Doc, Thanks for this video. This month, the FDA cleared the first CGM that does not need a prescription. I'm hoping more get approved for over-the-counter and the prices come down so that more people can afford them.
I didn’t realize that through fasting you just go through the glucose in your liver and not in your muscles. It takes exercise to get the glucose out of the muscle cells. Thank you for all you teach us Dr. Boz!
Not on today's topic, but after listening to your video on HRT, I did my research and just started. I'm 1 month in and it's not perfect but I'm starting to feel human again! Thank You, Thank You! I find so much value in your videos! Keep up the great work!

Recently used a CGM for 2 weeks. I was so surprised how high my glucose went up whenever I moved, even getting up at night or rolling over in bed. Second week, I was on a flight. I saw the highest numbers (I wasn’t nervous, but I did eat the airplane snacks ~35 g carbs, with coffee and water) - got numbers above 180. The first week my glucose was below 100 at night. The second week at high altitude in Colorado, I don’t think the glucose numbers ever went below 100. I was skiing in the high altitude city of Steamboat, Co. I’m wondering if either the CGM malfunctions at high altitude, or if my glucose really spikes at high altitude (less oxygen, all movement seems to take more effort - especially walking)??? My week 2 average was higher than my week 1 glucose average (106 vs 112).
I added too much MCT oil to my coffee the other day and got really bad stomach cramps and had to lay down. I was surprised to see my CGM went up 32 points during this episode. I was about 16 hours into my fast at the time.
I wonder if the 12 mn spike in glucose is related to a higher than normal midnight cortisol? Cortisol can spike at all sorts of weird times . I don't think that everyone is the textbook same when it comes to cortisol.
Blood Glucose is not really a good marker for insulin. For example you can eat (300) carbs at (1) sitting. If injected with insulin your blood glucose will be normal. If your pancreas dumps enough insulin it will conceal high blood sugar. Probably the most important thing we can find out is our bodies insulin production. This is done with a C-Peptide test ( blood drawn). Often healthy “ influencers “ in the health spaces will have an elevated C-Peptide / insulin. I watched an influencer video on a Chanel where she was presenting her husband’s blood work with a physician explaining it. The couple exercise a lot. Eat a keto like diet with carbs of some amount daily. His C-Peotide was (5). The lab reported normal as 2-5. Normal is not what we assume it means. It means on a bell curve most patients are 2-5. The other half are below 2 and above 5. Clinically a healthy non insulin resistant person is between 0.5 and 2. Some sources say 1.8 is the cut off. Get yours checked.
Blood sugar makes a decent marker because we can easily measure it. I agree that it is not a perfect marker though. If you are metabolically healthy then your blood sugar will return to normal fairly quick after eating. If you are not metabolically healthy then your insulin is high. The best way to lower it is by dropping your blood glucose. I'm pretty sure I know which video you are referring to. There is no reason to think that he hasn't always been metabolically healthy. His liver enzymes were elevated which could be from all of the fruit he eats. If people have a healthy hA1c then they should get their fasting insulin checked. If their hA1c is high then their insulin is high or they are a type 1.
Hot tub heat stress is highly altered by chemical stress/damage. Hot water without soaking in chemicals is good, chlorine and bromine, highly absorbed through the skin, is very bad. Major effect on liver and hormones of all kinds.

⁉️ As a cycling female should I be eating higher carb non-starchy veggies, brown rice, and berries a week before my period to build progesterone? and building estrogens a few days prior to ovulation too? So confusing not sure what I am to do?
Not a doctor, but increasing fat seems like it would increase estrogen and progesterone. They are all built from cholesterol, not starches and sugars. I know for men, when they increase fat, testosterone (the precursor to estrogen) levels rise.
I'm pretty sure it's a couple days before and during your period. Also why rice? I would do starchy vegetables instead. Rice sky rockets my sugars though

Won’t low blood sugar trigger a cortisol response? I thought this might be what was waking me at night. I got a CGM and sure enough, I was experiencing lows in upper 40’s to low 50’s and waking up. My sleep got much better after I started eating an ounce of plain yogurt later in the evening (I had previously avoided eating after 4-5 PM). My blood glucose was otherwise pretty stable. SO beautiful--hard to concentrate watching Dr. Boz. :-)
The last three times my husband wore a cgm they stopped working after 2 or 3 days. I suspect they were reading low even on the days they were working. Has anyone else experienced this?
No, but I have used the + feature to add a reading from my finger stick meter as a calibration.
It must happen occasionally, my pharmacist told me to keep the package in case the monitor failed. No refund without the box it came in
I have had that happen when not well hydrated
Any advise for older women >60. I've been fasting for months and my BS is still high in the morning. I can't lose any weight. I do most days OMAD What can I do to fix it? Thanks!
Are you doing keto? If you still eating high carbs then that’s your problem.
@@dontfit6380 no, I don't eat carbs, very little under 50 g.
Dr Boz did a video addressing this, she suggested changing the eating window so you are feeding during that morning elevated glucose. Cortisol spike in the morning telling your body to get moving elevating glucose
OMAD, according to Dr Fung and I believe, Dr Boz, is not good protocol, especially for women to lose weight. You need to eat 2MAD (two meals a day). Otherwise you're teaching your body to eat less and slow your metabolism. Do some research or ask Dr Boz....
I feel that to be crazy
I’ve had insomnia my whole life and I just found protein before bed is the only thing that helps my sleep . Idk why this is . Without protein I’m getting 3-4 hours sleep with added protein about 6 hours. I really want to get back to fasting but don’t want insomnia
My endochrnologist said,"Its ok to lower your carbs a little, but DONT DRINK KETO!" That did it fir me. The oy way I have every managed my glucose is low carb-keto. What's with the carb oish from my and Nutritionist. It doesnt sinc with my experience.
100lbs off iver several years. Still 70lbs overweight but if I keep my carns very low my a1c goes down. Went from 14 to 6. After a month in the hospital I had gained 30lbs and was back on insulin.
Are thry trying to kill me?
My question is doesn't the CGM steam-sweat off your arm in the sauna? Anybody who has experience with that??
Ah she answered that! She said no it doesn't mess with the CGM.
Is she really achieving those low ketone and glucose readings or just taking her ketone products and fasting short term before taking the readings live?
She’s the real deal! She’s honest about what she’s done before every show.
Muscles store 500 to 1000mg of glucose as glycogen depends on how muscular you are. The liver weighs about 3 lbs can store only 100g glucose. The ratio is way off!
for those of you catching up for the first time ...Where have you been? Annette is the best!!
too much guesswork

Chinese food is the worst. Mine wouldn’t be normal for a day I bet
