I agree with some parts...for example they are shy and not confident and afraid of making mistakes. But I don’t agree with “ they can speak it but they just don’t”
To be fair, I agree with you, but I can see where she's coming from. My impression is that she's referring to her students (she's an English teacher). The way I see it is Thai students will NOT speak English with Thai teachers, but they will speak to foreign teachers (to some extent). I've been making fun of in the past too, but I'm not a shy-type, so that makes me where I am.
I've met many Thai's that learned English in University and just didn't use it ever use it again. Eventually it just becomes something they forget. I think it's too bad, because most information that you could learn on the internet is in English. Just look at Wikipedia. Trying to learn about the world using only Thai, is like trying to run with a broken leg.
I agree with you its their defense mechanism not to sound dumb just because they can't converse in english. Saying they know how to speak english but choose not to use it. That's a total lie!
Kitti - Another cutie!! And she has a job teaching English...even better! Keep up the good vids. Very informative and offers a glimpse into how regular Thais think.
I am always surprised at how Thais obsess over skin color or the tone of their skin. To Westerners, we see Thai people and never really consider the tone of their skin. Lighter, darker, matters not one bit. Very intelligent young lady and as ALWAYS, great interview, Kittichai! I only wish you could make more 🙏😁
We see it differently, but it's funny that she brought that "tap water" up. She probably heard it before the internet era. Talking about skin color is not a sensitive thing in Thailand, but I brought it up in other videos because I was annoyed to see the comments saying that "These people are not Thai, Thai people have dark skin". I just want to debunk those comments.
Beg to disagree. Western skin color does matter... Is it not Americans discriminate colored people? Colored... means any color not white.. brown included. Have you read "America is in the Heart by Carlos Bulosan? " There you will read... color of the skin matters.
Interesting perspective. I am kind of surprised at her reaction of BKK. I would have loved to hear her speak English since she is an English teacher. I do understand about Thai people being shy about speaking English but it is the same for us foreigners who are learning Thai. I am also an English teacher here. I get a little frustrated when I hear some Thai students say they don't want to come to class because they can't speak English well. That is the exact reason to come to class. But it is like she said, they are shy. I always try my best to make the students feel comfortable and I will speak Thai with them and sound a little silly too just to make them feel more comfortable. If any Thai person sees this please don't be shy to speak English if you can speak it. No English speaking person with a heart will ever laugh or make fun of you.
Have to say many strange comments on this one! For me it's very interesting to hear you interview different people unscripted so their thoughts and ideas come right out to us. It makes me understand Thais and the culture better which is the reason I'm watching your vlog. No need to judge people for what ever reason as so many do in the comments.
Thank You Kittichai. I aprreciate so much that you dont make any type of videos about vulgar themes , dont asks any types of uncomfortable questions to people. And of coarse this is another very informative video. Thank you!
What a wonderful, confident, intelligent and amusing friend you have Kittichai 😁 I could listen to her all day 😄. She had me laughing all the way through the interview. I hope we can see her again 😁. Thank you.
It's been over 2 months. It's time to Break Radio silence, little brother. We love your videos. We love you man. Please make another one. No pressure though haha
This video is brilliant, I can get to know more about thai people opinion, the questions is deep. Never see on the internet before. Please make more video like this.
@My Love I want to learn thai, its just too complicated with tones and all. Not everything you do has to put food on your table, sometimes you do things for fun also. Now imagine how many cute thai girls I can talk to if I knew Thai.
Great interview. What a sweet girl. Your vlogs are the best, very entertaining and they help me understand and relate to my Thai girlfriend so much better.
Too right Gavin! Kittichais videos provide a great insight into how Thai people think and feel about many things. And they also have me laughing a lot too!
I very much enjoyed this interview. I find it educational and culturally enlightening to hear the thoughts of others, especially those from another country. I am an American, but I have traveled to many places around the world. I've found great value in all cultures I have been fortunate enough to have visited, but I enjoy Thailand the most of all. It is my preferred place to vacation in all the world. Not only is the weather perfect year round in my opinion, I also love Thai food, which is not available (at least not in excellent quality) where I live. The fruits and vegetables that are grown in Thailand are so tasty! I also appreciate the kindness always shown to me by Thai people. I have been able to learn some Thai words and phrases, but I am very grateful Thai people are willing to speak English even if their grammar is not perfect. I agree with the young lady, Bangkok is too busy and rushed for me too. Yes, there is everything you could want as far as diverse culture, entertainment, food, shopping, and culture in Bangkok, but it is too busy with traffic and pollution just as most large cities are around the world. I prefer a smaller city or a resort town. The young lady answered all the questions very respectfully and has such a great attitude. Excellent interview. I'll subscribe to see more!
I think a video on this dark vs white skin thing would be fascinating with questions on why someone would be dark or light, any discrimination, would you consider someone darker/lighter as a partner.
It's a cultural thing among Asian people (not just Thai) Go back a couple hundred years ago, you can google picture of any Asian Royal family and you will notice that most of them (especially the woman) had white skin (but it was make up), so with a lot time, most Asian people started to perceive white skin as a sign that you were destined for great things (i.e wealthy, popular ETC)
My wife is from Issan and speaks very good English, she is not shy if she makes a mistake & her English is 95% better than my Thai (shamed to admit). But either way, if things are not understood there is no shame or shyness to speaking a foreign language, it's an education on both parts to make things easier. This is not just from my wife, but from locals too that can speak a little English and others we meet travelling around when I visit. Bangkok is a nightmare for Thai & farang, neither my wife or I like Bangkok for the same reasonns,, very busy with people & traffic, pollution is also poor. Thai people are nicer than you will ever know, just move away from the tourist areas to find out... the real Thailand is way better than being in a tourist hotspot.
What a very nice person. I feel the same as her, there is no place like Home, which is Oregon (and Japan). We love to visit Thailand, so many wonderful people and beautiful sights to see, and we love the food. We have Friends all over Thailand, including from Isaan, and we find all of them to be lovely. We will be on our 8th visit and spend 3 weeks in Tha Sala, 1 week in China, and 3 weeks in Tha Sala. Thank you again for this interesting series.

Our differences are always ideological, let's not complicate this any further. Besides, it's getting ridiculous, Isaan is growing, you'll be the urbanites you used to think lowly of. I don't really like people who double-think like her. She has negative opinions of urbanites but wanted to be polite about it. I don't care of urbanites or rurals, I just hate discrimination in general. And I know if I meet her on a chance encounter, she'll gloat on me anyways.
I feel the same way learning Thai. I'm afraid I'm not pronouncing or using the proper inflections on certain vowels, but I really want to visit Thailand some day. So, I keep learning and keep practicing every day. And it's the same way with Americans and Spanish. There are many who learn Spanish for the sake of being able to communicate with Central or South Americans, yet they choose to not speak it.
Honest interview. Unlike popular belief that isaan people are darker complexion. She is so fair and beautiful and also very honest in her opinions. Thanks !
Interesting thoughts, from my Thai friends I have here in the USA I know they speak English very good but every once in a while may not know a word but for the better part speak well, as for my friends online they say they don’t want to make mistakes. I laugh and tell them it’s the best teacher. As for the Bangkok I think like most big cities most work inside during the day so whiter than someone working outside
“ WATER IN BANGKOK “. What she doesnt know is that the water in every Country especially in metro or a city is Chlorinated ! Im now in Northern Thailand ! Im in a province theres no chlorine in their water thats why i have now a lot of pimples and im burn now 555. But i love it here the people are nice but shy !
Great interview, a lot of people are too embarrassed to try another language in public, not me if nothing else I will get a laugh out of the person I’m trying to talk to, also I found that if I’m willing to embarrass myself they may be more willing to do the same. The people in Bangkok I believe are lighter as a general rule because they don’t get as much sun, between the tall buildings, pollution, covered walkways and transportation, indoor jobs could all be reasons, if it has anything to do with the water it’s all that chlorine they put in it, it has burned my eyes taking a shower there. Thanks to your friend for sharing her thoughts with us. Keep up the good work.
Here in the philippines, people do speak english even though they have different accent and grammatically incorrect. No need to be shy about it. What's most important is you understand each other 😊
Hey mate, is it any chance that you could come back to making videos? Your videos are amazing. Much better and more informative than any videos made by Farang VLogers. Please come back 👍
In my school i have A grade english but i am just at writing and reading i can speaking english but it's not good because i've promblem with tongue even thai language i can't speak it well too
I agree on some point. Even if english is part of our education system since primary grade. Most Filipinos are afraid to use the language or maybe reluctant to do so because they are afraid that they might get rediculed if they made a mistake. This is also one of the challenges I have to face. There is no problem when it comes to vocabulary because we are familiar on most of the common english words. Finally inproved my self further by watching english shows reading books and using the language on my line of work.
WHAAA?!? But... In your country... English is SOOOO huge! I watched a cłíp of an everyday Fillipino women say that she uses English 80% *of the time.* Most of your nation's TV is also in English. *The native Tagalog language is in danger!*
It’s true in highly urbanized areas of the Philippines. Although English is integrated into our daily lives to the extent that our government works in English and that follows by our legal documents being written in English as well as our source of entertainment (movies, series, and the like) are mostly in English. But when we talk about using English to communicate in a casual conversation is very rare especially in rural areas. Yes, I would agree with Tagalog being endangered that is because of children now is more conversant to English than their native tongue. Not just tagalog is endangered even our local dialects are. We have 120 local dialects apart from tagalog (national language). So when you are born in the Philippines, you have to be able to speak at least 3 languages first is your local dialect, second would be Tagalog, lastly English. English being the last in our arsenal 😂
No need, you say? What about the fact that the language of global commerce is in fact, English. You seem to want to limit the scope of success for Thai people to the tourism industry. How very generous of you...
Well, truthly she speaks is true.We do speak English with the foreigner teachers or the tourists but we may do not talk or use in our life and yes there's have some people who can speak thai from thailand
I guess this is the same reason for every foreign language in any part of the world, for most people. I can relate to this, myself. I won't speak a local dialect in southern Italy, because I am afraid to make mistakes. Even though I speak fluent Italian. By the way, I'm from Ukraine.
@Thai Tastic - interesting way of putting it. I wonder if smug would effect the intensity of UV rays. I live in Perth Western Australia and a friend of the family whom is from Thailand thought that moving south of the city would help her skin become a little lighter because the sun is not as intense or harsh, maybe she thought that as its much cooler down there. Hmm 🤔 I hope that makes sense.
they now got tones of skin treatment. have you seen that Koy , Ton Body slam gf, they both running like a month or more from BKK to southern city i don't know which and then ran north to Chiangmai or Chiangrai , the total milage is like about 2000km or more. and look at her skin. it still pale white. haha incredible. and those on island and beach trip; posing among sea and sun but they never got tan unlike 10years ago.
. MAny thais not learn to speak english before, I think the younger thais learn now its more and more important, Because Thailand have more and more businesses with Western world, and some maybe go out from Thailand, then its good if they can speak english but its also true many are shy, sometimes they say they can not speak but if you presure them a little then they begin to speak, so nice thais have a nice way of speaking english Stay safe Rak Thais RAk Thailand samer
This young lady has a right to her opinions and air head I think not. She is thoughtful with her response and I for one enjoyed her talk and the way she looks at life.
@@cogniktive1147 she didnt in isan we actually call ourselves as lao people. Im from isan so i know its not racist. Why would we call ourselves as lao if we are racist? Logic?
How interesting, in each of your videos I hear the word white skin, Thai people like to see white skin, while the white people love the colored skin. People always want what we do not have ourselves.
Boris Obreza When they say white skin, they are referring more to the porcelain complexions of the Chinese and Koreans than to white people. Most of the rich Thais in Bangkok are light skinned due to their Chinese ancestry and poorer Thais want to emulate that look to appear rich.
She is very smart, and it is exactly as she said around the world as well. Problem is, a lot of foreigners in Thailand are from English speaking countries, who never ever learned any other language, so they dont understand, how hard it is. And yes, I had the same problem that I always feld judged. Very good way is to start with people who are on slightly better level than you (not fluent), and not switch to Thai or use translator even when you cant remember word. Better is to try explain missing word by different words. To all Thai people strugling with english: "If you know how to say Sawatdee + kapun + kotor krub in English, you are better than 85% of Americans! Think about this and be proud of yourself"
Try a friday evening game with people who wants to get better in English. All time speaks english and who say some word in Thai, have to dink a shot. It will teach you a lot! :D
I went to Thai so many places before,I found in Bangkok not everyone can Speak English even the young ppl ,last time I went to 7-11 ask for milk tea and the young staff don’t understand what I said ,and I ask a policeman and a taxi driver how to go to my hotel they aso don’t understand .but in Pattaya ,Phuket and Chiangmai their English are better and I found they aso can speak Chinese!
For non English speakers, don't be shy or feel sorry if you guys cannot speak or not that good in speaking English because that's not your native language and you have to feel sorry if you don't know how to speak your own native language. If other people were making fun of you guys, just ignore them and you don't care whatever they think of it as long as you are not doing anything wrong or bad. It doesn't matter if your English is correct or not, the important thing is we would understand what you mean to say. Ryan here from the Philippines 🇵🇭😊
Unlike from Cambodia next door, most people speak English, Chinese, Korean. From what I heard from people who visited Thailand, Thai people said that Thai language is the most beautiful language in the world.
Most Thais are naturally shy but most of all, their English was taught by Thai teachers, whose first language is almost always Thai. It would be nearly impossible for an average Thai to speak English without any discomfort, but I have noticed that most University students can write and read English fairly well.
their dental braces are preventing them from doing so.....ive been to Thailand twice but the scenery about braces never change.......everybody seems to be with their braces.....
How do Thais view farangs when we speak Thai but mispronounce the tonal change.. ( suwai) which can be beautiful or wish bad omens on someone. In english I understand anyone who trys to speak it and most Thais speak good. Its tough to learn a different language and express your views.
I learnt this many years ago from a friend with 40 years experience of teaching English in Thai schools and universities.....there are only 3 letters that the Thais have difficulty in pronouncing.....as opposed to a multiplicity of letter combinations that us farangs do....the easiest area to understand is in the north in my opinion as they speak slower thus giving us a chance to translate. This lady can talk too fast sometimes for me to translate.
Thai people should not feel english speaking people will judge them. When someone attempts to speak to me, I am patient, and no matter what impressed that they are trying, and if i can, i will be helpful as possible. Also this girl is very cute, even if she has some funny ideas.
Wow you really picked a opinionated lady this time. Being a frequent traveller to Thailand i don't agree with her idea that Thai people can speak english but choose not to
Malaysia is the most Asia country which is 100% Malaysian can speak an English. We speaking more than 2 languages with many different dialects we are proud with our cultures. It's ok if you can't speak or you won't speak English. Nothing lose, just be who you are. No one will making fun of you.
Lets have a look at just a few english words that would make a Thai person think twice about the language...two,to,too..there,their,they're..see,sea..moose,mousse..fare,fair..dam,damn...Im sure the Thai language and culture has a lot more to be appreciated than can be understood by non Thai person.
Almost all Thais know the English naming words, so you just got to teach them the joining words. Basic English is easy to learn but to be grammatically correct is hard. A lot of Thais, particularly males have no interest in learning it and actually resent using the language.
I agree with some parts...for example they are shy and not confident and afraid of making mistakes.

Hi Kittichai - looking forward to your next video.
She's adorable. Still not sure of her opinions though, she spoke in a very round about way. Thai women have always been an enigma for me.
Wow...... she is super cute and articulate. And possitive. A breath of fresh air from the western culture.
Please come back 👍
In my school i have A grade english but i am just at writing and reading i can speaking english but it's not good because i've promblem with tongue even thai language i can't speak it well too
Your videos are awesome bro. Hope to see some more soon. It's been one month and no videos!?!
The Thai Language Is Beautiful when spoken By Women. There is NO need to learn English ! Other than the basics for The Tourist areas.
No need, you say?
What about the fact that the language of global commerce is in fact, English.
You seem to want to limit the scope of success for Thai people to the tourism industry.
How very generous of you...
suey smart conversation , down to earth point of view ,, thanks for sharing that ..
Well, truthly she speaks is true.We do speak English with the foreigner teachers or the tourists but we may do not talk or use in our life and yes there's have some people who can speak thai from thailand
Loving the vids man keep them coming and well done for breaking through the 10k sub. milestone
This woman is adorable and articulate. I don’t get the negative comments.
Some of my friends speak this language I like to learn but it’s hard 😂 Beautiful 👌
I love the Thai girl accept ❤️❤️❤️. It’s so cute!
Same❤
You got a good mic. Great!
Where is our Thai mate hiding.😁 Miss your vids and hoping for more soon.
@Kittichai in Thailand why don't we see any new videos of you? Have you stopped your channel? I'd love to see more :-)
your friend is very beautiful... i'd marry her ,, not only because she's beautiful ,, she's very intelligent too
Man, we really miss you, little brother!! Please come back and make a video!
I guess this is the same reason for every foreign language in any part of the world, for most people. I can relate to this, myself. I won't speak a local dialect in southern Italy, because I am afraid to make mistakes. Even though I speak fluent Italian. By the way, I'm from Ukraine.
Less sun penetration in Bangkok because of the high rises and smog, so I expect Bangkokians are lighter skinned because of that?
BANGKOK is invaded by Issan who are not white skin !
Kru Ploppy white skin in Thailand are Thai mixed with Chinese...
@@mooban1000 That is certainly true as well and the fact more skin whitening products are also sold in Bangkok that the outer lying areas as well.
they now got tones of skin treatment. have you seen that Koy , Ton Body slam gf, they both running like a month or more from BKK to southern city i don't know which and then ran north to Chiangmai or Chiangrai , the total milage is like about 2000km or more. and look at her skin. it still pale white. haha incredible. and those on island and beach trip; posing among sea and sun but they never got tan unlike 10years ago.
The traffic in Bangkok is bastard. Most times Its quicker to walk than catch a taxi.
This woman has no problem communicating. 😀😀😀. Another good interview
She's really intelligent.
Omg please. Thai-English is probably the best thing and it’s so unique ! Even when they are angry but with Thai-English it doesn’t sound rude at all.
คนไทยไม่ได้สะกดเเบบอังกฤษ เขียนเเบบไทย ฟิลิปปินส์เป็นทั้งเมืองคืน เขียนเเบบอังกฤษ
One of my Brother In Laws only spoke Thai until he got drunk. Then, he was suddenly fluent in English. The problem? Shyness.
. MAny thais not learn to speak english before, I think the younger thais learn now its more and more important, Because Thailand have more and more businesses with Western world, and some maybe go out from Thailand, then its good if they can speak english but its also true many are shy, sometimes they say they can not speak but if you presure them a little then they begin to speak, so nice thais have a nice way of speaking english
Stay safe
Rak Thais RAk Thailand samer
This young lady has a right to her opinions and air head I think not. She is thoughtful with her response and I for one enjoyed her talk and the way she looks at life.
Daryle
Can you point out the time when she remarks about Lao people? I have a difficult time understanding her. Thanks
Daryle You must be an American , can’t get away from all things racist, please get over your self.
I would go with less sun in Bangkok rather than the urban myth of the tap water :)
Kittichai its time to break radio silence. Your fans await ;)
Knowing two languages is a plus👍
Unlike from Cambodia next door, most people speak English, Chinese, Korean. From what I heard from people who visited Thailand, Thai people said that Thai language is the most beautiful language in the world.
Hey Kittichai, why did you stop making videos?
Most Thais are naturally shy but most of all, their English was taught by Thai teachers, whose first language is almost always Thai.
It would be nearly impossible for an average Thai to speak English without any discomfort, but I have noticed that most University students can write and read English fairly well.
their dental braces are preventing them from doing so.....ive been to Thailand twice but the scenery about braces never change.......everybody seems to be with their braces.....
Is she speaking more isaan Thai or Bankok Thai?
Im not thai myself... but it feels bangkok thai
Can we have Thai subtitles if you don't mind 🙏
3:15 Laughter was the original international language before English
Ma-mak!
It's been a while. Hope you are ok?
How do Thais view farangs when we speak Thai but mispronounce the tonal change.. ( suwai) which can be beautiful or wish bad omens on someone. In english I understand anyone who trys to speak it and most Thais speak good. Its tough to learn a different language and express your views.
Good video!
She's beautiful
Kittichai, why have you stopped making videos? I'm sad we don't get new content from you anymore. Hope you are doing ok(^^)
Thai people should not feel english speaking people will judge them. When someone attempts to speak to me, I am patient, and no matter what impressed that they are trying, and if i can, i will be helpful as possible. Also this girl is very cute, even if she has some funny ideas.
Thai people are awesome
Make a video about whitening cream in Thailand and why they prefer white skin
Wow you really picked a opinionated lady this time. Being a frequent traveller to Thailand i don't agree with her idea that Thai people can speak english but choose not to
Malaysia is the most Asia country which is 100% Malaysian can speak an English. We speaking more than 2 languages with many different dialects we are proud with our cultures. It's ok if you can't speak or you won't speak English. Nothing lose, just be who you are. No one will making fun of you.
Where u live in Thailand?
Lets have a look at just a few english words that would make a Thai person think twice about the language...two,to,too..there,their,they're..see,sea..moose,mousse..fare,fair..dam,damn...Im sure the Thai language and culture has a lot more to be appreciated than can be understood by non Thai person.
Almost all Thais know the English naming words, so you just got to teach them the joining words. Basic English is easy to learn but to be grammatically correct is hard. A lot of Thais, particularly males have no interest in learning it and actually resent using the language.
When is your next video?
