It’s a disgrace the lack of education we are given. A Fb group told me about pelvic floor therapy. Hospital sent me home with painkillers after my hysterectomy and zero Info. Same as gyno. Everyone’s too busy and don’t tell you anything just “here take these pills”

I agree Mini...and it's not only male GP's that are guilty of doing this.

I found out why ... because women are classified as Smaller Men! Its insane. We are considered no longer useful to men so why bother. It truly is disgusting how thos world operates.

I learned about menopause after I started going thru it. I used soap, vag washes etc thru the yrs... A gyn doc who was a naturalist told me stop using these things. I stopped having UTI's.

I am 46 years old. I am now in the perimenopause stage. I believe that you have hit the nail on the head. I would just like to share a drink my doctor recommended to me when I had recurring bladder infections.
I found that drinking lots of white cranberry juice helps to flush out and create a balance in the bladder. I also take probiotics supplements.

I have had this on and off in the past several months. Very embarrassing, but comforting to know many women experience this. Mine is feeling the urge to go but I'm in the middle of something. So I wait. Then the urge passes. Then suddenly I am trying to run to the bathroom. It's like it comes on suddenly after I have waited from earlier. I'm learning from you, don't wait. Go when you need to. When I experience the bit of irritation, I tend to lean on unsweetened cranberry juice. About 1/4c in my full glass of water usually does the trick. I also drink that once a week, just for posterity.

Eileen! You are looking lovely; hope you are feeling well also! Thank you so much again for explaining all of this so well. I haven‘t commented for awhile, but this is my BIG ISSUE. I have been noticing the bladder and bowels are very much connected in this. I find sometimes my bladder pain is less after having a bowel movement. For me though, it is not constipation, but rather somewhat looser stools. Something I find works very well for me is something called Femiflora Plus by Sanatura. It comes in powder form, one packet a day. (I buy it online here in Germany, not cheap, but absolutely worth it). It has special milk cultures and probiotics, as well as birch leaf and cranberry extract. Vitamin B complex as well. It is almost the only thing which gives me relief. Also, as you‘ve said over and over: a LOT of water. One thing I didn‘t realise though which you mentioned can make a huge difference is the strengthening of the pelvic muscles with exercises or Pilates. This is something I haven‘t tried since beginning peri-menopause. The daily Nordic Walking is helpful, but not enough I guess. Thanks again for all tips!

      Hi Karen
Thank you for your lovely comment, I am keeping well, hope you are too!
Good to hear that you have found a remedy that is helping you; these things are worth the cost if they work well!
Getting a training session with a Pilates instructor, who specialises in women's health to show you how to do the pelvic floor exercises is worth looking into as this can be really effective so worth looking into at some point.

@@AvogelCoUk yes, I'll have to look into it, pilates for this specific purpose. I am almost at the point of thinking about trying hormone replacement therapy (meaning pills) because sometimes, and always unpredictably, I have a lot of discomfort. Last night I lost count how many times I got up to pee, always with extreme discomfort. I am very reluctant to take medication (as I've mentioned here, I take a vaginal suppository 2x week, and still have these pains). But maybe it could be the right thing...

      Hi Usha
Unfortunately, this is a really difficult question to answer as it is different for every woman. Some will go through the menopause and feel wonderful afterwards, both health-wise and emotionally, whereas others may struggle with symptoms for a long time and never completely feel good.
This is why it is so important to look after yourself well and take good care of yourself as this can often help speed up the transition and get you out feeling well.

      Hi
Bladder irritation is quite a common symptom and many women can experience this at some point. There are some things that you can do to help yourself as I mention in the vlog such as drinking at least 1.5 litres of plain water (other liquids don't count), taking a vaginal probiotic and you can add in a supplement called Sea Buckthorn Oil. It is difficult to say how long this may last as it is different for everyone, sorry, however, following the protocols as above can often speed up the process

Brilliant informative video, I thought it was just me. Everytime I have a hot flash i need to rush to the toilet. I cant empty bladder properly at times and need to go again minutes later. I try and spend as much time waiting for that extra bit to come out but sometimes it just doesnt happen.
Can a prolapse happen? If so pelvic floor exercise will render useless?

pelvic floor exercises and pilates can be very helpful. Prolapse is possible and women's health physio can be really helpful!

      Hi Garima
The falling hormones in the menopause can make you more prone to bladder infections such as cystitis so they can be connected. Hopefully, the tips in this video will be of help for you.

This is just too much. I already have other health issues now I’m going through this. Will it subside? Trying to find out from anyone?

I'm afraid that this is a really difficult question to answer as it is different for every woman, sorry. Some women do find it eases after a short while whereas others may find that it continues for a long time. However, this is one of the menopause symptoms that can be sorted so it is worth treating as quickly as possible.

      Hi Sharon
Some people do find that too many supplements can irritate the bladder or bowel. Maybe have the odd day break to see if that helps

I know cranberry juice & cranberry pills are often recommended, but is it acidic and irritate the bladder?
What about tea? Is it acidic as well?

    • @AvogelCoUk
      @AvogelCoUk  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Black Tea is acidic so best avoided or taken very weak Cranberry jiuce is usually quite soothing but you need to make sure that there is no sugar in it and it is best taken 50/50 with water.
