About a week ago i stopped two great pyranese from attacking the little neighbor boy. They had him on the ground and were mauling him.

the owners of this dog know exactly what it does (harrising thru traffic) my guess would be your not the first motorcycle rider that has faced this attack..I ride alot of back roads myself (remote dirt) I keep my firearm within easy reach at all times..agreed pepper spray might have stopped the aggression..I like you would hate to shoot a dog..avoid it if at all possible..I would file a complaint with the local sheriff..these dog owners need a warning.. the next riders thru might not be so tolerant. Being attack by a dog is legal grounds for the use of deadly force..I am sure the owners of this dog love him very much..why jeopardize his life by allowing this behavior..dog owners wake up.. the liabily you face is extreme if he bites or causes an accident..YOU ARE LIABLE.. thanks POG..you raise an important issue for all riders

It was a dog day afternoon on the trail......he was barking up the wrong bike....his bark was worse than his bite....that bike in first gear was working like a dog......all right, enough of the dog sayings...great thing to carry is a bit of spray....even something citrus is enough to deter them. Great video. Garth

I really enjoyed the video. I sent another video to some of the other people I ride with who typically are street riders and I have been encouraging them to wear better footwear. I sent this one also to further prove the point. I have been bitten more than a few times. Not sure why. A German Shepard pulled me off my ct70 when I was 10. I laughed at your stress level. I’m do know it can be serious though. I would say leave the foot on the peg so you can shift and go on, and don’t give him a handle that is your leg.
Can’t wait to see you again.

Shit bird is right. What's up with killer Great Pyrenees lately? That one followed you for a bit. I had on middle of December while riding my XR650L run out at me from the side while doing about 15 mph. At first, I thought he was going to run into my leg, so I swerved, then he ran in front of me where I thought was about to hit him and flip the bike. Luckily he moved off the side and I was able to gun it and get down the road and he stopped chasing and barking at me.

    Dude...
That dog was the friendliest you could meet. I'm guessing you're a cat person.

Looks like a Great Pyrenees. An infamous working dog that protect cattle or livestock. Not sure if there’s livestock nearby there. Big guy is doing his job well, but yeah…I’d definitely carry some pepper spray next time. Usually not attackers, but deterrents. If you meet them with aggression or shout at them, they might attack. Country living lol.

Hi. Easy to criticise with hindsight, I know, but I think in this kind of situation you need to claim your space and status with a calm, patient and assertive intention like Cesar Millan demonstrates in all his videos and only think about moving away once that has been understood by the dog. I think you are only going to achieve that shift in the dog's mind from fight-or-flight to ok-I-don't-need-to-be-in-charge-here by dismounting and leaving the bike out of the picture at first while standing your ground patiently with no talk, no touch and no eye contact. Once energy has been re-directed and you sense a back off from the dog, you might also be advised to push the bike away from the scene without engine, continuing to make sure the dog is no longer fixated on you before starting the engine and making off..luckily both your padded gear and the relatively light bike would make this approach entirely feasible. Maybe try that next time?

Yup, Great Pyrenees doing his job.
Yeah, he should't go after people but he kept looking back to his home looking for his owners to acknowledge him.
When you revved he jumped at you barking in response.
I think I would have tried shutting down the motor and just talking in a calm voice, you might have gotten to rub his ears.
I honestly don't think he was aggressively trying to bite you, he could have taken you off the bike if he'd seriously wanted to.
Perhaps you can online research that property and contact the owners?
Wouldn't hurt to make friends seeing as how you ride the area regularly.
None the less, I'm attaching a pepper spray to my tank bag, just in case.....
