’m going to have to do some research on 😅
This is a great question. Yes, there are minor changes to the rake and trail after you do this suspension swap. It’s nothing that impedes the bike’s handling in a negative way. This suspension setup was removed off of my other SV that I just parted out and that bike handled wonderfully.
@@PASSIONBUILT Thanks for letting me know man! I heard someone mention it may be problem if you fitted certain rear shocks off sport bikes that may raise the tail significantly.
@@PASSIONBUILT Nice! I almost went with one of those but found a have an 06/07 ZX10R just down the street so went with that. Been sitting in my garage for far too long. Need to get it mounted up this year lol.
I’m not entirely sure since I’ve never had my hands on a Gen 3 SV. The motors across the board are pretty much the same with some minor changes throughout the years. For example. A Gen 1 engine will fit a Gen 2 bike and vice versa but you will need to swap your stator, flywheel, intake manifolds, and something else I’m probably forgetting. Gen 3 shouldn’t be too far off.
I have been considering picking one up. But Gen 2 is honestly my favorite. Maybe one day I’ll have one of each generation 😄 I’d like a naked Gen 1 and a white Gen 3. The Gen 3 in white just looks so good!
The GSXR master cylinder that the front end was removed from. However, you can use an SV650 or SV1000 master cylinder. If you do plan on using a GSXR master, make sure that you use one that isn’t on the recall list. There is an ongoing recall on certain year GSXR master cylinders that lock up randomly and have caused multiple accidents. Hope this helps 😃👍🏼

still want to get the gix forks valved and sprung for you

Upper and lower triples, wheel, fender. Basically the complete front to do a straight swap.
Great video
Thanks!
Great guide but do you know what year gsxr speed sensor is required and do i need to extend the wiring?
you forgot the godmode option: ak20 or twf racing cartridges in stock legs :P
Have you ever done the front end conversations with 2007 gsxr 1000 forks? Thanks for making great SV650 content!
I haven’t but I’m sure there is a write up on that on the SV Riders forum.
they sell round magnets. and if you have a different style gix wheel (like 9 hole or whatever) you just epoxy the magnets to the rotor
Awesome! Thanks for the input, Sergei.
With the addition of the emulators and drilling out and welding of the breather hole, how much fork oil and weight is recommended?
I honestly do not know off the top of my head. There are plenty of write ups on this on the SV rider forum.
I've done two GSXR conversions on my sv's. Not hard at all and the difference is night and day!
It is a very nice upgrade! 😎
Hi what year gsxr speedo sensor do you use or what aftermarket one
Hey can you use a 07 gsxr front end on a second gen sv?
Great video! Looking at doing the swap myself but I've got a naked sv, how much of a difference will there be in parts? Thanks in advance!
Thank you! The swap on the N models is just as straight forward as it is on the S models. However, if you want to retain the tall handlebar style. You will need to modify the GSXR upper triple or source a custom upper triple that accepts that style of handlebars.

Should u use a sv front fairing or a gsxr front fairing?

@PASSIONBUILT CAN YOU DO THE CONVERSION WITH A 2007 GSXR FRONT END ? ON A 2NG GEN SV650
Yes. There is a whole write up on the SV Riders forum telling you what needs to be done

I’ve never done a conversion like that. I’m sure it’s possible.
Look at the company Cognito Moto, I used to machine custom triples and head stem them to put a set of 2013 GSXR 1000 forks on a 1975 Ducati
Thank you for this, I'm swapping complete 04 front end over to 09 sv. Are the head bearing compatible to sv?
No problem. Honestly, that is something I don’t entirely know. I’ve never put the 2 side by side to compare. That’s a great question that I’m going to have to do some research on 😅
I have a 99 . Can a 07 gzxr 1000 front work! And what else would I need.
There are tons of write ups for this conversion on the SV Riders forum. Good luck with your conversion!
Any difference in handling issues that may have arisen from changes to rake and trail?

@@PASSIONBUILT Thanks for letting me know man! I heard someone mention it may be problem if you fitted certain rear shocks off sport bikes that may raise the tail significantly.
This bike had the Kawasaki ZX14R rear shock. No issues at all 🙂👍🏼

Do you know if this information is applicable to a Suzuki Gladius? There's hardly any information about fork swaps for a Gladius (SFV650).
Yeah. Swap for the Gladius is pretty much the same.
Question!!??!?!?!? can a SV650 Gen 3 motor, fit into a Gen 2? Is it a plug and play or are there different mounts due to the different frame??
I’m not entirely sure since I’ve never had my hands on a Gen 3 SV. The motors across the board are pretty much the same with some minor changes throughout the years. For example. Can this be done on the year 01 sv650s ?
Yes
Can this be not applicable for 3rd gen SV650?
There’s not much info about this conversion for the Gen 3 online yet but it’s definitely possible.
@PASSIONBUILT thank you! I'm thinking about the same too. But I still doubt it.😅
Thumbs up, liked, subbed, +1
Can I put a 2015 gsxr froks in a 09sv ?
Maybe 🤷🏻♂️ I’ve never attempted that conversion. You would definitely need a full front end though.
Do you know anything about the gen 3 swap?
To my understanding. Same parts required.
Can i use it for gsx r150? Will it affect the handling and turning radius? Thank you
GSXR150?
@@PASSIONBUILT yes, its a competitor to r15 and mt15...stock forks is the normal side up forks.
@@hassanjamal4212 Thats tiny af 😂 never heard of that
thank youuuuuuu
No problem at all. Thanks for watching, Kyle! 😎
would be nice if you also have a gen 3 sv 😊😊
I have been considering picking one up. But Gen 2 is honestly my favorite. Maybe one day I’ll have one of each generation 😄 I’d like a naked Gen 1 and a white Gen 3. The Gen 3 in white just looks so good!
the sv650x white is a better option imo the mirror like finish is just perfect
I need to see both options side by side. 😃
Which master cylinder did you use?
The GSXR master cylinder that the front end was removed from. However, you can use an SV650 or SV1000 master cylinder. If you do plan on using a GSXR master, make sure that you use one that isn’t on the recall list. There is an ongoing recall on certain year GSXR master cylinders that lock up randomly and have caused multiple accidents. Hope this helps 😃👍🏼
so what year brakes from a r6 are compatible?
I honestly don’t know off the top of my head. There’s a whole write up for it on the SV Riders forum.
👍
🤘🏼
I don't like that I need to change the front wheel aswell.
It’s just part of the swap. I’m not sure if someone makes an adapter for your OEM wheel.
