Jaishankar is very realistic in his assessment of the ground situation, nation’s capabilities, the role of the highest political leadership in the way India can play its role in world affairs. I like it how he doesn’t ask any real hard questions about how India deals with criticisms from foreign countries? Like every time there is any criticism of the government of India from foreign entities they always state the phase “it’s a India domestic issue foreign countries have no right to mettle with India’s sovereignty “. Then how come India gets involved in issues with other countries Modi tweeting about the Capitol Hill Riots in America, Modi response to the military coup in Myanmar aren’t these Myanmar and American issues why is India concerned about these foreign countries.

All democracies including India have responded to it cuz such incidents inspire people living in democratic countries to do the same whenever they are in disagreement with the govt. to cause chaos. There was a uniform response from leaders of all democracies to such incidents.
Now talking about taking criticism, I guess we have been criticised way too many times that it has become a habit and a inspired hidden agenda to just criticise India even when they have the least idea about the issue. And when did we lash out at criticism, we just pointed out their hypocrisy cuz thats true and the western world deliberately tries to stay silent about it. And above that other than the two incidents you mentioned when did we ever comment about issues that were domestic to other countries. But the western countries throug their NGOs and their Media so very regularly try to comment on our issues with their biased perspective and agenda and try to label India every now and then.
To Labelling PM Modi as Divider in chief, comparing him to Hitler, saying things like our democracy is in danger when its really not and its nowhere affecting their democracy or politics, trying to label RSS as an terrorist organisation and the root cause for all the conflicts that arise between Hindus and Muslims in India, constantly showing maps of India in which Jammu, Kashmir and Ladhak region are not shown as part of India as whole(atleast show the internationally accepted map of India), biased reports on 2002 incidents, Ayodhya Ram Mandir issue, Article 370, triple talaq etc. Why are they so anti govt and anti modi in everything.
Most of the cases where there can be conflicting viewpoints, these so called foreign media houses, NGO's, make reports and articles talking solely about one side in such a way that they create a certain narrative and make you to believe certain halftruths.
And thats why if you think people lash out on criticism, it is because of this. Biased reportings, fake news, lies, agenda driven reporting to create narratives, based on half-truths.
I truely believe we should learn how to take criticism but cant agree on basis of your context ( if I assume).

He was superceded for the position of foreign secretary by Manmohan Singh and would have retired without becoming a foreign secretary if Modi had not come to power in 2014. He prematurely retired Sujata Singh and allowed him to become foreign secretary and gave him extension. Then of course after Sushmaji passed away he was further promoted. So not only credit to Modi for finding him but also shows poor judgment of Manmohan to sideline and bypass him.
