    As a young kid living in West Wildwood I would sometimes see a passenger plane flying overhead and thinking that only rich people got to do that and I'd never be able to fly like those rich people. We lost everything in the '62 storm and moved away. Fast forward to the 80's. I was on a business trip flying into Phila. and saw pretty much this same exact view of the Wildwoods. I was able to pick out the west end of West Wildwood where I lived and I could see my childhood self.... de-ja-vu for sure and a very emotional time for me. Thanks for posting this video, Joey!

    Wow, brings back memories when I flew up from Ft Lauderdale to Philly many years ago. One thing that stands out is the old passenger railroad line that used to run from Oak St. in Wildwood way out past the Parkway and to Wildwood Junction. Can't believe that old right-of-way is still so visible after decades of abandonment. Well, the railroad was once the best way to get to the island, believe it or not!

    Hi Joey! Great video!! I’ve been following your Wildwood videos for a few years. I’ve never commented but watch everything you post. We love seeing what’s new when we aren’t living there in summer. I’ve seen this same view a thousand times….I’m guessing you are flying into PHL. If so you’re on the Jiims 3 arrival and around 10-12 thousand feet. Flying over wildwood never gets old! Best to you and your wife!!

    That’s more like 8,000 to 10,000ft. Spirit begins it descent into Atlantic City just south of Norfolk and when it passes Wildwood it’s usually around 8,000 to 10,000 on Victor 139 headed to Sea Isle VOR. FYI sea Isle VOR is used for aircraft navigation and is the big bowling pin looking thing behind the Cape May County veterans cemetery.

    • @shadowdog500
      @shadowdog500 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@WildwoodVideoArchive From the terminal and gate it looks like you went into Philadelphia. I’m a pilot and am into this stuff. I just looked at the last few weeks of the the frontier flights from Orlando and Philadelphia on Flightradar24 and surprisingly they take a similar route as the ones to ACY and pass west of Wildwood between 9,000 and 15,000 ft. The descent of an airliner begins a couple hundred miles out.

    Know its winter but looks naked without any boats driving in both the bay & ocean. Did fly into Florida a few times and was amazed how many in ground pools down there. My son wants to drive down to Wildwood before Easter to get some Sams Pizza.

    Hey Joey, I got one for you.... Shaw Island features prominently at the bottom of the screen around the 17 second mark. I notice that island has what appears to be an earthwork ring built on it. What is that ring, why is it there, who built it, for what purpose? I tried googling it and nothing came up. Figured that this question was in your wheelhouse. th-cam.com/video/uv534DWMYzU/w-d-xo.html
