  • Siblings not getting along are one of the most common problems that parents and caregivers share with me. With loving and respectful touch, this strategy helps the family improve communication and generate empathy.

I have used this a few times with a few different variations and it went very well. Thank you!

Thank you for this! What if one of the member says they do not want to participate?

This is a really great question. I might do a couple of things: 1. See if they want to “play” the therapist role. Maybe they can whisper or write for the caregiver what shape to draw or they can guide some gentle massage for the other family members who are participating. 2. You can try a different strategy- not everyone connects with every strategy so having alternatives in mind is useful 😊

I tried this after watching Mayleen’s video and had a child who didn’t want to participate. I invited them to watch their family members, and “supervise” if they chose. I also offered for them to “invite” their stuffed animals to play instead, which helped increase their comfort level to participate a little later.

The eyes on the stuffed animal are horrible looking, nightmares are made from those eyes. Just saying. Other than that good job.
