How do you treat a patient that was told they needed root canals and crowns?

Sorry for the late response to this question. It's sometimes difficult to get in touch with Dr. Nejad for responses. I did want to let you know that we're meeting to film with him again in November and your question is one of the one's we'll ask him about and film his response! Stay tuned!

If you need a root canal, the pulp chamber containing the nerve and vascular bundle has been compromised. Root canal treatment is safe and effective and has a very high success rate when performed properly. The alternative is no treatment or extraction. Your dental professional can help educate you properly so you can make an informed consent decision based on what's best for you. Crowning a tooth can be done a variety of ways, the most conservative approach, long-term, is the most recommended. Again, your dental professional is the best one to consult for your individual situation.

@@buenopdc Please listen to numerous videos on biomimetic dentistry and you will discover dentists who use this approach/ method carefully and slowly (it can be slower than traditional drill and fill methods) can prevent the need for root canals and crowns. A review for a different dentist I read an hour ago was from a patient who had broken a tooth. Went to a traditional dentist and was told she would need a root canal and crown. She waited a few days (over a weekend) until she could go to the other dentist who had been closed because she wanted to avoid a root canal and all the other issues that can arise. He said a root canal was not necessary & was able to take care of her tooth. That was over a year ago. Even when a tooth is damaged at the pulp, there are things that can be done.Biomimetic methods are truely awesome for restoring teeth. There is a lot of science and training needed in this type of dentistry so you need to find a well trained dentist, even if you have to travel out of town.
