Logically, believing that there's afterlife is beneficial than believing there's only nothingness. Think of it this way, as of now we don't really know what's life after death. Let's say you believe there's heaven and hell, 1st thing you would do is to work your way to heaven, after you die there's a 50/50 that you would go to heaven or hell base on your work here in the land of the living. But what if there's only nothingness and no heaven and hell? You just lose nothing. But if you don't believe that there's heaven or hell and it turns out that it really exist, then you would go to hell. But what if it just really nothingness? You just lose nothing but gain nothing. That's just my opinion. At the end of the day, we all live our lives by just believing.
